HolyHerbs Hello, Its been for about 4 or 5 weeks now since ive germinated my 18 Cannalope haze seeds. I have had some problems with them because im not really used to the little needs of a small plant (from seed). I started to enthuasiastic with the spray in week 1 or 2 and all their little heads got burned under the light (that was too bright also). Well this felt really stupid and the only thing i could do was sit, roll a joint and wait for a couple of weeks to see how they would survive this. A couple of weeks later i didnt loose any of the 20 seedlings but some were more damaged than others. 3 of them were still alive but didnt rly make any move. I took the 8 plants that did the best and they are growing quite uniform. Thats not ideal for a pheno hunt because then u might end up having all the same phenos BUT i tought i had no choice. My thoughts were that when i was planning a selection round, i couldnt rly select if some were really far behind, that wouldnt be fair to the potential scale selection. I threw away 3 others and so i have 2x 8 plants. The second 8 will be kept alive and im going to clone them so i can let them have an equal start, they will be filling the tent for the second pheno hunt round. Plants got transplanted from 1.5l to 60lpots. 2 per pot. As you can see i prepared the plants on having 4 main branches and i cut every branche above it. I will use this upper part of the plant to make a cutting and top them at the same time. I didnt need the cutting to have alot of branches/leafs so i trimmed them to let the plant send her energy to the lower branches and the part i want to clone. Going to cut them this week, let them recover and put them into bloom. See you in the next ;)

HolyHerbs Took a bit for them to reach the net again after the topping but here we are again. Today will be their first day at 12/12 so im making my compost tea to water with it tomorrow. I have an ongoing problem with trips... I use some products to prevent my plant from being eaten but it doesnt rly work that good i assume so i ordered some predator mite breedbags. The mites will be born for about 4 weeks if it works properly so it should kill more generations of trips. Fingers crossed.. 😎

HolyHerbs 6 days has passed and the net is nicely filling. Cutting # 5, 6, 7 and 8 have been rooted in respectively 7 and 8 days without really caring for them, so thats satisfying. #5 seems to be a very fast and strong plant, lets hope its also a delicious one. I dont want to defoliate if i dont have to so i bend alot of leafs under the net and the new growth.

HolyHerbs Day 14 12/12 Last day ill spray them with additives and tomorrow i will spray them with water only to dissolve the last additives thats left on the surface of the plant. I try to bend back the leafs instead of removing them. Every morning the leafs are up and in front of the smaller buds so i move them down. The next day theyre all bend back up but my experience is that if i keep doing this until the stretch is out of them, it works. This way i dont loose any real chlorofyl for photosynthesis. The leafs wont operate as good as they would do usually but still do better then when theyre totally removed. Some phenos definitely grow faster and taller with huge leafs, i get a real hybrid feeling from them with that excesive growth. Some grow slower but their budds will be closer to each other and denser, one of them smells very fresh watermelon ish. Might keep one of these for my personal smoke if its really good but i think it doesnt give me opportunity to do quick grows with relatively few plants. In the 2nd group of the 8 out of the16 plants that i put up for the test theres one that is kinda long and thin probably sativa leaning pheno that im quite curious about but gotta be patient i gues :)

HolyHerbs Theyve been stretching like a giraffe, hope it stops now! Some are crazy stretchers and there are some that have a far more compact grow, and one of them is smelling water mellonish.. I still have hope for a stretching pheno to have a good taste/smell outcome. If all stretch is out im gonna place the light a bit higher but by keeping it this low i hope they keep a bit more compact. If i replace the light a bit higher everyday i will only stimulate more stretch and thats not what i want. Plants dont seem to have troubles with the high ppfd ( ~1100+) yet but i think the leafs will bleach if i keep it like this. Also the heat at the highest buds is too much now; it will decrease the potency. Ciao

HolyHerbs Growing steady. When i took these 8 plants and put them into flower they all kinda looked the same, some were a little bigger but not much. Now they all seem to have their own sort of buds. Its a treat to open the tent every morning :) smell is nice sweet fresh Oh and the second round is hopefully on the way. I had no room for more cuttings so i tried something new called "air layering" if im correct. Practically rooting the new plants without cutting them from the mother. I might not have 100% succesrate but ill cope with that.

HolyHerbs I predict most will be ready at 8 weeks. One can maybe be chopped down at 7,5 week and the one with the big candles will be 9 or more. Its hard to say which plant i will keep because some buds are extreme dense while others are a bit fluffy. Also the trichs on 2 plants (more golf ball buds) look the best. Just have to wait it out i gues..

HolyHerbs I thought one could be chopped at 7.5 week but it didnt develop the amber trichomes i hoped for. New plan is to chop them all at 8.5 week ( same time as my amnesia has to flower) so i can pick the best phenotype to grow side to side with my amnesia haze.

HolyHerbs Harvest day 60. I cut one plant already and am going to do the rest today and tomorrow. The budd was crazy dense en hard. Some fluff underneath but its all good for a testgrow/phenohunt. This way i can see how much i need to defoliate/lollipop next time if i keep the strain. Edit: Harvest result is okay. I smoked one of all of them and even tho its not cured at all some phenos already are very nice. The flavour is a bit weird to me, like sweet and herbal.. like some parfume for men or cassis ?😅 I like it nonetheless! #1: 29g #2: 26.5g #3: 23g #4: 45.5g #5: 86g #6: 36.5g #7: 50.5g #8: 36.5g I posted a picture that will give an idea about what pheno was where in the tent. Total of 293.5g / 240W = 1.22 g/w 293.5g/60 flower days = 4.89g a day Thats the equivalent of a Lix grow with 230g / 240 w = 0.95 g/w 230g/47 flower days = 4.89g a day

HolyHerbs Harvest is drying slowly and smells really grassy.. 😕 New round. There is 7 new cannalope haze phenotypes. One is a double one made from air layering.

I see you are using a Blumat digital moisture sensor.. have you ever tried out the Blumat Tropf System?

HolyHerbs commented3y ago
@Fayah_Burn, Never rly used it but I got one laying around. It's supposed to work fine, just need to test it properly after setting up. I heard sometimes when ppl dont set up right the water keep running. Oh and I would never connect it to a tap directly but that's me. Rather a tank that should be refilled every couple of days by someone (if you're on holiday).

@HolyHerbs, I think it is a good holiday solution for a week or two at max, depending on the reservoir size. You don't want the system to run out of water, if it runs dry "that someone" will have to unplug everything soak the clay cones plug everything together again then water all the pot's by hand to be able to adjust the system from scratch. That would mean a lot more work than just watering by hand. But if you got like a 50 liter reservoir and you set up everything properly i think you could go for holidays a week or two without needing someone, or if so only for a quick security check.. 🤔 But i'm not sure if i would put any nutes in that water. Actually if you have one i think it would go hand in hand with the way you grow, since you use "living soil" and dont wanna flush out any nutes or let your soil get to dry. The mulch may get mold but im not sure if that is really bad or even a positive thing..who knows, a lot of growers panic when they see funghi.. i just don't like them on my buds, fungal activity in the soil is not a sign i think.. well, i'm drifting away from what i wanted to say..lol

@Fayah_Burn, ye it works well with growing organic, that's right. Wouldn't rly do it with nutes but I wouldn't grow at all with those nutes anymore. The hassle is not worth it. Only think about flushing the last weeks of flower.. That's not needed with organic... I would do a tank that has the size of 2 days watering max. Then let someone refill it every other day. This way it can't go wrong. Even if it goes wrong it will be only about 10l water. I have fish so someone need to come every other day anyway. And people I know don't wanna give water the way I do, takes time. This way they can just throw in some water and everything is fine.
