(2/27) - Around 9 PM, I heated 1/2 cup of DI water for a minute in the microwave and soaked the jiffy pellets, then put them about a half-inch deep into the soil and covered them up. I set the grow light 24" from the top of the pellets at 25%, and closed the humidity dome. (2/28) - When I woke up this morning the dome was at 88% RH so I opened it to let them breathe for a few minutes, which brought them down to 83% RH and 75 F. By the evening the humidity rose to 88% RH and the temperature was 78 F, so I let them breathe again which decreased the humidity in the dome to 83% RH. (3/1) - The dome is at 75 F and 90% RH this morning, I'm going to continue to let them air out to target between 80-90% RH. (3/2) - Around 5 pm today all three of them decided to start making their way out of the soil. About 67 hours after placing them in the pellets, which seems pretty fast. Now seems like an appropriate time to name them (GSC = Thin Mints), (Banana Kush = Daisy), (Blue Dream = Luna). (3/3) - Thin mints and Daisy are seedlings, Luna is one day away from showing her little leaves. (3/4) - All three are officially seedlings now, going to move them to their new home this evening.

(3/4) - Added some DI water to the jiffy pellets, cut off the net, and transferred them to solo cups filled with Fox Farms Ocean Forest. Added water to the soil and placed them in the tent. Set the grow light to 50% brightness at 24 inches. Setup the humidifier to control the humidity at 75%. (3/5) - The humidifier nozzle was set on auto instead of humidity control and created puddles in the tent and soaked the carbon filter lining. I dried up the water puddles and adjusted the humidifier to point in a different direction. Turned off the humidifier for now. (3/6) - Keeping humidifier off today, currently around 50% RH. All the plants are ~1.75 inches tall and they're growing their second set of leaves. (3/7) - The tent is fully dried out, going to turn on the humidifier at 55% and adjust the grow light to 75% power. (3/8) - I suspect the airflow through the tent may be too low. Another plant I started before these was showing signs that look like overwatering, but I think it's taken a long time to recover because the airflow is so low. I'm going to adjust the airflow control up from ~40% to 100% to see if conditions improve. (3/9) - Higher airflow caused the soil to dry out pretty quick. I'm going to water today and keep the airflow at 100%. I watered the plants with 10 fl oz of water and Daisy got slightly more on accident, probably about 4.5 fl oz.

(3/11) - I realized the stunted plant was in a solo cup too long, time for an emergency re-potting before vacation! RATS! I cut some roots off and "re-organized" some soil, but they'll be okay. I gave them 10 oz of water which they split evenly, for 3 girls in the same room the lack of drama is surprising🤣 fingers crossed its stays that way while I'm gone🤞 (3/14) - They're looking dry after returning from vacation and I think they're ready for some half-strength nutes. I'm using half DI water, half tap water, and mixed up the nutes as described above. Watered with 1.5 cups of solution and 0.5 cups of tap water per plant focusing on the soil directly around the plant, this amount of water provided just enough to see a small runoff. Set the grow light to 100% power. (3/16) - Watered with 3 cups of tap water each. The runoff pH is extremely low... BD = 5.21, BK = 5.09, GSC = 4.78. I didn't check the pH of the nutrient water on (3/14), oh well, noob mistake, I'd rather just fix the pH next time than flush. (3/17) - Doing good :)

(3/20) - Watered with 25% nutes and 4 cups of water each, pH adjusted to 7.46 this time. The runoff pH is BK = 6.6, BD = 6.56, GSC = 6.74. The light is now 22" from the plant. (3/22) - Topped Luna and Thin Mints. Tried to take off as little as possible. (3/24) - Based on the drooping I think I may be watering slightly late :(. Watering 5 cups with a little less than 25% nutes, pH adjusted to 7.15. The runoff pH was BD = 5.73, GSC = 6.1, BK = 6.17. As i water new parts of the soil the pH lowers because of the nutes built into the soil. No worries, they'll be happy to have water. I'm going to expect that they need some water on Saturday and check.

