Hey everyone, damn how exciting!!! NZ grow season kicks off with a bang this year for me. Over the last year I have gotten my veg room into really good production mode save some ventilation issues when the clones get bigger and take up too much room...I tell you the checks and balances are nuts am I right gurus? So heres my first problem this outdoor grow...YES it is September and unofficially spring here...it is always better to put your clones out after the vernal equinox so as not to trigger premature flowering..this time of year is perfect for seedlings...however im focusing on my seeds in another way this year so will be putting only clones in the garden this year for my sun grown medpot. So effectively its too damn cold to be doing this with clones and there isn't enough true daylight ..but as you can tell from some of the leaves of this clone I've struggled to balance nutrients, growth, space, watering etc etc etc..so I've called it. I topped it last week knowing full well what I would have to do this week..planting out to regain control of my veg room which has been an absolute jungle in preparation for the outdoor season. I dont grow a lot (only for my own medicinal use..strictly) so my indoor space is limited however at this time of year the veg room is bustling with new life bursting to get out into the daylight and prove themselves to be monsters for daddy! My major concern right now is not losing it to cold, but possible spring hail damage and that it may just revert to flower too early..dramatically shortening my plants life...or at the least slowing it down while it readjusts its systemic hormone balance. Anyway..here we go. I hope you enjoy this grow...she already stinks to high heaven which is a concern.Day 4, After an extreme cold (7Degree C) night and two days of rain and wind today truly feels like spring...She is definitely picking up today in response....whew I think that might be the last of the real cold.
Was a brutal week of cold wind and rain with just enough hot sunny patches to keep her going. She presents tough...but we have a big tough season ahead fraught with many dangers so its good she has had this experience it will see here in good stead for the months to come.
So Apple Betty seems to have dug deep, hunkered down and now begun to really start to throw new foliage, meaning it has adapted very well in the last fortnight and is ready for the warmer months to come with a healthy immunity and strong bushy structure this should be a great grow.
She has achieved a level of contentedness in this spot from here on in its all about keeping the nutrients and water at optimal levels...often a struggle when outdoors..so far so very good with this Apple Betty!
@Ancient_Genetics, We had another single digit temperature night last night (7 degrees Celsius) but it is just sooo sunny this morning I think she will be ok...surely the cold weather will slip by soon...its very stressful!
@Herbies_Seeds, Aww thanks Herbies. Hope I do the strain justice out here in the wild south. Last night ambient outdoor temperature was 6.5 degrees Celsius...im too scared to look this morning..hopefully everything with be ok..just a little shock...everything gets warmer from here and the Vernal equinox is only three weeks away..fingers crossed it gets a good start!
@Jays_Not_Here_Man, I have to agree with you..even though its been cold the Vernal Equinox has passed so its go time for us here..and for this little beauty!
I think this one will be very bushy, very nicely branched, for its age and size, and I am really interested in its further development, which I will follow, Good luck with your grows.👍
