•Germinated within 24 hours and placed in Rapid Rooter plugs inside of seedling trays with humidity domes.
•Set up grow room (T: 70-78F, RH: 60-75%) with custom 5gal bucket RDWC fallponic system with outside reservoir and in-line 440gph water pump, 4” air discs, 6” net pots, LECA.
•This will be my first run in hydro so I’m growing in soil on the other side of the 4x4 tent for comparison.
•I plan on using TPS nutrients Component Series kit for both hydro and soil.
•The Super Lemon and West Coast OG seedlings were the biggest and stronger looking of the 4 seeds germed so I transplanted those into RDWC and the Blue Dream and Stardawg into 5gal fabric pots filled with FFOF mix of soil etc.
•Fed @ ~50% nutrient mix and using Canopy Boost as foliage spray.
•Good and steady growth.
•Blue Dream and Stardawg are growing like I’d expect and the RDWC plants are slow going.
•At the end of week 1 after transplant and start of week 2, Started to LST Blue Dream/Stardawg.
•A lot of good growth this week.
•Fed 1 liter @ 400ppm
•lst/tuck leaves nearly everyday and they’re showing good horizontal growth-need to keep them short and wide.
•End of week 2 and start of week 3.
•A lot of good growth.
•lst almost everyday to keep canopy flat and producing more colas.
•Defoliated bottom leaves on both to put more energy into producing top growth.
•Fed 2/23 @ ~500 PPM
•Watering every day to every other day with plain PHd water 6.5.
•Trying to water only as needed to hopefully reduce the chance of any gnats since my last grow I think I was overwatering and that led to fungus gnats.
•Increase LED intensity to 100%
•Rotated plants to spread light to other sides of plants to even out canopies.
•Start of week 4 and the Blue Dream is having issues-maybe Mg deficiency. It’s weird because it looks very similar to the Lemon that I have in hydro. They both have dark veins and fades to a light green to yellow. The new growth has kind of slowed and I cannot figure out what to do. Wondering what is causing this issue because the Stardawg is doing fine in the same soil mix, nutes, etc.
•Stardawg may be the only good plant left.
•Flushed the Blue Dream thinking it was nute burn/lock and found the PH of the runoff is in the high 5’s. -topdressed soil with lime and watering at PH 7.
•Started bloom nutes, but it’s like they skipped the huge late veg preflower burst.
3/16 - Stardawg looking nice and budding, but the Blue Dream seems like something is wrong. PH of runoff was a little acidic at just under 6. Added lime and will water at PH7 to try to correct the issue since I’m sure it’s affecting the nute uptake and that’s why it isn’t as healthy looking.
3/20 - heading into week 2 flower/week 6 overall. Stardawg is healthy budding, but the Blue Dream is having issues. Flushed it with FloraKleen and tap water PH 6.5 runoff at 1080PPM which for soil doesn’t seem that high, but it looks like it has nute burn/lock from ph issues before. PH is fixed now and PPM seems good so hope it’ll recover. Now have the West Coast OG (1) transplanted and the Lemon auto in soil.
3/23 - Blue Dream is struggling with PH issues. Soil has to be around PH 5 as the runoff from water @ PH 6.5 is just under 6.0 and PPM ~1400. I don’t know if I should keep flushing or just transplant into new soil because constant flushing is giving me signs of overwatering, K def, and stunted growth during flower. The Stardawg is budding good may have slight N tox, but nothing to worry about. Runoff of stardawg is ~ PH 6.3 and PPM 1800.
3/24 - flushed Blue Dream with ~3 gal and Stardawg with ~2 gal dechlorinated tap water. Brought the PPM on both way down. BD ~950 from 1800. SD ~1200 from 1900. PH on both are within range now, hope it stays. BD has hardly grown while SD is budding decent.
3/27 - end of week 6 let them dry out a bit over the past few days. Decided to do another small flush with FK to get an idea of where the PPM and PH are at. Both plants are now in ideal ranges with Blue Dream coming out at ~750 and Stardawg ~900. PH is 6.5-6.7. Gave BD light nute solution at ~300PPM.
4/5 - pistils have darkened and buds are fattening a little on Stardawg. Pissed I was too late on fixing the soil ph and the Blue dream is basically dead so I’m pulling it. It didn’t affect the stardawg as much but it definitely would have helped.