(3/25) - It's amazing how quickly they bounce back when they get the water and nutrients they need. They've already reached back to the light after the light LST from yesterday. Pulled them back down and tucked some leaves out of the way to expose the lower branches to light. (3/26) - Just noticed some yellow/brown discoloration on Thin Mints and after further inspection, it's on all of them. After doing some research I believe it is nutrient burn caused by low pH. (3/27) - I'm more confident that it is caused by low pH now and I've decided to do a flush on Thin Mints and make sure that Luna and Daisy are getting 20% runoff volume which I haven't been doing. I could not lower the pH on Thin Mints even after flushing with probably close to 5 gallons, I even raised the pH to 8.5 and it still came out below 6. The final pH I got was 5.8, the other two have runoff of 6.2 and 6.1. For some reason there is something keeping the pH of this soil below 6, I didn't add anything, I think it's a bad batch of FFOF, I ordered a two-pack from amazon and only 1 came, so I think this was the last one on the shelf :(. (3/28) - Luna and Daisy are looking better than yesterday and I'm not too worried about them, they seem healthy. Thin Mints on the other hand seems to still be deteriorating, I touched her most yellow/brown leave today and it was so stiff it broke. I'm not really sure what else I can do to fix her, I'm just gonna hope things workout. (3/30) - Watered before vacation. Still fighting low pH issues

Is what I'm currently seeing nutrient burn due to low pH? If so, what can I do to fix a consistently low runoff pH (7.1 in 5.6 out)?

Your ph is out of line and your fighting lock out. Run ideal ph water through till ph is right then re add nutrition.

(4/4) - The pH issues in the soil are definitely showing. Going to water with high pH water 7.8 for 1 gallon, runoff pH was 6.7-7. (4/5) - Did a flush with tap water (pH = 7.74) for 5 min each plant. Watered down to the bottom of the plant, the soil was very displaced and all the perlite came to the top.

(4/11) - The pH is now somewhat in range, but I think some of them are becoming more alkaline. Will start watering with target pH water and then adjust to get back to the target pH.

Hey there friend. Congratulations on getting into growing cannabis! I think you are gonna really like it here at growdiaries. looking at your diary, Would you be alright with me offering some pointers? So cannabis plants LOVE heat and humidity. It is the buds that hate it. In veg we want to take advantage of this fact to help our plants grow along much quicker and more vigorously. In veg we can look for temps of 79-84 MAX with lights on & no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. If we allow for too much temperature swing between lights on and lights off while the plant is still growing vertically up to day 20 of flower, We will cause the plant to stretch ALOT which we do not want. So in veg & early flower, Keeping our temperature gaps nice and close between lights on and off is key. Utilizing humidity in our rooms during veg will also help out a lot with more rapid growth but we must introduce it properly. In our rooms we have our temperature and humidity set-points, But when we combine those 2 it forms a third set-point which is the most important & that is called VPD, Vapor pressure deficit. I strongly recommend every new grower or old grower who has not learned it yet, To study and understand it & implement it into your room, Logging your numbers daily. https://cerescann.com/importance-of-measuring-vpd/ For soil, We generally want to go for a PH of 6.1. This website does a GREAT job of illustrating it with a nice graph & very good detailed explanation for soil. https://autoflowerseedshop.com/cannabis-ph-chart-guide/ As we briefly touched on before, During veg & early flower we want our temperature gap's nice and tight to avoid stretch. Why exactly our plants stretch in response to this is a genetic trigger being activated by the environmental stress essentially telling the plant the end of the season is closer than it really is. In veg & early flower the plant is still in its first stage of development which is to grow up wide and tall so when it produces seed, It can cast them out nicely. Remember, Whether we are growing our plants for seed or bud their genetic responses do not change as they gh sidedo not know any different. Once the plant has finished that first stage of growth by weeks 4-6 of flower with most strains, It is by day 20 of flower. Autoflowers you have to watch for it, But once the plant has finished this goal its new mission is to focus 100% on producing nice big flower clusters & to get very sticky so it can attract pollen to it successfully. So once that vertical growth is finished, We actually now want to begin to expose our plants to larger temperature swings between lights on and lights off. This will help activate that genetic response and allow us to draw out the most potential from the strain utilizing the plants genetic triggers to environmental stresses at the right times. We can also take this a step further with doing light deprivation in the last 2 weeks using less light to simulate cloud cover. Very cold feed temps on the last flush is very good too. If you do not have them already, Get yourself a good PAR meter & thermal laser temp gun to monitor your plant top temperatures & optimize how much light your plants are getting. We are currently in the middle of producing a very comprehensive tutorial series for everybody to learn from & understand how to grow the highest level craft cannabis all on their own. If this interests you please check out our youtube and subscribe. The first 2 episodes are out the next one is coming in a few days. If you should ever have any questions or need any help, Please feel free to follow my profile and shoot me a DM. I will gladly help you with the pull down & make sure you get the best quality harvest possible as it is the most important step of the entire process. Happy growing friend!
