Back to hydro!
The soil experiment was fun, but not my style.
These seeds popped very fast. 1 got a little leggy, but should be ok.
Don't mind the plant tags, there are only 2 strains there. the hella jelly used to be named jelly rancher and these were gifted to me by a friend.
Both the Hella Jelly's germinated, but I killed 1 transplanting it into the net cups. It wasn't quite popped up yet and I dropped a hydroton ball on it and cut the plant in half 😂.
I only wanted 1 of each anyways, so always extras cause I am heavy handed.
Moved to reservoirs today.
PH 5.8-6.0
EC .7 total. - Cal-mag, Silica and water .2 EC. Botanicare Grow nutrients .5 EC . SLF-100 and Hydroguard.
I don't want to dump a bunch of PH down in my reservoir right away, so I will bring the PH down over the next couple days.
Iraqi Banger -

Have a good week all!

🚀🚀
A couple things this week.
Shoutout to @Stunflower for pushing me to calibrate my EC meter after seeing his updates a little while back.
My TDS meter was off by a decent amount, so instead of starting the reservoirs off at an EC of .6-.7, they were closer to EC 1-1.1.
I added a little water, but left them at 510-530 PPMs (EC 1.05) to see what happens.
There are some signs of overfeed, but it is much easier to start my reservoir off with a nice base feed instead of trying to figure out the cal-mag + base nutrient ratio on the top offs, so I am probably going to keep this strategy on all my future plants as long as these look ok over the next couple weeks.
EC 1.05 - Base water + cal-mag + silica = EC .3. Grow nutrients = EC .7.
PH 5.8 - Started off the week at 6-6.2, but I got PH down finally and they have been around 5.7-5.9 for the last few days.
Great white was applied directly to the starter plugs and the hydroton. I will probably use Great White again next week once the roots get larger and I can apply it directly on the roots again.
I could probably push the temps a couple degrees higher, but they seem ok. I don't like to push the temps too high if I don't have foliage to cover the air pumps to help keep the reservoir temps low.
Catch you later!
🚀🚀
Good week.
Pretty happy I was able to save the hella jelly. As you can see in the picture from 6 days ago the roots weren't doing anything, she was stunted bad. I applied great white directly to the roots, sprayed with some hydroguard and the roots took off. She is still a little small and doesn't look the best, but now the roots are hitting the water she should grow well.
The Iraqi Bangers weren't perfect. I had some algae or something I am guessing from a light leak. I made some adjustments (added tape and t-shirts to cover the coolers), did a reservoir change and have been spraying the roots with hydroguard and SLF-100 over the last day or two.
EC 1.0
PH 5.7-5.9 (PH is showing 5.95, but I added a little PH up to the res (was 5.65), so it will settle to probably 5.85-5.9.
🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
Great week for the Iraqi Bangers, the Hella Jelly is still limping.
I did a reservoir change on the Hella Jelly yesterday and the roots are looking funky. I am going to give the Hella Jelly a couple more days and see if the reservoir change gives it a little boost.
The seeds were a gift from a friend, so I am trying to give it a lot of love and doing all I can to save it.
Seems just a bad seed that lacks vigor. Unfortunate, but it happens. Now I really wish I didn't kill the other 1. Damn you clay balls!!
The Iraqi Banger in the back is showing some weird stuff. At every node, there is a branch/arm that is shorter than the other and it alternates the side where the branch is shorter on every node.
They are getting large and look pretty happy, so Im going to let it go.
Topped the Iraq's today
EC 1.2 - Added liquid karma last night and today after topping (5ml total, 2.5ml each feed, so 1ml/gal total in res).
PH 5.7-5.9
Have a good week 🚀🚀
EC 1.2 - 600-620 PPMs = Water (50) + Silica (10) + Cal-mag (150) + Grow Nutrients (400-420)
PH 5.7-6.0
Added another light yesterday. A red spec light on it's lowest setting. I don't want them to get shocked going from the not intense blue spec light to the bright lights of the flower tent + my tent has been a little cooler than I like.
I culled the hella jelly, I don't remember if I mentioned that last week.
These will be ready for flower very soon. I like to give 7-10 days after a top. I should clean up the bottoms a bit because these plants will get out of control soon without some defoliation.
The smaller Iraqi still has a weird thing going where one branch looks smaller and weaker on each node alternating up the plant. Going to be interesting to see how the flowers look.
A little mistake in my previous weeks feed info (I will make the adjustment and annotate it for future reference.)
I got the actual blue lab EC pen cleaner and it did a better job than the hydrochloric acid cleaner I was using. With that, my notes on my EC were slightly off.
Looking back at some old grow notes, it seems I've been feeding my plants a little heavier than I thought throughout flower.
Sneak peak at some MAC1 clones I picked up. I never ran clones and these were in soil. I removed all the soil I could and threw them in some net cups. They had nice root masses.
