I did not think I would construct a diary for this grow. The first month was terrible! I was gone a lot, and unfortunately bought cardboard pots with shit seedling soil. The plants were completely dry every 24 hours due to the pots and the soil had almost no nutrients. Really rough start, but I have been giving them a lot of love for the past two weeks and they have started to find their groove. I also have a Blue Dream in there, but it won't flower with this round. I want to veg it for a long time so that she gets HUGE.
Right now the Zkittles is growing the fastest, but stabilization both the Pineapple Express plants have rapidly caught up. The JAB seems to just be stalled. It grew out three tops very quickly once stabilized but has not put on much new growth since then. I think the temp might be a little low right now, but its June Gloom here in San Diego and I don't want to pay the outrageous SDG&E electric prices for my mini heater right now, so we are just going for it.
Tonight I did a very light trim of the lowest foliage. Typically I would be a lot more aggressive with trimming, but they went through so much for the first few weeks that I am trying to leave them alone as much as possible. At this point they have found their groove. They have grown a few inches in just 3 days and are filling out nicely. I also believe that the colder temp in the house is contributing to a slower growth pattern. ITs June Gloom here and the temp in the tent in staying between 65 and 75 degrees, slightly lower than I would like. All in all I am very happy right now with how they are progressing all things considered.
The end of week one of flower. They are starting to stretch, grew about 3 inches this week. This grow I am trying to let them stretch a little more before I implement the SCROG net in hopes of getting some bigger plants this time. They are in larger pots than I would normally use so I hope the extra length will allow for more bud points and a larger yield. Hopefully it doesn't get away from me because the tent is not that tall.
End of week two and everything is looking good so far. They are drinking like crazy right now, already have to water every 3 days. This week I will do my final defoliation and lollipop. Some of the fan leaves on the Pineapple Express are HUGE and they need to go. I also need to get some kind of plant stand for the JAB. It turned out to be such a little plant that it is getting shadowed by all the big gals in the tent.
Bud production is well underway now. I am very pleased with the progress so far. The little JAB is pushing out a lot of bud points which gives me some hope. Added full strength bud explosion and 1/8 strength Overdrive starting this week. Everything seems to be going well except this week the humidity has been very high here so the tent is up above 60%, working on it.
This is the end of week 4 and they're chugging along. I really did a poor job of lollipopping these plants and I am paying for it now. The humidity here has bee very out of character for this time of year, up to 85% in the morning. The tent is hovering around 60% with the lights on. Having to run the dehumidifier much more than I would like with the lights off, but it goes sometimes. The plants look really great right now though. Hopefully this humidity drops a little and it gets a little warmer so I don't have to run this thing so much
These girls are really starting to go nuts! We have come to the end of week 5 and they are already starting to pack on the bulk. I had a little issue with nute burn earlier in the week. I think it was because I was allowing them to dry out to much. I backed it down from 975 PPM to 700 PPM for 4 days and now I am back up to 800 again and they seem to be happy. I also think that my light is just a few inches to close. Its at about 16 right now and the leaves at the top are just not looking their best. It's a 340W light so backing it up a few inches shouldn't be to big of a deal. I moved it back to 20 inches from the canopy. Hoping this helps a little. The humidity here has been absolutely WILD! Tent fluctuates between 55% and 65% and I can't make it budge without the dehumidifier which raises the temp way to high. Outside the humidity hasn't dipped below 70% in over a week. Very strange, hoping that I can keep the room clean and keep enough air moving through the tent to avoid bud rot. FINGERS CROSSED
This week has been going well. I hit a small case of nute lockout early in the week. After some investigating of my system I realized I had two problems. First the plants were getting too much nitrogen, leaves were very dark green. Then I was allowing my nutes to bubble overnight and this was lowering the pH. I believe this is what caused the lockout. Problem is fixed now and they never stopped fattening up. We are in the home stretch now with about 2 weeks left. STOKED!!!
We are SO CLOSE! The trichomes are almost 100% milky, a few amber here and there. These plants finished really early. It makes sense being that they were clones grown under a strong LED light, but I was prepared to let them go 60+ and its looking like I will cut them at about 55. Started my flush on Tuesday of this week and will keep flushing until I get a good fade. 4-6 more days or so should be plenty of time for them to fatten up more. Very excited! If it works out this could end up being my largest grow ever. Will post some update photos on Saturday that show the Trichomes because that will determine if I chop Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.
Thats is a wrap on round 1!!! I am so stoked about this grow. Yesterday it took me a full 7 hours to assemble the dry box, take down the scrog, wet trim, hang to dry, clean the tents out and set up the next round. WHAT A DAY! I feel like this is going to be my largest grow to date. I didn't take a wet weight because I had to much to do. Going to let them dry for 5 to 7 days. Will update again this coming weekend with am total dry weight. Stay tuned!
10/10 for this strain. To be honest, I wish I had just done 4 of these. The nugs were incredible, VERY easy to grow, and very tolerant of some crappy conditions caused by poor weather a few weeks. Stretch was pretty gnarly on her, but easy to control with scrog
Overall yield from these two plants was around 7 ounces. Probably could have gotten much more if I let them go for 60 or 65 days but I needed the tent for the next round. I have one in this next round as well and plan to let it go for 70.
Wouldn't grow this strain again. It grew really short, yielded almost nothing, and to be honest, I should have trashed it and just made more room for the other three plants to spread out. I will say it was easy to grow though.
I will give this strain a 7/10 just because it underperformed and it gave me the most headache in veg. It was a very picky plant, constantly needing attention. During flower, although the nugs became large, they never really became dense. Anything under the primary cola was extremely fluffy. I will say in defense of this plant, I think if I had let it go another week, it would have yielded better.
