Day 1 of flower BEGAN yesterday - 11/11/2021.
This is a continuation of my previous diary as I had took clones of the two best phenos before flipping to flower last time. After losing all the girls from my previous diary this is two of the clones that I had took; they are M.O.P 1 & M.O.P 2.
These two clones were vegged for a total of 5-6 weeks, however my veg tent did not have any extraction just a fan blowing with door left slightly open so I had to run the 300W on lower intensity (40-60%) due to heat so I have not had the explosive veg growth like I did with the Gavita.
I did not have chance to begin LST from an early stage as I should have been doing and judging by the height the last run got too after stretch when flipping at 40cm, ending at 110, I have had to try and “LST” sorta as I am worried they will be larger than last time with flipping at 50cm now and I did not want colas going through the light like they almost did last time.
Not a true LST but just mainly trying to conserve vertical space and make the most out of the two plants by making use of the horizontal space instead.
These two clones were also topped a total of three times each from midway through veg, up until a week before switching to flower.
Both girls were both lollipopped too a week before the flip to flower as when i left these branches the last time they just grew weak and stretched outwards so I’d rather focus the energy to where the most light will reach.
Just like last time, rather than following Mills nutrient calculator, I am going purely off EC, basically adding full strength stimulants as per the chart ( Vitalize & Start-R ) and just adjusting my EC to 1.4 by adding the base nutes (A+B). I will continue to do this the entire grow as I still believe the chart & EC Mills suggest online is absolute bollocks as I learnt the last time when all the plants began to react burnt and badly when going purely from chart.
I am hoping that due to not losing parts of the plant to shadow like I did last time in each four corners of the tent with being overcrowded, that with the increased light penetration around the tent, and all around the two plants, that my end yield will still be pretty good, here’s hoping. 🤞🙏🏻
Week 2 begins today - Day 7 Flower - 18/11/2021.
“LST” is continuing probably until end of stretch just so I can conserve my vertical space as mentioned in last weeks comment and also to make the most out of the horizontal space with only having 2 girls under this light.
Light is currently hung 18” from the canopy at all times to try and reduce the stretch and maximise the light penetration.
In just 7 days the change is crazy. All bud sites are growing up towards the light and are being kept as even as possible to maximise the bud sites receiving light, as the last run I did they were all different heights.
I think going forward, I will be using 4 plants in 11L finishing pots, rather than 5 plants in 18’s, and also LST them from around 2 weeks in veg, to achieve a even canopy all through flower allowing more bud sites to get equal light.
Both girls are receiving 1.2-1.4EC @ 5.8-6.0 pH. Fed twice per day, 2 hours after lights on, two hours before lights off, 2 litre per plant per feed. 4L per day each. This may change to 3 x per day once they are fully into flower I’ll just have to see. Always get 20% runoff.
MOP 2 has been fluctuating between the same as inflow, to major spiking whereas MOP1 has been stable the whole way through. Thankfully they are both stable at around 1.3EC at present.
Light on temp is an average of 24°C. Lights off average of 19°C.
I have defoliated today (19/11/2021) - 9 Days of flower after date correction. I wanted to do this to allow the lower bud sites to recieve more light and grow to the same height as the ones that are “LST” to allow a even canopy and reduce shadow below by the time the stretch is over. I will be defoliating little but often throughout flower of leaves are getting too large and covering a bud site, but will not be doing major defoliation, little but often. Again, not a true LST as it wasn’t done from veg but just trying to minimise vertical growth and take advantage of the horizontal with a even canopy.
All I can think to add! If I can remember anything else I will update this comment.
Week 3 flower began today - 24/11/2021.
Light is being kept at a constant 18” from the canopy which is being “LST” to conserve vertical height and so far it’s working as what would have been lost to shadow my last grow lower down on the girls, is now getting ample light and stretching to almost the top creating a more even canopy.
EC is pretty stable around 1.2 but will be increasing this to 1.4 probably next week or whenever the girls seem more hungry later in flower.
This time around there hasn’t been any tip burn or nutrient deficiency compared to the last round, they have seemed healthy throughout. I am definitely under the impression that less is more in terms of base nutrients and the way I’m doing it is correct. ( half what Mills suggest of A+B, but full strength stimulant which are; Vitalize, C4, Start-R, Ultimate PK)
I will be starting multifeeding in the next week or so also once stretch is officially over and up feedings to 3 times per day. When I did this last time they seemed to pack on quicker so going to give it a go again.
Hopefully the stretch will be done within the next couple days as the light distance is going to be impacted otherwise, can only raise the light another 3-4 inches or so.
I am just continuing to now remove any large fan leaves that are covering bud sites rather than doing any larger defoliations. Different from last time but wanting to see what fits best.
Mills C4 is now being added (Flower Promoter); this also made the last ones take off in terms of bud production. Amazing stuff.
