These two are doing better and their colour has improved quite a bit, we have stuck to our same schedule for feeding and the bed is watered twice daily to maintain a good moisture level. The cover crop has been cut and tossed back in a few times and we are doing a better job at keeping on top of it this year. Coffee grounds have been added to the bed which is obviously helping and Epsom salts have been added to the water twice so far. The other net was not put up as intended and the underneath branches have all been removed which has helped to increase the growth up top. We will have to do something about the powdery mildew that is starting, this plant was susceptible to it inside but up until now they have been clear outside. We do have another culprit in the yard that will soon be chopped down, hopefully we can get it cleaned up fast because this is a delicious strain.
Another thing I think helps. If there are any weeds near your plants. Try to get rid of them. I try not to have anything else growing near my plants..except for maybe a beneficial plant
@Pjm70, Thank you for your advice, we would have loved to have a preying mantis around but the birds would scoop it up, nature sure is bringing in all kinds of new species and it is hard to name them all. It is difficult to keep the area clear as we are using a cover crop to help maintain moisture, also feed the bed but we do have the beneficial bugs and they are working hard. We did not buy any lady bugs but they are here and we are happy to see them, it’s the time of year for nature to fight nature. Let us hope the good guys/girls win! 👊💚✌️
Not sure what bugs you are dealing with. As a preventative I unleashed ladybugs. Built a little hut for the with some water. I only let loose about 20 on my 1 photo. Most of them are still there. Maybe worth a try, they are pretty cheap. Build something for them and let loose a bag of 1500. You won't have bugs for too long, other than your lady bugs. First I found 1 in my house. So I put it on the plant. She was there for a week by herself. So I ordered more. Nice plants by the way. I'm on the east coast also. They are getting ready for flowers, but none yet.
