So far, so good! No change in average height this week, but for my previous grow there wasn't any change in height either from weeks 5 to 6. The difference with this grow though is they are an average of 10" tall whereas my previous grow they were 5" tall. The differences: 1) This time using FFOF/FFHF blend of soil instead of only FFOF, 2) I've given these no nutes, 3) I haven't tried LST'ing these (and probably won't), 4) the outside temperature hasn't risen above 90-95F, and 5) I put these in a mini-greenhouse with a fan so that they get constant wind and are sheltered from rain. Stems are still relatively weak though. Went out to water one morning that the Auto White Widow was leaning all the way over, so I stuck a stick in the pot and tied a "loop" around the stem to give it some light support so that it wouldn't be falling over. Hopefully it'll strengthen. Still giving all of these Silica Blast every morning during watering at a concentration of about 1/2 to 1 tsp per gallon.

Grow Questions

Noticed dozens of these little white bugs and clear eggs underneath the fan leaves of my white widow, which is flowering and almost ready to harvest. What are they, and how should I get rid of them without damaging buds? I have neem oil, insecticidal soap, B.t., and spinosad.

That is white fly 100%, they infest shit and are a pest, you will want to blast as many of them off with just some soapy water and a vacuum. No point in treating the plant with pesticides this close to harvest but you will want to look into bud washing to help clean em all up once its chopped. They don't tend to go into the buds and stick to the bigger leaves but they can get stuck in bud if they are flying aorund doing dumb shit like they do. You can also pick off the affected leaves that are heavily infected and burn them or toss em outside, if its close to harvest the plant will be starting to fade anyways. Best Of Luck!

For two of my plants, the edges of the top colas' sugar leaves have gained some brown color. It showed up shortly after I introduced the grow light on full intensity which leads me to believe it MAY be light burn. I'm also paranoid about bud rot though. See photos. Your thoughts?

The best way to tell if this is just natural coloring (which, in truth, would be odd but probably not unheard of) is to see if you can easily pull one of those leaves off... if it comes off with no effort at all, it's mostly likely bud rot. I'm not convinced it is, though.... usually bud rot will show up as completely dead sugar leaves and these just have an odd coloring to them... so yes, it MAY be the lights! Good luck!

What are these black spots? I recently released some ladybugs in my grow room and saw them crawling on the plant this week, so is this possibly from them or from something else?

The spots look like some sort of pest on first glance. They could be mites or aphids as I know ladybirds like to feast on them. It would be best to start a IPM or integrated pest management system into your grows if you want to continue growing long term. This can be putting stuff in the water to kills things in the medium to spraying the plants in veg so they have some extra defence to the critters that want to eat them. If we had more focused shots of the spots we could help identify it better, My guess is still mites and I do see some white flys on them as well. They are little pieces of shit, but much easier to kill then the mites. Given you are in flower the treatment options are limited but not zero. soap and water then washing the plant in the shower/outside is an option to get rid of most of them. Then at harvest doing a bud washing will help get rid of the letovers. Calcium deficiencies are visible from the top of the leaves not the bottom, pests hide on the bottom to avoid predators. Brown fuzzy area showed up on my gorilla glue plant. See photo. Looks kind of like brown sugar. Recently had to chop down another plant in the same grow room that definitely had but rot, so I'm thinking I should chop this just to be safe. Your thoughts?

O that sucks, this is bud rot 100% caused by Botrytis Cinerea https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botrytis_cinerea There is no cure or quick fix, you need to remove the affected buds asap and spray it down with peroxide to help deactivate the spores should be start to fly aorund. It would also be best to increase the ventilation in your tent and lower the humidity to under 40% to help deter this pesky mold from finding a sweet spot and growing. If you have any UV lights they can help kill off the spores as well. I don't see a tent being used to grow these or a fan pushing air aorund them so this might be why it took root in your plant. a little preventive maintenance can go a long way but sometimes it just fucks us over. Buds affected with rot can not be smoke or used in any way they are now garbage. Oh buddy... if almost all the trichomes on your White Widow are amber, you've gone WAY past the harvest time! The THC is degrading if not degraded completely... you just don't want to wait until the lower buds have amber in them!! Harvest that lady now and cross your fingers... Trichs will continue to mature after harvest so what most folks aim for is seeing about 10-20% of the trichs on top turning amber and then they chop... this will give you both a head high and a good body stone... if you let your grow go longer than that, you're in couchlock territory... MUCH further than that and the THC won't be worth anything... Do chop it... TODAY!

@GrowingGrannie, to clarify, it is the PISTOLS (the hairs) that are turning amber, not the trichomes. The trichomes are mostly still all either clear or milky white.
