May 12: first full day outside and first foliar with Extreme Blend.
May 13: transplanted first OK Grape. These are regular seeds so early fast ones could be males.
May 14: briefly saw a bald eagle 🦅 hunting mice near the grow area. Very majestic bird.
June 27: regular seeds so likely two of these four are males. The two bigger ones are suspects. Culled first male already.
The blog for Lucky13 seeds has some great growing tips such as kelp4less.com as a good source for nutrients. Another tip is that the first male might not be the potent one you want for breeding.
July 3: added Power Bloom as top dressing at recommended 1 tbsp per gallon of soil and a handful of malted barley. The malt provides P and K but the main benefit are the enzymes provided. Malt is just sprouted and dried barley so this is similar to using a sprouted seed tea but way easier.
July 10: I have been expecting the biggest and best one to be a male but it still looks to be female.
July 23: transplanted last of the regular seed plants now that the males have been identified. Plants are kept in the 3 gallon pots and are nestled into a larger pot. Some diagonal slashes in smaller bag to help the roots expand. This sort of stacked bag arrangement is good in that there is minimal disturbance to the plant and it make watering easy in that you just focus on watering the inner ring to excess and let it drain down.
Aug 26: nearing end of 7 weeks which is what the breeder says this strain takes and it does seem close to done.
Aug 27: OK2 seems done, at least for top buds, and OK1 is close enough. Took total of 285 g wet (165 g and 120 g) as first round.
Sep 3: more than seven days since last update. Harvested tops several days ago and left lower buds to mature.
Sep 7: late season hailstorm did I some damage.
Sep 8: harvested second round. Hailstorm last night shredded the fan leaves but the buds are done anyway so that’s okay. Second round 340 g wet, and 625 g wet total so far.
Sep 12: took the rest, 145 g wet, for a total of 770 g from two plants.
Very nice strain from Lucky13. Okanagan Grape is a good robust plant that flowered quickly and produced nice buds. Not quite as fast as their Peanut Butter Herijuana or Frostberry but still pretty fast flowering. Nice job by the breeder.