Not sure if they will make it, but if they do I will make probably make a journal.
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by! 🚀🚀
Updating a day early again.
Last night I put the lights to 12/12, so today is day 1 of flower.
They recovered from the topping 2 weeks ago and they are taking off again. If I don't put them into flower now, I will have space issues unless I do a lot of plant training and that isn't what I like to do.
EC 1.2-1.25
PH 5.5-6.1. PH dropped once or twice on the left reservoir to 5.45 and 5.65. A little PH up 2 days in a row and now she is at 6.1. Res on the right with the liquid karma has had a stable PH the last few days (5.7-6.0). It looks a little overfed. Not sure if it is from the karma, the fact it spent a few days at EC 1.4 10 days ago or the feed is just a touch hot.
I turned up the lights in the tent because my temps have been a little low (72-75). I am trying to push the temps to 78-82. Now that I harvested my soil tent I can make the adjustments on the AC.
I will start a journal on the MAC1 clones I showed last week. They look good and the roots are hitting the water already.
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by! 🚀🚀
Overall, they are doing pretty pretty pretty good. (Larry David style)
I am trying to use less cal-mag this run because I have some N problems mid-late flower on other grows and now I might have/had a slight Mag deficiency.
The plants didn't look super happy for a few days plus some purpling of the stems. I added 1.25ml cal-mag (about 50-60 PPMs of cal-mag total or 10-12 PPM of cal-mag per gallon) to the reservoirs 2 days ago and today I added just under a Teaspoon (5ml) of Espom Salts. It is 9.8% Mag and 12.9% sulfur. Hopefully the epsom salts won't cause more issues, then again if so, a res change fixes almost anything.
EC 1.2-1.25 (PPMs 590-620). Today I increased the feed to 1.35-1.4. I really wanted the feed closer to 650, but I was a little heavy handed with the epsom salts and hard to get a perfect reading until it mixes into the solution. Plant on the right got 2ml/gal of karma and the left got 1ml/gal on the res change. Look at the roots you can tell which one got more karma. Funny thing is the plant with 2ml/gal of karma had less/no ph issues. Pretty much stayed at 5.8-6.0 all week.
PH 5.5-6. I had a couple drops to 5.45-5.5 on the left res, which could attribute to the possible Mag issue, but I don't want to have to feed at 6.2+. I want to have enough nutrients readily available at 5.5-6.0 and not have to play the PH game. So I added the epsom salts.
I may move these to the 4 x 4. They are filling up the 3 x 3 fast and the 4 x 4 will be easier to keep the humidity down so I don't have to run my dehumidifier as much.
* Added 2 pics of the MAC1 clones that I transferred from soil to hydro. 2 weeks old since transplant today. I was a little nervous, but 2 weeks later and the roots are exploding.
I did see a fungus gnat, so I am keeping these quarantined. They need a res change, more feed (EC .8 since the start), and some fans to start beating them up to strengthen the stems. I should top then flower in a week, but maybe I just flip them.....
*Added 2 days later: I think it was more P than Mag deficiency, but could have easily have been both. I added a bit more feed and P and they started to look healthier. I did a res change, increased cal-mag slightly (20-30 PPMs), and switched to full bloom feed.
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by! 🚀🚀
F9 - Res change - 12ml/gal bloom, 3.75ml/gal cal-mag (230-240 PPMs = cal-mag, silica, water), 1ml/gal karma, 1.5ml/gal silica, hydroguard, slf-100.
F10- Added 1ml/gal (5ml total) of hydroplex on F10 (0-10-6).
F14 - Large defoliation today. Added 2.5ml of liquid karma to each reservoir.
F15 - Added a pic to show how fast they recovered
EC 1.4-1.45 (PPM 700-730) - The smaller Iraqi looks a little overfed, maybe K.. EC is rising slightly. The left iraqi is stable at 700-730 PPMs.
PH 5.6-5.9 - A couple PH drops, so PH up in the morning. My life with botanicare. Trying to keep it up around 5.7-5.9.
It looks like the P, maybe magnesium, deficiency is much better. The red on the stems recovered, so most likely it was a Phosphorus issue. I normally don't add the bloom booster this early, but they needed it.
I took off a lot of healthy growth, but left a lot of fan leaves at the bottom in case they need it for the rest of the stretch.
This plant on the left could easily have been stretched out and filled out the whole 3 x 3. I took off probably 6-8 arms off each of the 10 tops I left. Crazy vigorous.
The roots on the right are looking a little funky. No smells, so maybe a build up of humic and kelp, a bio film from the bennies?. IDK but I will start hitting it with some slf-100 and hydroguard in the spray bottle a few times.
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by! 🚀🚀
Busy week. Stem rub is funnnnkey.
