Dropped it in the water on Thursday the 16th, and Saturday the 18th planted it directly into a small pot filled with amp coco/perlite. It popped above the surface on 12/21 and is doing well so far!
I've been surprised how quickly this one seems to be growing compared to the last round (which was my first run). I definitely learned a lot last time that should be helping this time. I think I am noticing an early cal-mag deficiency with the slight curling of the leaves - just gave nutes including cal mag today, so will monitor over the next couple of days and maybe give just a little cal-mag water without any other nutes next fertigation. I just got an EC meter thanks to the hubs' Christmas gift certificate to a local grow shop, and immediately realized how very forgiving the last run was!
This lady is going gangbusters! I think I corrected the cal-mag deficiency by using a foliar spray. I transplanted her into her final 5 gallon fabric pot today, and will begin LST soon.
Edit 1/7...added a few more photos from the week. In one you can see the Bruce Banner I'm running at the same time. I plan to spend time this weekend starting lst.
Things are progressing smoothly. Adding more nutrients and slowly raising EC, up to 800 now. Got flexible tomato cages for LST and to add support. Raised light % up to 60.
Miss Big Bud appears to be happy and healthy. She hit 12" today. Added humidifier to tent this week, have been increasing ppm slowly up to 980. At the rate she's going, expecting to flip in the next week or maybe 2.
I think she's doing ok - definitely will ask a question below about the leaves. She's responding well to being gently woven through the tomato cage- my plan is to wrap her all the way around once to give extra support and let her get good and big but not tall over the next couple of weeks before 12/12. Added a humidifier to keep the tent around 40%, and also tried adding a bucket of water with an aquarium heater in it to try to add a little heat and humidity - no real noticeable effects.
Serrated leaf edges curling up a bit with no discoloration. Have tried cal mag foliar spray, raising light, flushing with water (ppm just over 500 runoff from flush). She doesn't look unhappy, just wanting to make sure she stays healthy! TIA!
Shes looking quite healthy.
Curing leaves upwards also known as canoeing is a sign of heat/light stress.
But I don't think that's whats going on here. I don't think anything is going on here.
Your temps are good and your lamp distance is ok, could be closer.
However your feeding TDS numbers are to high in the diary.
900PPM for this little guy is to much. want to lower that down before it gets hurt.
Good Luck and Happy Growing!
Backed off on the nutes based on suggestions from others, brought it down to 480 and will go up a little from there. Rearranged LST configuration. Maybe flip next week. Looking happy and healthy!
Been slack about pics this week, but have been relining 2 sides of the tent with mylar in preparation for flipping to flower. Today is the last day of veg!
This posting is a little late, but the Super Bowl threw me off! Switched her to 12/12 last week. Not seeing big changes of moving into flower, but also my last (and only other) growing experience I had autos, so learning how photos respond and change during this time. She looks happy and healthy, so I'll just do everything I can to keep that going! Have added the Base B nutes to the lineup.
Finally really starting to see some bud sites getting going! Did a little more last this week while things are still fairly flexible. Also took off about 10 fan leaves to help get light to all the good parts.
She is looking very happy and healthy! Lots of bud sites - stems still flexible enough that I can do some gentle LST around the tomato cage to continue exposing the sites to the light better. Starting to get a very faint whiff of odor when I unzip the tent. Starting to get excited!
Added flower stacker this week, and also reached the end of being able to do LST. Accidentally cracked (didn't break) a stem, immediately splinted together with aluminum foil tape (worked fine last run). She is getting too stiff to be able to manipulate easily. My little girl is growing up! Looking forward to seeing these buds take off and hopefully become all they are cracked up to be.
Well I was horrified to discover today that there has been an issue with the lighting (so much human error, zero Spider Farmer error) for at least a week...probably closer to 1.5. See, what had happened was, I had this bright idea to give each of my flowering ladies (I am also running a Bruce Banner of dubious origin who is doing rather well) their own Sf-2000 since I bought a SF-1000 to put on the seedling/veg side. So I needed a couple extra timers, and when I set them up, I screwed it up so they were not getting a real 12/12. I am amazed they have not hermed, but it's made me feel pretty darn good about ILGM's genetics and way better about the occasional pinhole in the tent (thanks, Puck the kitten, Destroyer of Nice Things). Anywhooooooo.....other than that, I'd say it's been a good week! Adding flower stacker, fixed the lighting problem, and hoping that all will be well in these last few weeks until harvest.
These buds are starting to get a little chonky! Added a little more P and K to the mix and took out the N (Base A, there's still a little in Base B). Did some defoliation today (3/19) so the last couple of photos are the after she got her hairs did. Trying to make sure I get as much light as possible to all the bud sites!
Good week! Out of town this week so I have a friend babysitting. Looking forward to seeing how she looks when I get back! Hoping to be on harvest watch shortly after our return, but also hoping these buds bulk up some more. Will definitely start checking trichomes next week and starting to plan for flushing.
Y'all ever go on vacation and have someone babysit your plants and then realize that you and that person did not interpret your instructions the same? Yeah, that happened to me this week. Nothing irreparable, they were just very hungry/thirsty. I plucked off a lot of the dead/very yellow leaves and gave them a good drenching/feeding/apologizing. Hopefully, all will be well. I was hoping to be harvesting soon, but honestly they are looking a little stunted between my screw up a few weeks ago and being stressed this week. Will terp watch to be sure, but looking like it will be a bit longer than anticipated.
Definitely on trich watch. Lots of cloudy ones, but no amber yet and I'm holding out since she's an indica and I love a good body buzz. I also think these buds can tighten up a little.
Still on trich watch, and FINALLY this evening saw the first couple of ambers. Last time I fed/watered I gave light nutes, so if she needs another I will just give plain water as I believe I'll be able to harvest within the week. We'll see, but very excited to bring this one to the finish line - she smells divine!
So technically this week started the harvest! There are a lot of buds that were not getting great light and the trichs were not as developed, so let's say I just gave her a really significant haircut. :) Filled up the trim bin and hung all the branches upside down in the 1' by 5' side of the grow tent that I have decided is my drying chamber rather than germ/veg. I don't ever bother with wet weight, but pretty sure I will have a good couple of zips dry with what I've already cut and of course we'll see what else she does. I am super excited to try this one - my hands were sticky af just trying to separate branches enough to cut where I needed to and move cuttings into the bin. AND they smell like tropical fruit and gas! I will totally sneak some once she's dry enough and before I start curing. I like tasting along the way to see how it develops.
Curious to see how much more these buds grow. Started trimming the batch I cut last weekend yesterday, did about half of what I had and right at 1 oz. We did test drive a little, definitely needs to cure more but there is a fruity gas taste to it and definitely some effects! Excited to finish up this grow and be able to really enjoy the results in a few weeks.
Just trying to bring the rest of these little buds of Big Bud (lol) the rest of the way home. Today I checked the trichs and gave just ph'd water - letting her have a bit of a flush before hopefully being able to cut her the rest of the way down. Have not tasted the curing ones from 2 weeks ago since last weekend, but looking forward to really getting into it in a couple of weeks. Now the only question is...what shall I grow next? Looking for some Ganja Farmer seeds in the mail, but still have plenty of ILGM on hand, so may just go ahead and pop one and then deal with the rest when they come. ;)
All is dried, most is trimmed and curing, but still have a batch left to weigh and trim and put in jars. Looks like we'll get about 2 zips off this plant. For a second ever grow, I'll take it. Especially as that is way more than I got off any plant in the first run. Onwards and upwards!