Week 4 (or 3) begins today; got my dates all over atm. - 1/12/2021.
The string was removed a couple of days ago as I thought the stretch would be over but they seem to have not held the stretched out shape very well but it is still a lot better than having plants the size I had last time.
After a week of using C4, the pistils are popping out of every bud site, and regardless if I am a week early of giving C4, you can run it from week 2 or 3 so no issues there.
Both plants seem to be staying between 60-62cm which is a lot better than 110cm than last time.
EC for both girls has been pretty stable between 1.2-1.4EC. If they show signs of being hungry I will up feed but at present they are super healthy and no nute burn yet the entire grow.
I am still just doing little but often in terms of defoliation as I don’t want to stress them too much, and i am just removing anything that covers a bud site.
That’s all for this week! 🙏🏻
Week 4 / Day 28 Flower begins today - 8/12/2021.
Runoff EC has been a little high on both girls but not enough to give them any burn or anything thankfully. They are both beginning to pack on frost early on the leaves and buds are certainly getting bigger.
Average of about 1.5 EC with a 1.2 inflow. Getting this back down and under control over the next couple days.
With having weeks mixed up at start, the C4 was started a week early, so therefore I am going to be carrying on with C4 for this next week, then introduce the Ultimate PK. This is also going to be a week early but I’m sure it won’t be too bad, live and learn for next time.
Smell is certainly increased, as soon as I open the tent there is a nice fruity/orangey smell that only gets more intense as you sniff the leaves with frost and buds that have formed. Smells unlike any other strain I’ve smoked before!
LST- although stretch is now ending, the string will be left on just to allow plant to stiffen up in that shape over the next week or so, so I won’t be covering anything in the middle of the plants when the string is removed.
It seems to have worked well as the stuff on the lower of plants that last time came to nothing, is already larger than what it was last time and they were a week ahead of these.
Still using less than half of what mills suggest for A+B, but full strength stimulants. They don’t seem to mind as I haven’t had one piece of nute burn this run, or any signs of deficiency so I think the way I’m doing it is the way to go.
Can’t wait to see these all finished up in about 4 weeks! 🙏🏻
Week 5 / Day 35 Flower began today - 15/12/2021.
Plants have definitely started packing on some buds compared to last week. Can’t wait to see how they turn out over the next 4 weeks.
EC is currently a little high, both at 1.6EC, however I believe that it is due to the top layer of the coco drying out leaving salts behind. I think this because there is no symptoms of burn or deficiency, so it can’t be the over nuting, plus I’m using 1/2 of what mills suggest in terms of Base Nutes so I believe it’s the drying out. I will be keeping the EC around 1.4 once it’s stable and only upping the base nutes if they start to seem hungry.
It has been less is more the whole run so I’m gonna keep with it.
To get the EC stable again, and keep the coco wet, I have began multifeeding 3 x per day during lights on. 2 litres at a time per plant every 24hrs - 6l a day. I have read good things about multifeeding so want to carry on doing it as I’m so far impressed with the results.
The string for the “LST” has been left on, but I don’t think it’s necessary at all. I will probably cut them off in time or just leave them on if they don’t harm the plant at all.
Due to starting the C4 a week early, I did not want to use it for an extra week again this week, so I have began using the Mills Ultimate PK a week early at 2ml per litre. This can be used for the last 2-4 weeks of flower, so hopefully it all works out.
Still haven’t been any nute burn or anything this run which I’m happy about, the girls seem to be coming along nicely and just developing without issues. *touch wood*
I am just defoliating a couple of leaves per girl at a time to reduce stress, and only if they are beginning to shade or cover lower bud sites.
Can’t wait to see this week compared to the next too! 😁🤙🏻🙏🏻💚
Day 42 / Week 6 Flower begins today -
22/12/2021.
EC - EC has been a little high, rising to as high as 1.9 overnight after approx 16hrs since last feed. Inflow is 1.3 and will probably remain there or even be backed off slightly to 1.2 until the plants show they require more as if it keeps rising I will have to lower the EC slightly. I believe it is the Ultimate PK sending the EC higher as that is the only thing that has changed. Still giving less than half of what mills suggest and the girls don’t seem to mind, if anything they are getting slightly overfed as above suggests.
Multifeeding - I am currently feeding every 4 hours, 2 hours after lights on and 2 hours before lights off for a total for 3 x per day, 2l per plant per feed. Always with 20% or greater runoff.
Defoliation - I am still only removing about 7-10 leaves per plant every 4 or 5 days if they are beginning to cover or shade bud sites below. If they are not causing issues, I won’t remove them as I don’t want to cause any unnecessary stress at this stage.
“LST” - The string is still attached from the “LST”, it does not seem to be affecting the plant and is keeping centre of the plants exposed pretty well so I’m trying to just keep the string on. As the weeks go on, if the branches require support instead of tying down, I will tie them up the frame of the tent probably.
