Germinating Cannabis Light, CBD Star, and Cheese NL in Pro Mix Organic Garden Mix soil under a cheap LED grow light. Will move outside into 3 gallon pots once sprouted.
CBD Star and Cheese NL are progressing nicely. Cannabis Light CBD did not germinate.
Grow light position 7-8 inches above the plants. Watered and added GHE nutrients
CBD Star was showing signs of overwatering but seems to be doing fine now.
Cheese is coming along nicely and smells funky already.
I was planning to grow outside but decided that growing outside in DC might be too difficult given the heat, humidity and bugs so I brought the plants in and am growing in buckets under CFL.
Both plants are coming along well so I decided to start doing some LST. I’ll be finishing the grow in 5 gallon buckets so I want them to stay as low as possible.
Update: not long after getting my buckets set up, the cheese started to get very funky. Going to have to move it back outside…
I had some guests staying at the house so I had to move them under the patio for a week. Probably stunted their growth but 🤷♂️🏼.
LSTing them into a spiral. Cheese has been easier since it’s much less bushy.
I’ve been LST into a spiral so I defoliated pretty heavily to get more light to the lower buds.
CBD Star is well on its way with many buds developing. I’ve been keeping it outside during the day and bringing it in to my new space bucket at night. I outfitted the bucket with an 8 inch fan, DIY carbon filter and a 250W Amazon Commercial PAR38 LED bulb. The filter is doing a great job removing the smell. Link for the bulb at the bottom.
Cheese is stretching like crazy with some pistils forming.

Was out of town all week and came back to find the CBD Star in my space bucket not looking good. It looks like a phosphorus deficiency but not entirely sure. Yellow leaves with brown/black spots and dark red/purple stems. I flushed it with 2 gallons 6.5 pH water, re-fertilized, put it out in the sun and defoliated. I defoliated pretty heavily since many of the fan leaves were yellowed and blocking light from the lower bud sites. The center was also getting pretty dense so I carefully removed some of the leaves to help with airflow.
Despite the stress, It seems to have bounced back reasonably well. There’s probably irreparable damage given the level of yellowing but the buds continue to grow and thicken.
Cheese has absolutely exploded and looks great. It probably doubled in height last week with many bud sites on the 5 main stalks. Excited to see how it turns out.
CBD Star bud seem to be thickening up despite obvious signs of deficiencies, likely due to a pH induced nutrient lock out. Phosphorus, nitrogen, calcium, manganese, molybdenum? It’s basically the periodic table of deficiencies. Main cola started to turn purple due to molybdenum deficiency?
Found a spider mite on Cheese… sprayed the leaves down with a 1:10 alcohol:water solution which seems to have taken care of the mites.
Definitely stunted this plant… but it turned out ok for a first grow. Extremely stone-y and not highly psychoactive. Nice for a chill sess. Extremely lemony
