May 28: Excited to start some new varieties for the 2022 outdoor season! Started seed indoor May 8th under Fluence LED and transplanted outdoor to farm garden May 24th. Watered transplant and covered with plastic house to protect from wind and sun until seedlings are hardened off.
June 5: Cooler temperatures and no rain this week. Wind has been strong and a couple of nights near or at freezing temperatures. The greenhouses worked really well, but now to expose these seedlings to the full elements. Windy day today so expect them to get a bit beat up. Watered in with well water and covered the stem quite high with soil for more support against the wind.
June 11: First week exposed to the full elements. Plants took a beating from the wind but othwise look strong and healthy albeit a bit small. No rain this past week, but soil moisture at 10cm is decent. Preflowers are showing already.
June 17: The garden area had just under 3 inches (75mm) of rain in the past week which was really needed. Temps have been mid teens to low 20s deg C. The wind has been relentless and the plants continue to take a beating. Overall pleased with the growth but some concern, because preflowers are showing, they may be stunted and flowering early (due to environmental stress).
We had approx 4 inches (10 cm) of rain this past week which is a lot for this area. Soil has a lot of moisture but not too wet. Excellent growth in veg stretching a fair bit and starting to show signs of early flower development. Need some sun and heat.
July 3: Great week for new growth and plants are starting to send out first flowers. Big stretch on height. About another inch of rain (2.5 cm) this week and soil has plenty of moisture. Today saw some amazing clear sky and strong sun. Expecting the flowers to start stacking. Still need to mulch around the plants. CDLC has characteristic broad leaves and squat structure indicative of indica. First resin is funky and skunk.
July 11: Finally this week getting some heat with 25-30 deg C daytime highs. Plants are thriving with a lot of vertical growth and flowers starting to build. Resin is developing nicely. CDLC is getting thick and is going to be a big plant for an autoflower.
July 16: Great week of sun and warmer temperatures. No rain. Mosquitoes were f*cking fierce so had to take some quick photos and get the hell out - sorry if they are lower quality but getting eaten alive was not my idea of a good time. Overall pleased with growth and buds stacking nicely.
July 23: A great week of warm sunny weather with enough rain to prevent the garden from becoming too dry. Flowers are stacking... a bit leafy but dense. Smell is coming on strong and resin developing complexity of different fragrances. CDLC is becoming a monster plant intermingling with her nearest and huge neighbor, Mango Smile.
July 31: Another week of warm sunny weather coupled with thunderstorms bringing a decent amount of rain. Flowers are stacking and resin coming on thick developing complex odor. Harvest coming in a couple of weeks.
Aug 6: Harvest is about a week away I think. Some very minor aphid appearance on lower undersides of leaves suggest I can't wait too much linger to chop. Colors remain a healthy deep green. Resin is greasy and smells of fuel, a bit peppery woodsy and likely beta-caryophyllene dominant. This plant is a beast.
Aug 12: ideally would have left this go for another week or two but pest pressure (aphids) meant it couldn't wait. Chopped. This variety was fun to grow with dark green color throughout and little to fade right to the end. Leafy, so recommend defoliation for those who don't like trim jail. Wide plant structure, growing into a beast, much larger than most autos I've tried.
