A sleepy week for this young Orange Sherbet. She can't seem to pop out of that seed wrap, wondering if I should intervene. Tips are welcomed 🙏
Spent 36hrs in water, 36hrs in a paper towel, then 48hrs under the soil before popping her head up into the light.
The light schedule I'm following is 20/4 under two 100w LEDs running around 80% at 650mm above the babies. They're receiving 150-200umol's at roughly 11-14 DLI.
Organic medium and nutes so just watering in around 200mL of dechlorinated water at 6.6 pH per day. I figured I want to get this medium nice and moist for the microbes to thrive so I've been bottom watering 200mL extra every other day, with a gap day today as the pots are nice and weighty now.
Welcome baby OS 🍊
Another week down, and week 3 has begun. This girl was seriously stunted from leaving her cap on for too long. Lesson learned.
This week I've lowered the lights and turned up the intensity to 450umol and 35 DLI. (something ill probably do from the get go next time) I'm top watering when dry and still bottom watering every other day. I've raised the temperature and am lowering the humidity intermittently.
I am learning a lot, and already have ideas for the next run.
I'm in love with gardening already 😍
3 weeks down and this girl is finally (but slowly) coming into her own. I'm hoping now her fan leaves are getting a bit bigger she'll start to take off.
As for environment, today I've turned the ventilation fan on 24hrs with no breaks. I started getting paranoid that hour on hour off is not doing them any favors and I'm just gonna have to suck it up and bare the brunt of the power bill. This will also drastically reduce the RH, which I'm not totally sure of the effects it will have on the girls. Low RH has got to be better than RH too high, right? 🤷♂️
End of week 4 and this orange sherbet is finally pumping and has almost caught up to her sister (which I stunted this week 🤦♂️) I haven't defoliated or trained this girl, im going to leave her el natural for now.
On day 27 I added a big dose of compost tea and she loved it, she's now praying to the lights and I'm stoked she's stoked
Today on day 28 I repositioned the thermometer in the tent as it was too far from the plants, the girls were getting baked and not the good kind, they're all loving life now.
I hope you all had a good week and thanks a lot for checking in 🙏
Week 5 done and dusted and these girls have started their flowering stage, stoked!
This week has been a bit slow growing for them unfortunately, I've been super busy and haven't been tending to them as much as I would have liked.
I started the week with an over water and then neglected them for a few days and and they dried right out. They were not looking happy. I then top dressed the girls with Herbi's all natural nutrients, 2.5 tablespoons of bloom and 2.5 of Veg mixed in with 5 tablespoons of Worm castings for each girl and i got back to regular watering. They've sprung back up to life but I can't help but think it's another bit of stunt they didn't need.
Having said that, this girl has bounced back and caught up! I haven't used any training or defoliation on this orange sherbet girl and she is looking great!
I'm stoked with her recovery, and hopefully for her future.
Hope you've had a good week and thanks for checking in 🙏
Week 6 all done and the babies are flowering and smelling lovely!
Nothing new to report this week, I've just been watering in the top dress from last week.
I'm still leaving this Orange Sherbet girl all natural with no lst or defoliation to compare to the others and she's loving life, bouncing back from her seedling stunt to becoming the tallest girl in the tent. 😍
Hope you all had a good week and thanks for checking in 🙏
7 weeks later and she's flowering nicely, not too much verticle growth but the buds are getting bigger every day. Stoked!
Nothing new, might make another compost tea up this week.
I'm giving them 1L of water every 2nd day, 500mL top feed and 500mL bottom feed.
Until next week friends, thanks for checking in.
8 weeks later and these girls are getting smelly! They are also steadily packing on some weight and I'm getting excited!
This week the girls look to be in mid flowering stage and they were starting to show some kind of deficiency (maybe should've top dressed last week) well I top dressed last night and whipped up a compost tea for them too so we'll see how they react this week.
This Orange Sherbet girl finally got some defoliation and LST. The flowers are budding up and I could not risk a lack of air flow so she's all opened up and looking gooood.
The next run I'll be doing them all like this I think.
Getting very excited for a taste 😋
Hope you all had a good week and thanks for checking in ✌️
9 full weeks have past and I have made a critical error that all three girls are suffering from.
Last week I noticed some slight deficiencies so I tackled them with a potent compost tea. Turns out my tea ingredients were potentially driving up the ph in my soil (dolomite, etc)
The soil's ph got up to a whopping 8 and the girls stopped uptaking nutrients, I'm heartbroken but not giving up. I've been flushing them with water with a ph of 6.3, trying to return balance while they start to ripen.
The buds on all three griels are still quite green and lush, where the leaves are dying and going crispy 😢
Anyway it's illegal here so they're still going to be better nugs then I can get anywhere else.
Any future tips welcomed and thanks for checking in ✌️
10th week down and not the typical coloring you'd be expecting.
Still battling with the ph in the soil, it's slowly coming down but just not fast enough. I think I'll be extremely careful with what I put in my teas in the future.
The nugs still seem frosty and lush under the crispy leaves so I'm still excited for a taste and trying not to let my mistake turn me off gardening. It's all trial and error for me at this point.
I hope you guys had a good week and thanks for checking in
