The prior seedling didn’t make it, found it bent over and it didn’t recover. I assume to dampening off disease and/or environmental conditions. This little lady is not holding back though. She’s popped out to greet the world!
With this popped straight into the dirt, I won’t have to worry about hardening it off… but seedlings outdoors are very fragile. I will have to watch closely for tiny caterpillars, bending, wind/rain… you get the picture lol.
I have had to support this seedling a lot, it had even fallen out of the little support loop one day (you can kinda see this in the first couple pictures).
She’s hanging in there though! We have had a pretty good week, but there is supposed to be quite a few scattered storms over the coming week. May need to mover her to cover or use the humidity dome to protect her.
I don’t think we’ll see any more falling over from this little lady. She’s coming out of that fragile seedling stage and ready to show us what she’s made of. She’s too big for the dome at night now too. Still gotta keep a close eye on her for caterpillars and other pests.
We made it through that seedling stage and here is where the fun begins! Stay tuned…
I added some barley straw as mulch to help with water retention. She’s starting to fill out and we saw some good growth this week! Early in the week she got some silica for strength, at the end of the week we bolstered those microbes with some recharge and king crab.
Seeing those pistols, and the vigor that comes when an auto hits flower!
Other than the environmental issues at the start, this has been a very easy grow. The girls are loving the sunny weather!
Even being a bit behind, this lady has crept a little taller than the orange sherbet! Buds are developing nicely! Making sure to keep her watered and happy. Used some LST clips to space the branches out a bit and keep good air flow.
She’s doing really well! We did see some damage to a few fan leaves that I thought could be caterpillars…but a thorough inspection turned up nothing. Will continue to monitor closely… but zero caterpillars so far *knock on wood* while the plant next to her has had a lot. This week we continue with build a flower, and kelp it real in her water. Doubt we’ll see much vertical growth as she’s bulking up the buds.
Even with a tough start in germination this strain didnt have any issues growing. While others were bombarded by caterpillars she avoided the issue all together. I am very interested to see what this one does inside the tent. Check out and follow my other grow to see!
