No buckets? No pumps? No out of this world amazing backwoods hydroponic engineering? WTF!! Will be none of that fancy shit going on around here. The plan is simple....keep these plants alive long enough to see if they are males or females. I have have had a few regs in the bean vault for a while but never dedicated them a spot in a grow because I didn't want to waste a spot on a male. Figured it's time to break them out and see if they are boys or girls. We have a margalope from cannarado genetics and a strawberry haze x banana og from cannabis by Corey. I dont know who that is lol, but in house threw it in as a freebie on a drop a couple years ago so Its at least worth trying. I also decided to throw in one of the rarest strains on earth. The Platonium. A cross I did of 2 dank in house genetics strains. Platinum Jelly X Sugar Cane. I figured I would start one of these so the whole project isn't a waste if the regs are both males. I started these directly in peat pellets with plain tap water. After they broke the surface I transplanted them into 1 quart peat pots with fox farm ocean forest soil. Soil is not my comfort zone but I'm just going to keep the lights on and water them sparingly in hope I dont kill them. Going to take it nice and easy with them until I can sex them. So, If you like watching people grow shitty plants that will probably die then this is the diary for you. Come along....
Well they are mostly alive still. We made it to day 7. I have been trying to give them a little water every day but they dry out fast so I watered them a little heavier today. They are in peat pots with ffof soil. Got them under a mars 150 watt cranked up to about 50% power. The margalope and platonium are doing as well as can be expected, but the strawberry haze x banana og didn't develop the first set of leaves normally so it's looking pretty mangled and deformed. I'm not gonna give up on it yet though. Just going to try to give them the right amount of water and keep chugging along. If you came hoping they would be dead, sorry to disappoint. But dont lose hope, it could happen next week. See ya then.
Nope, not dead yet! They are all still alive. The leaves are looking a little lighter than I like, but they are doing ok. Just been trying to keep them watered enough but not too much. I think I have overwatered a little. Roots are starting to grow out of the bottom of the pots and prune themselves. These pots seem to suck the moisture out of the soil pretty fast. I feel like they need a light feeding but I'm going to hold off and see if getting their moisture level right will help. This soil growing is a lot of work. It just doesn't excite me much. I'm going to give them another week, then probably flip the light to 12 hours so we can see if the margalope and strawberry haze x banana og are girls.
I let the plants dry out too much then overwatered them so along came the issues.... I dont have the patience to hand water them so I pulled them from the dirt, washed the roots and planted a couple in a 5 gallon dutch bucket. Fuck the bs. I planted the margalope but added the platonium to the same bucket just in case the the marg is a male. They are running in the same system with the big plants. They will either adjust, or burn up and die. The banana og x strawberry haze is still holding on by a root or 2 in the dirt. Thinking about moving it outdoors soon
Both the margalope and banana og x strawberry haze were males so that's a wrap for this diary. I cut the platonium top off and put it in the cloner. Not sure what I will do with it yet....
Shitty plants that will probably die...count me in!😉
That FFOF is pretty hot..when you do transplant them, suggest making a little pocket with some extra vermiculite or perlite mixed in so the virgin root tips don't burn right up. (been there, done that😒)
@Silverback_Guerilla, lol anybody who knows me knows I'm a master at killing plants in dirt. I was kinda concerned about the ffof but they seem to be slowly making progress. Just been trying not to overwater. I will definitely try to mix something in to cut the strength of the soil next time.
