Planted 10 seeds and will pick the best 8-9 of them to grow out completely. I'm Excited to do this grow as its the first time I'm growing Purple Frost Giant. This is the F2 (gen 2) batch so it should have the most range of characteristics. I may end up taking clones of them to create a mother.
So far 6 of the seeds have popped. I'm hoping the remaining ones will pop this week but looks like its not going to happen. The 6 that did pop are looking good and are developing roots. Still haven't needed to water them yet I think I over watered them when germinating them which may account for the low percentage as I'm usually closer to 90% germination rate for previous grows.
Ended up tossing the weak one off the cliff leaving 5 remaining. The remaining ones are growing well and stacking tightly. I will probably transplant them this week. It looks like another seed is sprouting late.
Transplanted them into 1 gallon pots this week. I used Great White on the cubes and hole where I was burying the cubes. I also watered them into their new pot.
They continue to get larger and start create nodes. Two of them have a weird structure I'm curious to see how they continue to grow. Topped the two largest ones (#3 and #5). It also looks like two topped themselves (#1 and #4).
They continue to grow larger. Two of them were topped recently and I will likely be topping the remaining one this week. Two of them (#1 and #4) seemed to have topped themselves. I have seen that before but previously it was with clones.
The Purple Frost Giant continue to grow well. PFG #2 and PFG #5 have recovered enough from the previous topping that I could start doing some LST to flatten out the canopy as it grows. Finally topped PFG #2 and am just waiting for PFG #4 to get taller to top it as well.
Topped PFG #3,4,5 and added some Diatomaceous Earth to the top of the soil as I noticed some little nats flying around. Continued to adjust the ties to widen out the plants.
Continuing to Top and LST the plants to keep them low and wide. I'm continuing to veg them as I want them to fill out more of the tent before I flip to flower. I also plan on taking clones.
Continued to train PFG #3 and its going to be a monster when I finally flip the tent to flower. I did another round of LST to all of the plants and they are looking great! nice and even canopy.
Week 10 of Veg. They all continue to grow well I keep adjusting the ties as necessary to keep it nice and flat. Once they take up a little over 50% of the floor space I will be flipping to flower.
Continuing to adjust the ties as needed. They are looking great lots of tops which is great to see. I'm taking clones this week and it will probably be the last week of veg.
Finally time to flip them to flower. You can see the plants are low and wide and taking up about 50% of the floor space. I'm looking forward to seeing how they stretch.
So far they are not stretching too much but its now week 2 of flower so I expect it to accelerate. So far nice tight stacking but I'm curious to see how much they end up stretching.
The Purple frost giant are finishing up stretching. I turned up the light to 75% and hopefully that will help keep the nodes from getting too spaced out. Over all all 5 plants are looking great!
The fade is starting and the buds continue to fatten up and get frosty! Not using a scrog net has made watering much easier so it was worth the time I spent earlier on doing LST.
They are just getting PH water at this point and are continuing to fade. They are looking nice and frosty. At this point just waiting for the trichomes to be ready. I ended up losing power for 36 hours so they were in darkness for two days to minimize stress. The room also flooded so was on the look out for mold/mildew as the humidity got around 90% at one point.
They continue to fade and fatten up. I ended up having to add some ties to hold up some branches as they were getting too heavy. They continue to just get PHed water as we wait for them to finish!
Continued to water with just PHed water and ended up lowering the light. The fade is looking amazing and I can't wait till its cured so I can try it. This is the last week before they are chopped.
Sad to finally chop them down as they faded so beautifully but now they get to dry. The branches were quite heavy and a few fell over as I was chopping so it should be a good yield. Once its done drying I will weight it up.