Culled her homie. The other plant was shorter and getting dwarfed by the big plant. Rather than struggle with 2 plants in the 3 x 3, I decided to let this one spread out.
Tied her down using the scrog net. Not a traditional scrog, but it helped train some of the tops as she was growing too tall.
Vigorous as hell. If I scrogged earlier she could easily have filled out a 3 x 3 with only 32 days of veg.
I turned my lights down a bit, down to about 200 watts.
Cleaned up her legs.
EC 1.5 - Res change yesterday (F20). I am using less cal-mag this week. Pretty steady at 750 PPMs.
It looks like I have slightly too much N (large fan leaves tips pointing down) so maybe less cal-mag, more hydroplex will be better. I'll find out in a few days if less cal-mag was a good idea haha.
PH 5.7-6.1 - Spent a couple days at 6, but a res change and now closer to my target of 5.5-5.8 (5.4-6.2 is my acceptable range).
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by! 🚀🚀
Update a day early this week. F27 today.
They have to stop stretching sometime, right? 12" a couple days before flip and now 46"+.
Buds starting to put on some frost so hopefully that's a sign the stretching will stop.
I already turned my lights down and they are at the max height.
Smells are really nice already. Funky chemmy/onion stink.
EC 1.5 - Res change F20 - EC shot up (1.6) for a day (the heat wave), so I brought it back down to 750 and has been pretty stable the last few days.
As I mentioned last week, I reduced the cal-mag from 3.75ml/gal to 3.25ml/gal cal-mag (a reduction of 25-40 PPM of cal-mag) and added more bloom feed. Still might be a little high on N, but I am not going to over think it as she looks great and seems happy enough. Also no liquid karma this week. I wanted to see if the kelp made a difference in pH and overall reservoir health. I will add it again next week to help bring out the stank.
PH 5.4 - 5.9 - A couple pH drops this week, to 5.2 and 5.4, but stable the last couple days (5.7-5.9).
*F28 - Added a pic of today and added another scrog net to tie down the tops. They were only 6" away from the light. Now I have about a 12-13" to work with. I am using a PPFD app to measure my light intensity, so hope they are done.
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by! 🚀🚀
A day early again this week so F34 today.
Res change F30
EC 1.5 (750 PPMs) - PPMs rose 2 days in a row. so I topped off with only water and the EC seems a bit more stable. I added some karma 1 day after the change and am seeing some tip burn, so I am going to try to bring the PPMs closer to 700.
PH 5.7-5.8 - 2 big drops (4.8-5.2) after the change and the last 3 days it has been stable at 5.7-5.8. The drops have to be something with how my water and how much pH down I am using. Work in progress haha.
I'm trying hard to keep this thing down. She is close as hell to the light, so I turned them down and used a PPFD app to try and find the best distance.
Other than that, I'm just trying to keep her cool. I had to turn a light off for a couple hours yesterday as it was 82+ in the tent. Turning the light off got it closer to 78.
Overall, a really beautiful plant and a pleasure to grow. The tops are still bendy enough to train. She is stinky, starting to frost up.
I'm thinking this 1 will need a full 11 weeks.
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by! 🚀🚀
F41 today.
I started to see some tips pointing down and a slight Cal deficiency, but I am not too concerned about the cal issue since it is only on the 1 leaf and it is the leaf a few inches form the light.
I did a reservoir change F38 to bring the N down and refresh the nutrients. I decided to use some left over Remo Astroflower since it is 1-5-11 and used it at 2ml/gal to replace 1ml/gal of the hydroplex and 1ml/gal of the bloom. I didn't want all that extra P from the hydroplex, 0-10-6, so the astroflower seems to have a better ratio for this stage. I may be overthinking it, but they look happy and and pretty healthy.
EC 1.3-1.4 - Lowered the EC to 1.3-1.4. Added liquid karma for kelp. Plan to keep this feed for the next 2-3 weeks. I am still planning on a F75-80 harvest.
pH - pH 5.7-6. - I had 1 drop after the res change to 5.4, but it was 5.8 yesterday and 6.0 today.
I probably should clean up some of the fan leaves to help improve airflow. My humidity is getting a touch high at night 62/63%, so looks like I have to hook up the dehumidifier soon.
Have a good week and thanks for stopping by! 🚀🚀
F48 today. Funky, stinky, and sticky.
Res change yesterday. Brought the EC down to 1.2-1.3 and reduced the N a little bit more (Less cal-mag).
I'm sticking with the astroflower from Remo for another week or two. The plant seemed to respond well and it helps bring the total N down and not overdue the P with the botanicare bloom booster (hydroplex (0-10-6)).
I might add epsom salts for mag and sulfur, but my water has sulfur in it, the astroflower has sulfur, and the hydroplex has some mag sulfate, so I probably won't add any. Just a ramble/thought.
I still think about 30 more days, so I'm still targeting a 75-80 day harvest.
