This week has been a good week. All plants have been growing rapidly and all new growth looks great. No more wilting issues and other than some brown spots that looked like calcium deficiancies on 2 of the first leaves on one of the plants everything looks great. I have started using a stronger nutrient solution and so far they seem to be responding well.
OG Kush AF #1 - Before reading afterwards that most people dont recommend topping autoflowers I went ahead and topped this one. It still appears to be in its veg state and was further along than OG#2 so it doesnt appear like it will negatively affect this plant. Its 2 new stalks are already working on their third set of new leaves. Dont plan on doing anymore significant training on this plant.
OG Kush AF #2 - No leaves after its first set appears to show any more signs of wilting or any other serious problems. Other than pruning some of those leaves off I have done very little to this plant. It has stretched very little and is very bushy and dense so far.
Misty Kush #1 - This week I have started working on the manifold training and have topped the plant twice. I am using soft plant ties to pull the first 2 new stalks from the first topping as horizontally as I can without worrying about breaking them. A couple of days later it was showing excellent growth so I topped it a second time. The new growth has not grown long enough to start positioning.
Misty Kush #2 - I also started manifold training on this plant but topped it the first time 2 days after Misty #1. It has recovered quickly and should be ready top a second time tomorrow or the next day. Interesting note, when I topped this plant I noticed shortly after water droplets forming at the cuts and "bleeding" due to the waters red color from the nutrients. As someone unfamiliar with gardening in general I thought this was really cool looking.
Update for OG #1: Checked this morning and it grew up at least a couple inches over the night. Easily the most Ive seen in one evening. I am assuming it finally kicked into flower.
Looking better In week 2 with the supports. that seedling stretch in week one though dam. Was the light too far off ? Or maybe too hot ? I swear by t-5’s no heat and you can put it an inch away for first 2 weeks.
@Blackadder, Right now im seeing low 90s in the tent during the day and mid to low 80s at night. They all seem to be growing fairly quickly now, they are noticeably bigger now than when I went to work this morning. Ive moved them into the RDWC buckets.
@RogueLycan,
I’d agree with that, looked like they were reaching for more light. The dome may have reflected the light too combined with the distance/watts.
I’m not so sure on heat my current seedlings grew in 83f to 90f but with good lighting right from the get go. They grew slightly slower but height wise pretty short. I just use cling film over pot until they sprout then get um straight under good light. I think too much heat stops growth as the stomata close and you notice water droplets on leaf surface as there trying too cool down rather then stretch. I’d recom next time for go the dome, Ambient humidity usually ok and get some low watt cfl/t5 nice and close. I’ve been starting mine in 5 gal pots lately :O
What sort of temps you facing ? Anything under 90f isn’t too bad just not optimal
@Blackadder, Hard to say since I was using all new equipment and havent tried to grow since back in my younger days in a closet with no knowledge lol. If I had to guess Id say I left them under the humidity dome too long with bad light placement (just sat a small LED on top of the dome). Can too much heat cause that stretch? Thats actually one of the issues im having with my grow room at the moment, although I plan on fixing that with a dedicated ac unit till fall hits.
The LED I was using was from the small propagator I got from Nirvana so not sure how good it is.
@Tonino, Checked on OG Kush#1 this morning and it really stretched out a lot last night. Didnt have time to grab a picture but it looks like it jumped up at least a couple inches.
