😎
It has begun....
Didn't take a picture. Wasn't a member of GrowDiaries at the time.
Alpha is really going strong, but Beta is not really developing.
Week 3 is when I joined and have started regular pictures.
I'm a little surprised by the width of the leaves on Alpha, very wide and fat looking suckers :-) beautiful color, nice canopy.
Beta is picking up speed and returning to a normal growth pattern.
Every morning, both show more and more new growth and you can see they're about to grow upwards.
Alpha is 29cm & Beta is 22cm. BIG O'l Phat leaves! 😎 Deep emerald green color. Thick stalks. Beta's canopy is well passed the brim, and it's growth pattern has fully normalized. Both are cruising along quite nicely.
I'm betting Alpha will start flowering within the next ten days or so.
Alpha is 45cm
Beta got topped - 37cm to leaf tip (larger leaves turn upward) (she's cheating)
26.5cm to the cut I made - the new tops are 5.5cm - 49cm to the light
Alpha started to flower yesterday, notice the new hair in the pics 😝 She grew a lot this week.
Beta has not given any sign of flowering soon, so I went ahead and topped her. I bent her lower nodes outward. By the end of the week, the first node below the topping, shot upward. Now, the two new shoots from the topping are 5.5cm long and about even with the next lower node. Tried to cover that in the pictures.
I'm expecting a lot of growth out of both of them in the coming week.
Alpha is 69cm (natural)
Beta is 48cm (topped & cropped)
Alpha is still showing nice vertical growth, and her flowers are developing at a good pace.
Beta's growth has been amazing to watch. After being topped and super cropped, she is getting really thick. I didn't get as good of a bend on the upper branches, she didn't knuckle and is growing thru it. Beta started flowering this week, so I stopped messing with her branches.
Overall, both are growing strong 😛
Alpha's flowering is making normal progress, but the plant is showing signs of stress. I believe I have over watered her a tad and so I have backed off a bit to see if that makes a difference in her appearance. The stress is patches of discoloration throughout the plant, not just the lower nodes. Some light green, some are yellow-ish, and it appears to me, that her overall color is lighter green as well.
Beta on the other hand, she has had a stupendous week. Her color has changed too, but to a deeper, darker emerald green. Her fan leaves have become broader and longer. Branches upon branches. Her canopy has just ballooned. Stunning actually.
Alpha is 93cm - natural grow
Beta is 88 cm - topped and super cropped
Alpha's flowering is progressing apace, but she is still showing signs of a problem. A patchy discoloration, turning yellow, at the pointed ends of the fan leaves. At first I thought it was over watering, but I've backed off for over a week now, and the signs are still spreading. I'll really get into diagnosing the problem over this weekend.
Beta's growth remains phenominal. A nice deep dark emerald green color. Branches upon branches all with flowers everywhere. She's getting real beasty. She was already behind schedule compared to Alpha, even more so after being topped and cropped. She has least another 5 maybe even 6 weeks to go...65
Alpha is starting to clear up. I've dropped the advanced nutrients and flushed her out a couple of times. Currently just waiting for her to need something before I do anything else. Her flowers are gaining in size, but overall she's starting to look tiny beside Beta.
Beta is still getting taller. She stands at 90cm this week. Her flowers are starting to show good growth. Beta is in a taller pot, the same circumference as everybody else. Just about 10cm taller and more room for her roots. I did give her a little haircut by cleaning up the tiny stuff on the bottom. Overall, I'm guessing she has about 4 times the yield of Alpha.
By the growing calendar, both should be done in 8 days. I don't see that happening. Alpha is basically untouched, I lolli-popped her and that's the only growing technique that has been applied to her. Beta had a slow start, slow development, and if I recall correctly. I estimated her to be about two weeks behind Alpha. By their appearance alone, I think I'll be lucky to be done in the first week of October.
Alpha has shaped up, but lacking any real density. By the calendar, today is the due date, but I'm going to leave her in the oven a little longer and see if that will add some weight.
Beta continues to be the real story.
I've slightly bent her branches outward and tied them down. Now she kind of looks like a cannabis tri-wizards cup :-)
She still has a few weeks to go, but I'm thinking the yield might be a little higher than Alpha's.
From looking at the side by side photo, you wouldn't think those two plants were geminated at the same time.
Alpha, was sort of a disappointment. I'll take the blame, but her nugs were very thin. She grew natural, no techniques, so I really wasn't expecting a whole lot. Her dry weight end up being 28g. Nice citrus aroma in the jar, but the test doobie, when the nug was busted up the aroma got distinctly sharper and more of chem taste to it. Not unappealing, just different. She's in the jar now, curing.
Beta continues to do well. She was geminated same time, and her development was about two weeks behind Alpha's, but Beta is still about ten days away from being close. I intend on feeding her for another week, then put her on water only.
Beta's flower are bigger and more dense, same shape and grow patterns as Alpha's. Obviously healthier flowers. I'm guessing 4x what Alpha did, easily.
Not much to report this week.
At this point, I'm just letting the plant lead the way.
We are 3 weeks past the grow calendar, and by her appearance. She still has some time to go and grow.
Some trichomes are starting to turn cloudy....but just some. About 10% of the hair is starting to dry and turn red. The flowers are still showing a lot of new growth.
I've extended the advanced nutrients for the late stages, but next week she is back to water only.
I tied knots into the string pulling down the branches. This pulled the branches a little further downward. Thus, opening up the center of the plant to receive more light.
Oh yeah, her scent is super strong.