Both girls buds are beginning to fatten up, especially along the main branches are becoming more developed and more colours are coming on MOP 2 which is the more purple and prettier of the two phenos (for now). Even the lower stuff on both girls is a lot larger than the last time so I’m happy already as I’d imagine the tops will be even larger and there is still approx 3 weeks / 21 days remaining.
Can’t wait to see how much more these progress in the coming weeks.
🙏🏻🤙🏻💚
Week 7 / Day 49 Flower begins today 29/12/2021.
EC - EC has been 1.2 inflow all of this week, but runoff has been around 1.6-1.7. Although I am using less than half of what mills suggest of A&B but full strength stimulants, like I have to the whole grow, since I have introduced the Ultimate PK at 2ml/L the girls have both began to burn pretty bad mainly at the tops. I have done 4l per plant of a 1.1EC solution with half of the suggested (1ml/L) of the PK to see if that can stop the burn getting worse. I also dropped the base nutes by 5ml too. Hopefully this mini “flush” will stop it progressing.
Once EC is stable / burn stops I will watch closely and up base nutes again to higher EC or higher PK if required but from what I can tell it’s very strong stuff compared to the rest of the Mills line.
Multifeeding - 20% Runoff every feed, 3 x per day, 2L per feed. 6.0pH.
“LST” - again, the ties have been left on as it does not seem to affect the plants. If that changes then I will remove it as I am liking the density I am getting lower down due to light getting deeper than usual.
The buds are definitely growing in size daily which makes me believe it is nute burn mentioned above and not lockout as if it was the symptoms would be far worse, plus the top is the most effected part of the girls indicating a recent change is the reason for the burn and the lower stuff is barely affected.
I will be keeping EC to 1.1-1.2 again all this week, and only adjusting PK & base nutes if the girls seem hungry as I really don’t wanna make the burn worse or get to a point where it effects the buds.
Hopefully just another 14 or so days maximum till chop, can’t wait to see what these turn out like. Both girls are covered in trichomes from top to bottom and dense throughout.
Just want these girls to finish up and power through this burn till the end and hopefully doesn’t hurt the girls too much!
🙏🏻🤙🏻💚
Today was the day!
Both girls have been chopped at day 55 of flower. Reason being is after 2 days of plain water
**(I’m aware this is a short flush, but nutes were tapered down in the week leading up to this, then with plain non pH’d water there was 6 fertigations, 4l per plant per time over the last 48 hours - the runoff has been coming out plain 0.3EC tap water, same as the inflow).**
The trichomes that we’re only cloudy on top had began to change over to amber and the lowers that were clear became milky after having plain water so I pulled them down for peak potency. Maybe could have had a couple days more but not the end of the world I am still very happy so far with the result from what I can see so far.
I have just removed the largest fan leaves off and separated into branches or more like clusters of tops on branches. In a couple days I will probably remove a little more leaves or if they are drying evenly and nicely I will just remove them when I dry trim.
They are now hung inside the tent, aiming for 18-20°C temps & set to 50% RH, hooked up to a Inkbird Humidity Controller and a dehumidifier. Hoping these will take a week to ten days to dry so the flavour and smell is not lost.
Both Phenos of this strain have come out in beautiful colours under the torch on video, I can’t wait to see them both when their dry and all trimmed up in all their glory.
That’s all for this week, in 7-10 days hopefully they are dry and I will update with the harvest week with the final weights and some trimmed up pictures! 🤙🏻🙏🏻💚
After 5 & 1/2 - 6 days, the girls were trimmed up and “jarred” as I could not go any longer without risking over drying and messing up the cure.
Loved growing this strain, MOP 1 having a more deeper smell leaning more to mimosa and citrus & MOP 2 smells more like candy sweet smell leaning more towards orange punch.
Pulled 14oz total from 2 girls. 7oz per girl, but MOP1 had the more favourable bud structure, while MOP 2 had the more favourable colour and sweeter smell.
Neither girls I would say had any real popcorn buds, even the smallest of the buds lower down were really dense and will only improve a little more with a cure. Love the Gavita for the density 100%.
All of the buds are now currently in a plastic airtight bucket ( I know use glass, I don’t have any jars and it’s my only option.)
Bucket will be burped a couple times a day to cure and allow the smell to develop some more. I’m sure I will lose a little weight as the cure progresses, but in total as far as placing buds in the bucket the grand total is 14.1 oz. probably around 13.5 oz when all is said and done I’m guessing.