🚀🚀
Cruising along. F55
I had a light interruption a couple days ago, so I will be on the lookout for nanners. Good thing about the t-shirts on my reservoir is I can see any pollen or sacs that pop. Nothing yet but I am ready with my spray bottle.
I had a power outage for 10 minutes, but it was close to lights off, so I shouldn't have any problems. Having their sleep interrupted seems to do more harm than extended dark periods.
A little light bleaching on 1 of the nugs closer to the Red spectrum light on the left, so I moved it a bit farther away from the light. Next time I grow this strain I will be extra aggressive in training.
Weeks 3-5 of flower she went wild.
EC 1.3-1.4 - Last res change was F47. I lowered the N and cal-mag and the EC to about 1.3. The EC was rising all week, but the tips don't seem too burned. I was still refreshing the macros slightly + some kelp and brought the EC back down to 1.3 every day. Today and for the rest of the week I will try to keep the EC closer to 1.2. About 10-14 days before harvest I like to bring the EC down to .8-1.0 and continue down from there.
PH 5.8-6.0 - PH very stable. I don't like it over 6 for more than a couple days.
Still targeting a harvest date F75-F80.
Have a great week! 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
F63 Today.
I've been thinking she would be done around 75-80 days, but most of the trichomes are cloudy and a little amber. I am now planning on harvesting F68-73.
This week I lowered the EC to 1.0 and will lower it to EC.7-.8 in a day or two.
Reduced the cal-mag to about 40-50 PPMs (EC .1) . I kept a little of the remo astroflower for the extra K with less N than my base feed.
The PPMs are slightly rising, but the tips don't seem burnt, so I will add mostly water for the rest of the grow. Maybe some base feed if the EC drops below .7-.8.
No full flush here. Flushing doesn't remove any nutrient content out of the buds, those nutrients are already there.
I like to reduce the feed so I don't overfeed since the plants don't use a lot of food the last 2 weeks.
The plants still need some food for arguably the most important time of the grow, last 2 weeks. It's when the plants bulk up, frost up, and get stinkier, so I never understand starving them at the end.
But to each their own. Done with my ramble, now a bowl 😁.
Have a great week! 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
F69 today. Harvest in 2 days (F71).
The plant should probably go at 73-78 days as the trichomes aren't completely cloudy, but this plant got out of hand. All the buds are laying on top of each other, so I am not going to push it and risk molds. My humidity has been about 58-62%.
EC .7 - Topped off the reservoir with basically only water over the last 2 weeks. She is still drinking a good amount about .5-.75 gallons a day.
PH 5.8-6.3 - I didn't want to add a lot of pH down this late, so I let it range a little higher.
Have a great week! 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
I started with 2 Iraqi plants for my summer grow. I wanted to keep it small and not do anything crazy because of the heat and my schedule. BUT this 1 Iraqi just wouldn't stop growing.
I didn't get a final measurement, but it went from 16" at flip to at least 50" at the end. I added 2 SCROG nets to try and train her, but she didn't care about those.
She filled out the whole 3 x 3 with a lot of defoliation and ended up getting too close the lights, so I had to turn them down. 1 bud got a little light bleached, but the rest is good. The buds aren't as dense as they probably could be, but I had to turn my light down.
It presses decently. I am getting a 20-22% (first press was 17%, next few were higher) return at 190F for 2 minutes. I also did some at 180F, but I like the 190F better.
Smells like an old hippy.
I am still new to pressing and only pressed the bags once, so other's may be able to get a better yield. I'm not big into dabbing, but I have an electric dabber I use every so often to get a little boost. .5 grams lasts me a couple weeks.
Grow Stats:
32 day veg + 7 of germination (39 days)
71 days of flower
150 grams
I could have flipped her sooner, but I was waiting for the smaller Iraqi to catch up. Then sometime early flower, I decided to just run the 1 Iraqi and spread her out. Once she got all the light in the tent she just didn't stop.
I harvested a little early because how close it was to the light and the heat was getting a little tough to deal with. F75-80 probably would have been a better harvest time, but I love the effects, so I'm not upset.
I am finding a seed here and there. I've been through about an ounce and only found a few. I did have 3 light interruptions all during lights on. I turned the tent off by mistake once for 20 minutes, and 2 power outages a couple hours before lights out, so I kept em out. Also my night/light period changed by 15 minutes at some point due to the power outages.
I plan to give another update after it cures for 2 months or so.
Edit a couple months later: I received a lot of great feedback from other smokers, they loved it. People said, hashy, old school, earthy, funky, feel good, happy as hell weed.
I'm getting some citrus notes in the jar now, which weren't really there earlier. Not orange, hard to place, but still rubbery and gassy when ground up.
So yea, all the training and stress I put on this plant, I wouldn't hesitate to run the strain again.
Thanks for following along! 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
