Good breeders will try and ween out the drastic differences in phenotypes to create a stable product. That's what separates them from the rest.
Sometimes you will see on the breeders web page there are two main phenotypes you can expect within a plant.
To be frank the majority of the seed brands out their are not breeding the plants themselves, they are just reselling bulk seed.
My main issues is when a company sells a plant for its colour alone and then the phenotype is 50/50 green vs purple/red.
You may also notice some different smells within them as well not just their growth patterns.