I am beyond happy! Thanks for everyone’s help and support on here too! 🤙🏻💚
Looking amazing buds my friend ✌️ my next grows definitely going to be more uniformed bro they'll be given of a beautiful citrus smell 🍊👊 staying tuned bro take care m8👍✌️👍
We’ll bro your plants look way better than mine so I’ll admit that. Your setup looks a lot more preplanned than mine as well. I’m hoping next run looks like this but not gonna get discouraged if it doesn’t. Will be doing indoor and outdoor harvest all throughout next year. Haven’t been able to grow up until now and I’m 31. Keep doing what you’re doing though cause it looks like you got some fire here lol
@dober151, honestly mate I haven’t a clue. I’m not sure if my timer was playing up, too much stress, over feeding from day 1 etc. Barneys is pretty reputable I’d imagine so think I just pushed em too far really mate haha. Not something I’d say is easily done haha but hey long as ya learn from it! Yeah I’ve heard bagseeds are more prone too! Wishing you all the best bro 🙏🏻🤙🏻💚
@CocoTheClown,
What do you think caused them to hermie? Genetics? I had a bunch turn male and one hermie. It was bagseed so I figured that could happen but I know I stressed them out too which didn’t help in the least
@dober151, exactly mate, we’re all here learning anyway gotta learn as you go pal! My last run hermied hence these two in a pinch, but the next run should be 4-5 of these! As long as your enjoying the growing mate that’s the main thing! 😁 this is only my 1st ( technically 2nd ) grow and I’m not too far away from you in terms of age lol gotta start somewhere! Thanks man I appreciate it! 🙏🏻🤙🏻💚
Bro they're coming on lovely now m8, 👍 lovely purple hues coming on the girls, you're going to get some big yield in a couple more weeks there bro, you deserve it pal you've waited long enough. I would definitely give them 8-9 weeks about 75-80 days that's what I would have done bro but an emergency situation came up bro if you know what I mean 🚔 so had to chop the girls down at week 8 day 59 was gutted pal didn't even have time to flush them bro, so the buds taste harsh in a bong 🤫 not to bad in a j like. Wish you nothing but good luck bro, can't wait to see the end results bro, watching eagerly my friend all the best to you and yours pal 👌👍🙏🇬🇧.
@Collinsy74, here’s the link mate, their obvs using a drip system but I just did the same thing but hand watering! > https://www.icmag.com/forum/marijuana-growing/growing-in-coco-coir/240496-a-few-things-that-i-ve-learned-about-growing-in-coco-with-a-drip-systm-dtw
@Collinsy74, nah mate I’m doing hand watering, 3 x per day once into late flower and I’m loving the results treating the coco as close to hydro as I can. If you google “icmag multifeeding coco, a few things I’ve learned” there’s a big older article mate and this run seems to be following what theirs did so must be working! It’s a pain feeding 3 x per day I’m just hoping come harvest day it pays off! 🤙🏻💚
@CannbellFarms, honestly mate it’s my first grow, but the Gavita has done above and beyond from other grows I’ve seen. If you check out my previous diary, the veg growth is crazy under the Gavita, this run was vegged under a 300w so not as vigorous but still happy! Hoping the harvest is as amazing as the veg growth but I’ll keep ya posted! 😁 defo the best light I’ve seen ( as a novice) lol. 🙏🏻💚
@CocoTheClown,I bet man hahah, how are you liking the Gavita by the way? Looking at upgrading at some point to either Luxx or Lumatek, loving the drainage MacGyver also hahahah
Great training👍
Clean glow room👏
I think your grow lights will definitely make powerful and huge buds!
I use the same grow lights and was amazed at the tremendous yield!
@CocoTheClown,
Yes, I used Gavita1700e in my last run👍
I am very pleased with the yield, which exceeded my expectations😁
I hope your grow this time will be great!😎
How did you manage to get the stalks that large so quickly? I was doing photos, then autos for a while, and now moving back to photos so I can play with my clones. I am ready to grow a beast! Just popped 3 blueberry muffin x watermelon from Humbolt Seed Company non fem. Hopefully one will turn out a nice big female!
@VT__Homegrown_Fun, I’ll be honest with ya mate, I think it’s purely a mix of the light, genetics, medium and feed in using.
This is my first grow ( I have a diary before take a look at the stems on that too, that was my true first grow) and I have been feeding twice a day since like week 2 in veg in 70/30 coco perlite mix with the Mills Nutrient full range, I’m using half the base nutes mills tell me too, but never had an issue with deficiency or EC in this run. Both of the grows had huge storks like that, I dunno if it something I’m doing due to being a novice but if it is i ain’t aware of it 😂
All the best bro hoping for all females for you! That strain sounds dank! These were only vegged 5 weeks with a 300w on like 50% dimmed so yeah lol you’ll smash it bro 🤙🏻🙏🏻💚
@Ju_Bps, thanks mate!
Nope these two were vegged and with 4 others which were later killed, under a 300w at 60% so could have been better lol. Not too long mate really!
Thanks mate same to you! 🙏🏻🤙🏻💚
