Almost all of my seeds popped. Unfortunately one of my wedding cakes didn't make it :( Bruce banner took a lot longer than usual, I went straight into the 3-gallon pot with those guys. Most of the ladies poked through. A success of 90%. The beginning of this journal started too late so there will be pictures and details missing but I will catch up for the rest of the growth.

I put them in solo pots and then in a propagation tray with a heating mat under them set to 77F. I sprayed the cover with water about once a day so the humidity stayed around 80%-95%. Then once the stem was pushed out I didn't wait to use the light. I used one of those propagation hps bulbs for the first week. After the propagation tray, I then placed them on top of their future homes because it was just convenient for me. I pretty much just forgot about them and watered about once a day or other day. They all grew very healthy. However, a 1991 OG, Wedding cake did not sprout correctly so I threw it away. Now I am left with 13.

This week has been fast paced! Every water I have done has been with raw silica so far. Nothing else!! I can definitely notice a huge difference in growth speed and health. We will have to transplant soon! I have upped the light on the SP 3000 from 10% to 40% and haven’t seen signs of stress yet. So far. Awesome grow. I’m just riding it out and enjoying less work more green… the living soils seem to be doing fantasfic.

Grow Questions

What causes mutation? Is it the strains? Will silica do this to the plants? I'm interested to know exactly why this happens or if anything triggers it.

Hello. When you get right down to it, Cosmic Rays cause mutations. A Cosmic Ray can damage a part of the DNA which the cell repairs, but doesn't always get it right. That is where the mutation comes out. Mostly the strain passes the mutation on to the next generation. The mutations can be either good and helpful or bad and destructive for the plant. Chuck.
