Seeds in from ILGM. 2nd order with them and these seeds arrived fast. I took pics of the envelope seeds come in and what seed packaging is like for those who haven't ordered from ILGM before and might just be curious. Not sure what I'll do with the sticker. It's not very subtle.
DAY 1:
Anyway paper towel method. I don't soak seeds since I live in a very humid climate. I use paper towels and wet and wrap in saran and leave on a sunny windowsill. I'll check on them tomorrow to see if any taproots come through.
I plan to try a Cannabonsai style plant inspired by Manny's Cannabonsai (look it up, they are so cute). I'm going to incorporate as much as possible what he does in his seed to Bonsai videos. I'm new to growing, and am excited to share my journey.
Day 2.
If you take a look at Reddit, there seems to be a loud majority that bags on ILGM. Saying things like seeds don't germ. Genetics bad. I suddenly felt very insecure about my purchase.
Would my seeds germinate?
Well I checked in the Panda Express napkin and there the two seeds had tap roots coming out. The one with the longer tap root went in her forever home-an 8" Bonsai container.
The other went into a small Dixie cup for later transplant. I'd like to try grow her roots longer before transplanting her to achieve and exposed root over rock vibe.
So far no complaints about ILGM as far as germination goes.
Until tomorrow!
Day 3.
Gel 1 has sprouted! #2 is working in it still.
Day 4
Gel 1 continues to make progress in the little Bonsai. Growing its cotyledons and tiny serrated leaves peeking out.
Gel 2 is behind. It came up above soil with seed still on. I gently removed shell and casing and covered it with cut off bottle top. Still waiting on cotyledons to unfold fully.
Until next time!
Day 6.
Well Gel 2 didn't germinate after all. She popped but maybe I messed up by plucking shell off, or I should've waited until her taproot was longer? You can definitely see the difference between the growth of the 2 seedlings and unfortunately, it looks like Gel2 won't survive the week.
I placed another seed in a paper towel to replace failed Gel2 with hopefully better results.
Day 7. well look who rose from the dead. I put Gel2 out of Dixie cup and buried her in a 1/2 gallon pot that I'm growing cooking herbs in. She wasn't there first thing this morning but it's about 8:30 am and I see her peeking out. She got some fight in her, I'll give her that.
