I got 2 clones of white zerbert and one of gelato 41. They were clipped on 2/14 and transplanted on 2/24. Only the left WZ had roots showing on transplant, but I was heading out of town and I had to transplant a little early.
Overall a good week. I came back from vaca after about 10 days. The Gelato 41 has taken off and grown immensely. The White Zerbert seem to be much slower and he roots are nowhere near as developed. I had a WZ planted with the Gel41 on the right and I removed it and planted it on the side in some coco. I only got the extra clone just in case one died while I was gone.
This week I topped the Gel41, but am going to hold off on the WZ for now until it shows a little more growth.
The humidity in the tent is hovering between 30-40% I put the humidity dome back over the WZ. Hopefully the extra humidity helps with the growth.
2/10 update: yesterday I noticed spider mite damage on one of my plants and sure enough, I found some on all of them. I did a home remedy of alcohol, water, and a drop of dish soap and applied it as a foliar spray. I also mixed 50/50 iso and water, soaked a Kleenex with it, and wiped each leaf off individually.
Today I had some Dr zymes show up as well as some azamax. I am going to hit them hard over the next few weeks to try and get rid of them and then do weekly applications up until flower.
To help slow their progress, I added a humidifier to the tent and am using 2 clip fans, a 18" dia oscillating fan, and a 24x24 box fan. No, they are not on high, just trying to keep the plants dancing at all angles to help shake the mites off. I am also dropping the temp to about 60-65 at night. I'm really hoping I can get them under control quickly.
I also had my chiller get clogged up today, so I gave that a good flush and clean. It's been a hell of a week this week.
Since I was in there, I also topped my other plant.
They are pulling through. I have began treatments for the spider mites and I am still having some good growth. Hopefully, I can keep them at Bay since I caught them early. The Gelato has the most damage, but is also growing faster than the WZ.
Both plants have been topped. I increased my lights to 50% strength. There were some brown leaf tips from last week showing some nute burn when I used 75% strength nutes. This week I dropped it to 50% strength, I will keep a sharp eye out for deficiencies since the ppm is down to 440.
I have still been treating for spider mites every 3 days while spot spraying with iso and water in between treatments.
The Gelato 41 is still a bit further ahead than the WZ, but the WZ seems to be catching up and looking better each day.
I had some early root rot starting up, mainly on the gel 41. My water chiller got clogged up and my res temps increased. The problem has been fixed. I did a res change and soaked the roots in h202 before replacing the nutes.
I feel like these plants have been slow growing during veg. Hopefully they pick it up over the next couple weeks before flip.
Rough week on this one. On top of the spider mites, I found out there was a root ball or mildew or something that got stuck in my water chiller. My pump wasn't able to flush it out and my water flow almost stopped completely. I bought a stronger pump, shot that crap out of it, and let it run with bleach solution overnight to sterilize it.
My res shot up to 78 and root rot took hold very quickly. Once I saw it, I immediately pulled the plants and got them soaking in a h202 solution with no nutes for about 3 days. Once added back to the nutes, I removed the non sterile nutes and added about 0.4 ml of bleach to the 7 gallon reservoir.
These plants were on their way out in a hurry, hopefully they can pull through
I think they will pull through! After the h202 rinse and adding a touch of bleach to the nutes, the plants started to rebound. I was about to trash them and actually started some new seeds.
But! I saw a few leaves starting to perk up. Checked the res and I had an explosion of new root growth! Then the plant started vegging like normal again! I am going to be using hydroguard in the res from now on as a precaution.
I put the scrog back in and we are on our way again! Now I can start back with the spider mite treatments and we should be in the clear. The mite problem has improved as well, hopefully I should be out of the woods in a couple weeks. I'm also going to be applying azamax weekly as a foliar spray just in case
I moved these to a different setup. Both plants are now growing in a 3x3 tent with a 300 watt mars hydro led light. The plants are responding well to the new light and environment. The Gelato 41 is getting pretty big but the WZ is a little behind. I'm probably going to switch to flower in a week and accept the lower yield of the WZ.
Today I fimmed the branches and will be going out of town. Once they recover, I'm going to send them to flower.
Overall a good week. I came back from being out of town and the gelato had really taken off. For fear of running out of room, I switched to 12/12 on 3/23. The WZ probably won't be as big, but the gelato should get plenty large enough to fill in the spaces on my scrog net.
It took a few weeks to get these girls healthy and growing again, but now they are going strong. Looking forward to seeing if my problems at the start are going to effect the yield at the end.
Great week this week. Good growth, stable temps and no major signs of nute burn or deficiencies. I have been weaving them into my scrog and starting the lollipop process by removing the tiny lower branches that won't make it to the screen. My screen is getting full, hopefully the stretch will be over soon.
Another good week! I am hoping the stretch is done. My scrog is full so now they have to start growing up, some of the branches in the rear of the tent are a few inches ahead of the rest due to running out of room.
I have never used these lights before, so the few high branches will help me dial in my lighting distance. I am closer than manufacturer recommendations already, but the plants aren't showing any stress. They also are not huge eaters, so I dropped my ppm to 675 to see how they do. It's crazy how low you can go in DWC.
Strong week this week, my plants outgrew the rear of my scrog quicker than the front so my canopy is sort of at a slant. Other than that, great growth this week and alot of buds that are starting to swell a bit.
Great progress this week, the buds are really filling in. The WZ is already showing some purple in the buds. The Gel 41 literally smells like grape Kool aid, I was way more excited for the WZ at the start, but the Gel 41 is really starting to change my thoughts. It looks to be a very heavy producer as well.
The buds are growing in nice and getting very sparkly. The white Zerbert has got the purple coming in. The gelato 41 smells amazing and is starting to swell quite a bit. Great week this week, excited to see how they turn out
These plants are cursed, I swear. I found a spider mite infestation on week 7 and treated them with some Dr zymes. It seems to have been quite effective actually. I harvested the effective area at the end of week 9 after almost a week of flushing. My flush brought the ppm down to about 400 with only cal mag and canna bloom. Just waiting for ripening now. The WZ definitely didn't perform as well as the gelato but it looks beautiful, so purple it's almost black. I took some clippings to monster crop another batch of this one. I want another shot at it, hopefully they root.
