All the side branches are close to the same height together with the 2 main colas. The plant is starting to fill up the box nicely. I might run into height issues if it keeps growing for too long. Hairs are coming through everywhere and its starting to smell (good)😊.
Sorry for the LED on photo's but I didn't have time to take it out.
start of week 6. Explosive growth in both height and bud sites. The plant is now reaching above the light. I still have about an 3-4cm to raise the light but I plan on only doing this once vertical growth has stopped. Sadly, due to my inexperience my I did not LST enough to keep the height down. I expect a few tops to be above the light by the time the plant has stopped growing. Due to the 'Colosseum' looking structure of the plant and the reflected light I think/hope everything will have enough light. Last watering was just water due to some nutrient burn coming on.
Any tips from growers that have had similar issues are welcome.
Rough week.
day 45 - the light fell on the plant, cable went into the fan vent and snapped off a blade from the fan. Fan blades apparently all have odd number of blades(conspiracy) so the vibration was horrible even after snapping off the blade approximately across from it. No light until I can put in a new fan since i'm worried about heat issues.
day 47- new fan installed, plant looks unfazed from the lack of light. Some bud sites are developing significant frosting. The buds above the light continue to grow but I do not expect much from them.
Pictures in natural light coming soon.
start of week 8, plant is looking healthy despite not having a pH and humidity meter. Buds are becoming bigger and the ones close to the light are becoming very frosty.
The smell is AMAZING, herbal+citrus smell that tingles the nose :))))))))
Apart from total chaos, all is well in my tiny grow compartment. The plant seems to ignore the abuse caused by my inexperience, don't know if i'm lucky with the grow conditions or just amazing genetics.
The buds underneath the light are doing amazing, Trichomes are developing larger 'heads' and are slowly turning milky. Pistils underneath the light are turning red/orange at a rapid pace. The buds above the light are developing trichomes and their pistils are just starting to curl, however, I would say they look atleast 1-1.5 weeks behind. I seem to have a reverse popcorn bud problem 😡 where I cant harvest the top and let the lower buds keep growing. This brings me to my dilemma, should I harvest when the lower buds(also the largest in this case) are done or do I have time to wait until the buds above the light are also ready to harvest? I would prefer a low percentage of amber trichomes on the majority of my harvest.
Any feedback is welcome!
FIRST grow:
To start off, I'm happy there was an actual harvest! I know some first grows give disappointing results but I couldn't be happier. The grow was easy with some minor problems. I learned A LOT and will handle my next grow differently.
The harvest is split in 2 piles. On the pictures the left pile is the good bud and on the right is the smokable bud that will likely find its way into some brownies.
I used crappy nutrients so the buds are not massive, this combined with more topping and lst will be the biggest changes in the next grow.
Thank for the support!: 1:
Loved this grow! A friend of mine is currently growing the same strain at day 40f. You seem to have a pretty good idea what you're doing now but I have a couple of recommendations for any future grows. IIRC you topped your plant, which some people don't recommend with autos. Personally I abide by this and just let my [friends] autos grow as nature intended, but I also haven't seen many instances with topping autoflowers leading to big problems. Usually just a bit of stunting which is easily fixed with kelp extract. I think your main issue was height by the looks of things, which is really annoying. The best way to fix height (imo) is by super cropping, bending branches to cause a stress and hormonal response. Not only does it mean you can limit the height of your future plants, but you can increase yield by doing this. Finally, i'd recommend some of RQS's fast flowering photoperiod seeds. Autos are beautiful in their own right, but if you want to do any HST like topping or super cropping then autos really aren't the best way to go sadly. Good luck on any future grows and if you ever need advice just drop me a message!
@The_Ending_that_dannyed,
Thanks for the tips! I have already planted another quick one, so switching is not an option. I have looked into super cropping and it looks interesting. At first it looked a bit brutal but after some research I can see its benefits. I'l definitely try it out.
Hi this is a super fast version I wouldn't recommend topping her unless you have space issues as the 4-5 week is super important for development of good buds - looks like it will be a nice canopy 👍
@phailure, I'd suggest using some sort of LST instead of topping if you aren't experienced, and if you don't know growweedeasy.com i'd suggest to take a look there aswell ;)
Hi sorry I am on my first grow and wanted to know what kind of light did u use?led?u done a good job i hope i could do at least half of what you done 😰
