This week growth practically ceased upwards and seems to have been putting all its energy into swelling bud and trichome production so in response I have lollipopped her rather hard! Hope I will benefit from that later. There is a distinct smell of Green Apples in the air with a little spice so she seems well on track. The next 10-14 days should be fun.
OOH WEEEE Apple Betty!! Am enjoying the slightly spicy and crisp green apple scented nugs! The trichome coverage at this stage is pretty awesome! I predict the shade leaves will begin to fade over the next week not through nute burn or over watering or under watering but by naturally using up all available food (feeding now would cause all sorts of problems) and will be using very little Nitrogen during the next 10-14days as it focuses solely on flower development this should be reflected in next weeks diary entry. Very much looking forward to seeing what it does outdoors. Stay tuned for the upcoming outdoor diary.
Finally upgraded to full AC infinity Cloudlab 894 kitted out with all the mod cons...the climate controls are epic. Even after just two days in here I can see a real difference.
Day 51 and she has blushed a beautiful pink which I wasn't expecting from an apple strain so thats a bonus. Harvest is on track for Day 55. I do NOT want to overcook her...right now the trichomes are mostly milky with a few clear and a few amber...the amber will increase just a little over the next few days. I want a rather upbeat high from her so I will not be pushing her another 10 days. Next update is HARVEST!
My thoughts are
- "I've botched the yield!" quickly followed by
-"what went wrong?".
*It has been excruciatingly cold right when it really needed to be warm, that was shown when she went pink up the stalk and on the calyx's and leaves..too cold? Probably.
*I think it could have handled a little more bloom booster mix early on..top dressing twice almost always ends in foxtailing so its a tricky game to get the right amount first off without causing too much burn in the beginning which can also stunt a plant.
My Harvest Conclusion sadly is - STUNTED! Its warmed up a bit not so please follow my outdoor Apple Betty grow and upcoming indoor Apple Betty grow, this time with better temperatures and access to more nutes...lets see if we can get it to perform better. I remain positive because I love the smoke it truly is a dessert strain..subtle but stunning..its hard to describe..I recommend you try Apple Betty for yourself and see if you can get a better yield than I did. Sticky Buds Everyone!
I will try again in a few days with a new clone diary and see how she does now its spring and the temperature is steadily increasing into a more friendly zone.
There is also my outdoor grow that ill be studying. Most often nature provides what a grow room does not and can offer suggestions on how to improve your indoor grow results. We shall see how it unfolds in the months ahead. Meantime I haven't written Apple Betty off and look forward to learning more about it.
