Very excited for my first grow! There are so many great resources online, I was encouraged to give this a try even though I was intimidated at first. The Kush Grow Kit put together a lot of the items which made it easy to get started. I added the grow tent and the fans and we're ready to grow.
The kit recommended no nutrients for the first 2-3 weeks, so I'm waiting two weeks to add their vegetation nutrients. If anyone has a good reason to add them earlier, please comment! As far as light schedule, I was planning on doing 18 or 20 hours, but my buddy was like "what the heck?" let's just do 24/7. If anyone has a good reason to do less, please comment!
After the initial setup last week, I realized some things I was missing. The pH kit and testers came, as well as some more ducting. I tested the water and it was somewhere between 7 and 8. Adjusted down to 6.4 and I'll check it tomorrow to see where it settled. I want to be at 6 or so, right?
Also ran the ducting out to a vent and cleaned up the wiring a bit. Added a light timer and I'm doing 20/4 cycle now.
Bummed no sprouts yet! It's been 7 days today. Hoping to see some sprouts soon :)
17 days and no sprouts yet. I pulled a bunch of the pebbles off of the top of the rockwool to expose it to the light. Hoping that will help coax these little girls out of hiding. On the bright side, it does appear one of the seeds has broken out and hopefully we'll see it surface soon.
It's pretty chilly and dry in the basement (~60-65*F) so I put a warm mist humidifier in their today. Instantly we were at 80% which is probably a little wet, but it's settled down to 60%. Also hoping that the warm mist will boost the temps a little bit.
The pH has been kind of all over the place. Was at 8. Added pH down and it was 6.8. Next day 6.4. Today was 5.1. Hoping to stabilize that soon.
Finally, I bought one of those $30 ip cameras so I can peek in on the tent. It was surprisingly easy to set up, and I've included a picture snapped from it above. So geeky and cool :)
Send good vibes! I need these seeds to SPROUT!
We have sproutage!! One of the diesel haze seeds finally broke through after 3 weeks of hiding. Two questions:
1) Is it too cold?
2) Can the rock wool be too wet? The squares are totally saturated as you can see in the pics.
Trying to figure out why it's taking so long to get sprouts.
Why is this going so sloooooooooooooooooow?!
Two of the seeds still hadn't spouted so I pulled them and put them in cold storage for another try later.
Only one of the other seeds has poked up, the other has a root down into the water but nothing above "ground" yet.
Started in with nutrients this week. Hopefully that will speed things up.
My hunch is that it's the low temperature that's inhibiting growth. But if anyone has further guidance it would be appreciated.
