bellybean 04.28.22 Placed the five seeds in water for about 14 hours as required for the sellers guarantee, and then moved to wet paper towel on plate. Feel like I'm doing a kindergarten science project. Got the regular seeds since this will be for my own use and I would like to harvest seeds for the years to come. Hopefully I end up with five healthy seedlings and then at least one healthy female and one healthy male. I'm confused about why everyone isn't harvesting seed. I get that it can be annoying to have to pick out seeds before using the flower and there will be energy diverted to seed growth instead of flower growth, with how much each seed cost me, I really can't afford not to. My biggest concern is, since I'm growing outside I'll be covering up at the least the male to keep the pollen as local as possible. Will a light row cover work? This will be a grand adventure in gardening :D 04.29.22 All the seeds are viable. Planting into pots of basic seedling soil and placing on the east facing window (best I've got). Fingers crossed that at least 4 grow into seedlings. Found some useful reference resources on Kindle Unlimited about growing for seed. Hope I get there😅 05.02.22 I see seedlings coming up from the soil. So excited! 05.03.22 Five little seedlings reaching for the sun. Feeling good.

bellybean 05.18.2022 The limited amount of light is making them stretch. Filled up the empty space in the pots to encourage some root growth in the stretched out stem. They're all still alive so I guess it's going well. 05.23.2022 Walked into the living room this morning and I can already pick up the smell. Transplanting them into my garden box. Dreading my neighbor, who likes to look over the fence, asking me about them. Been trying to grow something tall along our shared fence but it is north-facing😅

bellybean 05.25.2022 Well, taking the leap and moving them into the garden box. They were starting to smell a bit. 05.26.2022 Just taking random notes for myself. Had the hardest time understanding flowering time since other seeds usually have information that uses terms like days to maturity or fruit. That's usually when you can expect tomatoes etc to start showing up in the garden. The term flowering time was throwing me off for some reason and got confused with "switching to 12/12". Outdoors, 12/12 doesn't happen until the fall equinox which up here is like end of September. How would that work if the harvest window indicated for this strain is early October?! Finally understood that the start of flowering outside is basically summer solstice, so end of June. Which is alot sooner than I thought. I hope the plants get alot bigger in the next 4 weeks. 05.28.2022 Pinched the tips off of the two south facing plants. I might pinch the other ones too if they seem fine next week.

bellybean 06.12.22 Is it week 5 or 6? Anyways, they're all still alive and it looks like I'll have to start figuring out which ones are male and female. There has been something eating some leaves but I have not found any caterpillars. I'm going to wait it out to see if the plants are affected much. For now they seem ok. I put tomato plant food spikes around the plants, I hope it's not too much for them.

bellybean 06.18.22 Still can't really tell which ones are male or female. I pinched the tops on all of them except one. I should label them. CKAL22A, CKAL22B, CKAL22C, CKAL22D, CKAL22E. CKAL22C has not had any pinching or trimming. D and E look like they might be male. I'm hoping A, B, and C are female but they might turn out to be boys too, just slower growing. E had a spot of what looked like rust that I ripped out. Sadly, my next door neighbor has roses that are getting rust.

bellybean 07.01.2022 Just waiting for all of them to grow pollen sacs and put me out of my misery😂 I don't see any stigmas so I'm preparing for all males. If that's the case, I'm chopping four down and ordering new feminised seed to try growing one in my aerogarden knock off. Hopefully I can harvest pollen at least. 07.06.22 Ugh, plant C that was never trimmed is going to get over the fence which is a no-no, and I made the terrible mistake of topping late when I should've just tried bending it😭

bellybean 07.16.22 Well, still no stigmas or pollen sacs as far as I can tell. Tying down the plants because I am worried they will grow over the fence, even after pinching the new growth a month in, and the late topping at 2 months. Used some basic gardening fertilizer when I watered last week. I may have spotted powdery mildew on the middle plant which is hardly surprising considering the out of ordinary amount of rain we've had since the beginning. Tying down the plants will not help with air circulation but I don't feel like I know the plant well enough to prune. 07.20.2022 Plants are already trying to get taller again. Adjusting the tied down branches to keep things as low as possible. No sign of pollen sacs or stigmas.

bellybean Plant A is definitely male. I've got sacs and no hairs. Will add photos tomorrow. The other plants aren't showing yet but I'm hopeful that this is because they are females and won't be showing for a couple more weeks.

at the beginning everything feels so slow... Have you ever grow anything by seed? It's exponencial, at some point it's going to get big fast. Wish you a great grow!! Ps. If they are Photoperiod you must complement the light schedule with a normal led (5w~15w) to 18h of light, so it get a good size before flowering.

@Psilocubensis, yeah, I guess I'm just less eager for the garden vegetables. Since I'm growing cannabis this year I probably won't have any veggies planted. I tend to overcrowd my veggie garden and lose promising tomatoes to wildlife. I'm going to try to focus on the cannabis, I've never planted such expensive seed before😅 I am thinking of moving the cannabis into the garden box very soon but I'm feeling nervous.
