Almost there, but not quite... Last week before harvest. No sign of amber coloured trichomes. Air has been unusually dry for the last month or so. Patience is key with this one; 77 days (11 weeks) and counting! The buds look amazing and are very heavy but they need another whole week to fully ripen. The slower pheno ripens at the same pace as the other. As the pictures show, it's a leafier and a much taller plant than the other six. Without LST it would have been around 70 cm high at this point. Remember, this is a clone in a small 4 litre (root-pruning) pot that has been flowered from day one! The sticky buds of the "slower pheno" give off a very pungent smell upon a delicate touch. It reminds of overripe fruit, not very pleasant actually :-). It will be very interesting to see how it develops after drying and curing. The aroma of the 6 other plants is very reminiscent of the Ghost Train Haze #1, it will probably translate into the taste of the end-product, which is absolutely delicious in my opinion. The buds are less sticky than those of the slower pheno.

Does anyone have experience with trimming off the fan leaves in the last days up to harvest? Specifically, does it speed up the ripening process?

Don't do it, she needs those leaves to make the energy she needs to finish flowering. Removing those leaves will reduce the amount of energy being made and will slow maturation, not speed it up! The theory that making a plant "think" it is being eaten so will make extra trichomes is botanically impossible and BS. A plant can only make as many trichomes as it is genetically programmed to, no more than that. If it were possible to make extra trichomes by doing something unusual, there would be books written about it!

I can’t wait to get a pack of these. How was the smell after cure? You did a great job

@Otter93, It' amazing, but it takes a long time to develop. During flowering and after harvest they don't smell of much... I slowly dried and cured the buds at around 20 degrees C with a RH of around 50 to 55%. Put everything in glass jars after around a month but even then it takes another two months to reach its peak aroma. What you're left with is a sour, medicinal, herbal smell that translates to pine, licorice, grape and sometimes fruity notes in a Mighty vaporizer! The whole project took 6 whole months from start to finish but if you can wait that long, this strain is highly recommended!
