Kicking off a new grow! I'm going to grow these ALL ORGANIC. I'm going to share the grow with a photoperiod Durban poison (see other diary). Plan is to veg the photo while the autos do their thing. Once the autos are harvested I can flip the single DP to make a monster plant Nothing here should be surprising. I'm using paper towel method and a sandwich bag as a humidity dome under a small light that is starting some other non-cannabis seeds. Looking forward to a happy grow!! Update: Germinated nicely in 48 hours and transplant to soil

Ugh. I screwed up this week pretty big time but trying to recover. I got too cocky and stripped the seedlings helmets too quickly and I may have killed one. The seedling membrane was still stuck on so I gently cleaned those off. One of the seedlings wasn't opening up so I forced that too and saw true leaves coming out inside. The other seedling is dying or dead, but I was hoping for three all at once. There was also a little runt that popped up that I think sprung from the discarded helmet, I've called it lil runty. It is growing but obviously very small. It may have to replace the dying seedling. Sucks to have hurt my end product so much from week one. Since they're autos the clock is already ticking. One seedling remains healthy and growing great. I'm halfway considering plucking them all and starting from scratch. Time will tell how they live. Also I'm growing them in the tent but it's currently flowering so at night I'm pulling them out to the light they germinated under every night. Then I waited 2 days. I'm almost positive they're dead and it's likely my fault for killing them. I've sowed new seeds directly into the soil to prevent myself from plucking helmets too early. A week later and those seedlings are definitely dead, as well as lil runty. Popped my last 2 seeds. We have new germination. Plucked the dead seedlings and starting a week later on these newbies.

Slow week and I'm probably a bit behind on growth. I'm not getting full effective lighting which will definitely impact yield. Buttt I'm not growing for yield so much as to squeeze another harvest in awaiting my Durban poison plant. Just water and soil for now. I expect growth will pick up soon and transplant in a week to richer soil.

Still just little plants doing their thing. I'm going to transplant the big one next week into super soil, then the ones a week behind into super soil. Still just water and FFOF soil that's all they need right now. The tent they are in has been freed up with the harvest of one of my photos. The other one will be harvested soon freeing the tent up to go a full 24 hour grow light, though I will probably stick with 18-19 hours since the extra hours will barely make a difference.

Whew this was a long long week so this post is a little late. I harvested the plant that was in the tent so I could kick it back to full gear for these plants and boy do they need it. After reading a lot of GD here, I've learned that I am REALLY behind in growth so it's time to kick up the nutes and light to make up for lost time. This week I have created a super soil. It's about equal parts fox farm ocean forest, compost, and decomposed manure. In addition I've added bone meal for slow releasing phosphorus to be sucked up during flower. These plants are finally getting everything they need so hopefully some good growth comes soon.

The super soil and full time grow lights have done a LOT of work. Unfortunately, time has not been on my side and there's already signs of preflowers on the oldest one. I need to get some LST in stat. Lesson learned: I'm not gonna start my autos until I can give them the full attention of the grow light. I was trying to be fancy with starting them while my other plants finished up but I lost a great deal of veg time and growth. Hard to believe I'm nearing the halfway point for these when they've barely started. I wanted to top but it's far too late for that now. When I transplanted I used a good deal of water to help the plant settle into the soil. I used a bit too much on the back one and it choked for a few days as you can see from the droopy low leaves. She's recovering quite well now that the water evaporated. Another setback but I'm not giving up

Great great growth this week. Pics only taken 5 days after last week so we are for sure hitting the explosive growth period. Shoutouts to Fastbuds for their amazing genetics. Giving them super soil and light made all the difference. Likely for future grows I'm going to sow direct in a prepared pot of super soil to get as much growth as possible. Notes for next time! I also 3d printed some plant clips. You could pay $15 for a set on Amazon so printing them at home was a huge save. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5328358 they're a little harder to use than tying down like I like but clipping is a lot less of a time drain. I might go back to my old ways but this has been working okay. I added in voodoo juice and piranha for the beneficial bacterias. And the results have really shown. They are both organic additives and the microbes should continue to live well in the super soil. I'll douse it a bit more but it amounts to only drops of them overall. This is day 43 for the old one and day 36 for the others. There's a good deal of preflowers showing on them all so I'll call this the last veg week. Catch you all next week 😎

Great week overall, plants are really starting to go fast. Flowering stretch will be soon. I am not sure how well my LST clips are better than my old method. Hopefully they work out well No more piranha or voodoo juice this week. The microbes should be living in the soil fine now. Going to start feeding carbs in the form of molasses soon.

Grow Questions

My older leaves are getting super crispy and browning. I'm about to defoliate them but I think it means there's a deficiency down the line. I'm thinking it's K deficiency especially now that flowering is starting. What might the issue be?

I don't think its a K deficiency. Plants need lots of K in later flowering stages. Plants like to absorb nutrients from leaves beneath the plant when they are having all kinds of deficiencies. Since other leaves are still looking green, i don't think its a CAL-MAG problem, most of the growers get those a few weeks later when not given any. What you could do is flush your plant a little bit and check your run-off. Check the PH and the EC. If you have the wrong PH, your plant doesn't use the giving nutrients well, if you have a low ec like 0.7-1, you are not giving enough nutrients. I don't know if you have something like enzymen? It is very usefull and it will make sure old nutrients inside your medium will get into use again. Some people still like to give their plants vegative nutrients for some weeks in flowering state and since you are still in your pre-flower, you should. I also would recommend to get rid of that leave, nothing good will come of leaving it on. Goodluck growing :)
