Hello, everyone!
Second week of heavy main-lining is in the books! Not without casualties, sadly 😢
The main-lining ✂️ :
- I've tied the branches down twice this week
- First time was on day 31 and I managed to snap 1 (out of 4) of the new branches of the Monster Gelato.
- The broken branch didn't completely come off the plant but the damage was sizeable
- Since the branch was too small to be tied back to the plant so that it can easily heal itself I decided to super glue it 😲🖌️
- The branch was secured back to the plant...but at what cost?
- The second tie-down and third top was done on day 36, this time with grater care, and no plants were hurt during the process
What's next 🗺️:
- I'll closely follow the development of the snapped branch and will decide if I want to keep it or not
- If it gets the chop, I'll consider topping its closest sibling once again.
- I realise it will lead to uneven conopy and distribution of the plant's energy
- I haven't done this type of topping before, so I might give it a go just to see what happens
Some thoughts 🗯️:
- I've definitely been harsher to plants before and haven't had a snap...maybe the branches are more brittle due to the "winter" conditions?
- For future training (bending) I'll tie down the leaves first before tying down the branch, I've noticed there's a better distribution of stress this way.
- Also I don't this I will use super glue ever again if I snap a branch... will need to come up with a better solution in this type of situation haha
That's all for this action-packed week, see y'all in the next one! Keep growing ✌️☘️
Good luck with the main-lining it's all about getting your having plants in top condition and them girls will happily take any stress. Great job, be an interesting one to watch, and I will.
