1st TIMER ***THIS IS A STEALTH GROW***
Going for bud quality / proper harvest using water only / living soil / LED / LST
SETUP:
-Watered with Aquagear filtered water (6.42) - removes flouride / chloramine while retaining minerals (~$70 bucks, fanciest consumer pitcher filter, removes much more than Brita)
-Sour Kush AKA Headband Auto by Growers Choice
-Kind Soil - "Hot" Soil
-Roots Organic OG over the "Hot" Soil as per Kind Soil method at www.kindsoil.com
-Smart Pots
-300w Galaxy Hydro LED
-2x2x4 tent with 4in exhaust with carbon filter run through VARIAC controller
-mason jar hydrometer lids
- boveda 62% packs for long term curing
- going to use paper bag method as I need to dry in my tent for smell
Compared to my photoperiod alaskan thunderfuck this is a NICE seedling - it grew up under damn good tent conditions vs outside like the ATF - in fact its already surpassed it in week 3
I'm having a blast with this water only grow - my plants are so healthy and trouble free - no bugs or weird deficiencies. 300w seems to be working for my space and the nodes are tight.
I keep bouncing back and forth on LST training the canopy - I seem to able to to equally good with LST ties, and I need to get in to visually inspect the underbelly.
I think LST was the right choice with this one - I simply can't have a huge height discrepancy between main cola and secondary branches - but I don't have veg time for a true scrog - so i've got this horizontal thing going on - i do like having colas coming from lower on the stem and a shorter path for nutes to flow - and the main one should still be pretty formidable. I have VERY conservatively removed some leaves as needed in the underbelly - no real distress that I can see - running 24/0 has been interesting too - i think id have a lankier plant with a dark period, but this might turn out awesome for all i know.
Moving right along maintaining watering schedule and working to improve airflow in my tent. It is drinking more now that it's almost done with 3 weeks of flowering. I'm really glad its filling out like it has been doing.
Added intake fan next to light baffle
Planning my next grow (2 more of these plants)
-Root Trapper 2 bags,
-pack soil into bags a little more to offset sinkage from watering
-might do some companion planting also
- top/train one, leave one
- this plant went 4 days without water day 14-19 - it started flowering on day 21 - I'm going to be extra careful about consistency during veg in an attempt to gain a little more mass before flower on the next one if possible (doorknob height is my goal)
Heat wave made me flip light schedule to 20/4 to give some relief at peak heat (keeping tent under 88 at all times is my goal)
Tried molasses to stimulate soil microbes, and it loved that. Combined with a little compost tea - I see the buds starting to fill in and fatten up.
Starting 2 more soon, in 3 ga pots instead of 2 (which tuned into like 1.5 from settling, which I think restricted me a little.)
Starting to see pistils turning red in a few areas, maybe 10% right now - feeding molasses and compost tea. Seeing frost on the buds as well. Some are gettting pretty thick looking, but there is a bit of larfyness too, thats okay though!
Wrappin' up! Using loupe to check trichs, the "macro" photos aren't the best. I've stopped molasses/tea and water only last 2 cycles. Watering much less as well.
Test harvest was pretty yummy and sweet, for quick dry in toaster oven on low.
It grew great and was trouble free throughout the entire time. I have since started the next 2 in the 3-pack - In larger pots hopefully get a bigger plant now that I have a good sense of light height. Started 24/0 then last 3 weeks of flower were 20/4. I'm going 20/4 the entire time for the next ones.
So glad to have the first grow under my belt! Didn't measure wet weight, but I estimate just shy of an oz dry - I will update with final results pending dry/cure. The kind soil water only method worked amazingly well and I'm impressed by the initial result after harvest comparing to So Cal dispensary bud, it looks great. I used flouride and chloramine free water 100% of the time, and molasses and compost tea (mixture of fresh kind soil and water) I've started 2 more of the same strain in larger pots this time around. Hoping to hit a 3oz yield next time between the two hopefully larger plants.
I think the training I did was helpful overall for the development of the secondary buds. There were some nice ones! Organic indoor autoflowers smoke pretty damn smooth!00
@CRiSPrGrow,
hahah thanks, yeah i might go back over em after drying, I did it at a friends house and it was dimly lit - if anything it will keep them from drying too fast I suppose, lol harry and the hendersons
