The room is an indoor cupboard, it is 4 foot square with a height of around 7 foot. Size of container is around 14L and medium is a mix of clay pebbles and canna coco coir. My method is when germinating I dig a little well in the container maybe 6 inches deep and as the seedling grows I fill it in and bury the stem, this helps to develop strong root base.
This plant is growing much faster than my amnesia and bubble kush which were all germinated at the same time. It seems to have a bit of nute burn so I'll not give it so much on next feed. Just topped it now so looking forward to the coming weeks.
Topping has worked well, tied down in a star shape. When I went back to look at the gorilla saw one branch had snapped so I topped it again, probably shocked the plant a bit but it looks like its doing ok.
Ok so I think I may have shocked the plant a bit when the stem broke and i've topped it so quickly, signs of some nute burn so I gave some pure water, leaves are responding by looking more greener now than yellow lime colour.
Coming along nicely now, got the kinda width I want, now time for it to grow upwards. I have increased the feed after giving it water for a week. May veg for another 6-8 weeks.
Plant is filling out nicely now, increased the feed and it looks like there is a bit of nute overload, but it seems to be resolving itself the bigger the plant gets as the leaves seem to be getting darker.
I had to trim off quite a bit of growth as it was too overcrowded. Stems are thickening nicely now and have more light reaching them. Waiting for my canopy to even itself out a bit more then start flower, maybe 6 weeks or less so I can get it harvested for Christmas.
After the last trim the plant is filling out nicely, Stems are looking thicker and when I have maybe 5-7 nodes I will put it into flower, maybe another 2-4 weeks.
Had to tie it back a bit more as it was too crowded, some colas not getting light. It is much more open now, gave it a little trim and upped the feed slightly.
I wasn't happy with my LED, cheapo from ebay. Lined the walls with foil and put on the 600w HPS, the difference in light coverage and intensity is shocking. It might have saved me a few quid over the last few months but the growth has been slow mainly due to me only having 1 light for 4 plants with the light in the centre it wasn't giving the coverage. Now with the HPS it is lit up like Alladins cave and the foil on the walls bounces the light back nicely. The gorilla is now 25 inches wide and 13 inches high with about 25+ colas. I can see some signs of nute burn on a couple of leaves from the last feed so I will dial it down a bit, other than that I'm now a lot happier the new light is up.
So the first week with the 600w HPS shows good growth all over. I've had to lower the feed back a bit and it's a bit of a struggle to keep the temp down but it's looking good. Maybe 3 more weeks then on to flower.
So my favourite time has come. First week of flower and the plant is responding nicely. Feeding veg food for first week but now that the buds are showing signs I'll be switching to Canna Flores. Defoliated quite a bit but the growth is so quick it can soon get out of hand.
So I've taken off as many fan leaves as I dare and tied it back a bit more, this plant is a beast and can easily grow out of control. Plenty of light to majority of the bud sites, bud formation is coming along nicely. One thing I'm worried about is with having so many bud sites, don't want it all to turn to popcorn.
I've upped the feed slightly for the past week and she seems to be taking it well. Buds are coming along nicely so I've lowered the light a little bit as well so I will monitor this for the next week and see what effect it has.
So I'm around the mid point in the flower cycle and things are looking good. I was worried that all the cutting I've done would produce popcorn buds but they do seem to be filling out nicely. I think I hurt the baby early on by snapping 2 stems, after that and with all the defoliating I did the leaves never seemed to get that big, which I think has a relation to the size of the buds that get produced. I have added co2, I don't know if it will improve anything at this stage of flowering but it certainly won't do any harm.
So the buds are forming nicely, maybe not the biggest I've seen but they are tight and compact and the smell is lovely, very earthy and pine like. I've lowered the nutrients because there are some signs of slight nute overload. Had to remove the foil from the walls as condensation was building up behind it and mould was on the walls so scrubbed it with bleach and washing up liquid and repainted it white which is actually better than the foil. Can't wait to smoke this :P
Not long to go now, things are looking nice and frosty, nuggets are tight and compact, they may not be the biggest but there are quite a lot of them. Learnt a fair bit through this grow.
So, plant is looking lovely, trichomes are mostly milky but still some clear, I'm looking at it daily and it is close to getting cropped, maybe a week or 2 more.
I haven't smoked this yet as it's only just been cut but if the smell is anything to go by then it's going to be nice. Edit, bud is drying nicely. Last night I took a couple of buds off as they were almost dry and this morning they were lovely dry, rolled a nice joint and had a smoke. Grinds well, smokes nice and even, this shizzle will make you forget what you were talking about man you know what I mean. Taste is pretty low key, mild earthy notes and woody with an after hint of something I can't quite think of, it's like the old school taste of weed.
Early on I snapped a couple of stems doing the LST and I don't think the plant ever recovered fully from it. Leaves remained small throughout the grow but I was constantly cutting and trimming and I think I never really gave it a chance to grow properly. The buds are tight and compact and there are some nice ones there, maybe not the biggest I've seen but plenty of them.0000
@Larimar, Actually after looking back at my calendar they were germinated on 31st of may, so at the time of taking the pictures they are about 10 days old. The soil is recycled also and will undoubtedly have some left over nutrients which does help with early growth. On my last grow I used recycled soil and had a skywalker kush and a shining silver haze and they seemed to just explode in growth very early on.
@Larimar, Indeed she is growing fast. I have 2 Amnesia and a Bubble Kush germinated at the same time and they are half the size of the Royal Gorilla. I've added a pic so you can see the comparison.
@Darkgreenkid, I did do some hash oil with the trim and it is potent. Bud is still drying at the moment, I will update in a couple of days when I roll a big fat blunt with it :)
What a grow ! Well done man !
I see you are getting a few two-toned leaves, thats so beautiful !
One thing that made my life easier ,though not sure if you would find it useful, but I have pierced small hole on the rim of my pots and I just tie my plant ties in there, it made it easier for me when i needed to readjust the colas.
Anyway keep up the great work !
