I've put 3 seeds between saturated paper towels and put it in a box.
2 days later all 3 seeds were cracked but only one was showing decent tap root development.
Since I'll be going away for a few days I've planted all seeds in their respective 19 liter plantsack container, gave them water and nutrients (Advanced Nutrients Jungle Juice: 3.3ml of Micro, Grow and Bloom in 10 liters of water, spread over the 3 plants) and put a dome on top to keep humidity levels in balance
The coco mix I'm using is from Cellmax, which is prebuffered with calcium and magnesium. I've flushed the soil twice with nutrients, leaving 8 hours between flushes, just to be sure the plants get the best start regarding nutrients
NOTE:
It says week 1 of veg but actually this is week 2 of germination.
When I started germinating my seeds a week ago, I only had 4 days before I had to leave for 5 days again*.
The seeds took three days to crack open and very unfortunately I had no time to wait until the rap root was developed enough.
On day 4 I planted the seeds, and although all three were cracked open, only one seed was sporting a tap root (of only 1mm). I planted them and hoped for the best.
When I came home yesterday I saw no growth whatsoever from two seeds so I dug them up and saw that their tap root was twisted around the seed itself.
I replanted those two weaker seeds, barely covering them with coco.
The seeds that had the best germination was doing the best (relatively speaking) but was still underground. I cleaned it and today I've noticed improvement. This one's finally back on track.
I'm hoping I'll see some life from the other two seeds soon and that the last week won't affect their growth/lifecycle a lot since the clock is ticking for autoflowers.
* My schedule means I live at one place for 3 days (where the plants are) and 4 days at my girlfriend in the city. I have a friend helping me give nutrients (0.5l per plant per day with prepared nutrients: 10 liter with 3.3ml of JJ Grow, 3.3ml of JJ Micro, 3.3ml of JJ Bloom) I prepare when I'm away.
Unfortunate things, unfortunate things.
I went on a 9 day surfing trip and when I came back, my plant caretaker who'd water my plants told me the weather has been extremely shitty. Gray and rainy every. single. day.
The precious plants grew to a height of 10cm after the second week of veg (second week not documented due to absence) and then they stopped growing completely.
The babies did not get the energy they desperately needed. Growing autos, each bad day has an impact on the end product and the clock is ticking.
Knowing I had a loss of growth of a few weeks (and a few more weeks to come due to bad weather continuing) I made a tough decision..
I'll be starting over completely! As we speak I am germinating 2 Blue Cheese Automatic and 1 Northern Lights Automatic, they will be ready to go in the pots in two days as the tap root on each is starting to show. I will be placing one of the two remaining plants to my girlfriend's appartment and will donate the other to a friend.
I'll have to transfer them to soil because I need all the coco medium for the new batch of seeds.
For the new batch, I've bought 2 t5 6500K lamps so I can pregrow inside the first few weeks. This will stimulate the plants a lot and take care of the pesky weather conditions, as the weather will get better after a few weeks.
Sooo I might update this growdiary, I might not, but I'll be sure to start a new one for the new seeds.
Thank you all for the support, let's continue with a new chapter!
I've skipped a lot of weeks in this journal but there's a chance I'll be adding more information and photos of the weeks in between.
I also had to harvest about 10 days too early because the weather forecast gave 2 weeks of rain, which turned into a full month, so good decision on that part!
The Blue Cheese Auto was 59grams dried and cured
The Northern Lights Auto was 122grams.
It has a spicy sweetness to it, and seeing that this plant could go another two weeks, I'm amazed at the results with the bad grow environment I had them in
It took me 23 hours to meticulously trim every sugar leaf of off the buds (dry trim, also I really like just bud and no leaves)
I've been smoking these two for the past 4 months and will continue to do so for another 2 I think. Great success for my first coco experience!
