21Apr: The Uttarakhand reminds me again and again that it's a different beast - a 'stranger in a strange land'
Another seed popped up from the sand last week! This little guy germinated in hot & dry sand for at least 30 days and then poof was up and showing Uttarakhand's tendency to have very poorly formed leaves after the seed opens. This one must have had better roots as I scooped out a sturdy ball from the sand with a spoon and you can see it in the lower right of the pic. Hopefully warmer weather has these gaining ground next week. I must keep reminding myself these wont mature until december or later, and the Uttarakhand & Nanda Devi regions are deeply snowed in right now, and little plants must be used to cold, slow starts. I have significantly upped the perlite when repotting these, FWIW. Have a good week.
