I put 4 seeds into peat pellets last week some time. The pellets were really saturated and it got cold over night but they did fine. Once the roots appeared, they've been ravenous. The shoots were coming up right before my eyes. One is this White Widow from Canuk seeds.
I'm excited for the flavour of the White Widow. I've been looking forward to growing it for a while.
I put the White Widow sprout and the biggest of the 3 others into a DWC bucket.
I put the peat pellet into a rock wool cube, jammed it to the bottom of the net pot, and covered the top with LECA. There is one air pump running 2 lines with one going to each bucket.
When I topped the second time, I accidentally cut off the new growth, so those branches stopped growing. I cut back the previous 2 nodes and I'll be using those branches instead so that I still have 8 colas. The leaves are really fat and healthy looking. I'm enjoying the White Widow so far.
I'll probably switch to HPS and 12/12 this weekend, or maybe next weekend.
I've been lollipopping the plant. Things are looking and smelling good. I'm trying to maximize the vertical space of my grow room and I think I'm almost at the right height.
I've been keeping the light going at 75% (of 1000w) instead of 50%, which apparently I can get away with in the winter.
Last day of veg! They've both been really thirsty over the last week of veg and the pH has been all over the place. I honestly haven't been messing with it that much even when the pH swings, and I've just been changing out the buckets once a week. Sometimes the pH is 3 on one plant and 8 on the other. It's wild. I'm going to keep a closer eye on it now that I've changed to flower nutrients. The smell is already pretty intense and the stalks are nice and big. They've been blowing up since I put the HPS light in, now that the light cycle is changing they're going to go nuts. I'm stoked. I'm a bit worried about the cold temperatures at night, especially with the light being off for longer.
I did some defoliation on the last day of veg just to get rid of some bigger fan leaves up top and some shoots down below.
I did some defoliation and pruning of lower branches at the start of the week and this plant hasn't recovered as much foliage as the CBD Blue Shark, even though this one was bigger until recently. I think the plants have a preference for being on the left, right underneath the filament part of the light bulb. I also still need to finish the right wall and put white mylar on it. Maybe I will switch the plants for a bit.
Starting next Thursday there will be potential new owners touring the property. It's still a bit early but I'm going to flush now and harvest next week. I think we're close enough. The buds are sticky and smell great. These ones aren't really fattening up that much but they look delicious. It would definitely have been nice to have both plants the same size so they could both benefit from the optimal light distance.
I cut them down the night before the open houses started. The White Widow looks really good. I put them in darkness for 72 hrs, then cut and hung the whole plant, then wet trimmed hung for 18 hrs/day and put in paper bags for about 6 hrs/day for 4 days with a fan oscillating close by. Then in bags for one day, now they've been dry trimmed and put in jars. 50g for the White Widow and it looks great. I can't wait to smoke some.
