This is a test of 3 ww max plants. 1 was fim, 1 was LST, and one was left alone. Fim is about 6.5 ft, lst is about 6.5 ft, the big girl is 9.5 ft. Big one is about 1-2 weeks behind in flower development. Training happened around week 5 or 6. First week of flower was week 14 or 15. Impressed with stability of genetics but the big one was always a bit taller. This is my first journal and just want a place to record a bit of info, i didn’t photo track the whole grow. For harvest shots Ill pull them out of the makeshift greenhouse and take proper pictures to compare the different trees. Other notes: dehumidified the temp green house at night. All plants were lollipoped and heavily defoliated to limit powdery mildew. Location / climate is coastal bc. Same media of partially recycled promix hp50%, coco30%, perlite5%, and sea soil 10% for all plants. Can’t remember if this media had wollastonite. Nutrients are daily at about 600ppm with a flush in early flower. No issues with deficiencies or disease or bugs so far. May add sugars to help microbes. Mild powdery mildew before I enclosed the plants which was controlled with milk and defoliation.

I noticed that it is taking forever for any trics to turn amber. I’m growing in a greenhouse under plastic and temperature and light are late fall low. Wondering if it is a lack of uv (filtered by plastic) and/or low light levels. Any greenhouse growers know?

Some strains never get amber trichomes and others can have 70%+ amber after only a few weeks of flowering and end up with 100% amber come harvest time - and this is why I believe basing harvest timing solely based on trichome colour can be misleading. Once your plant has 95-99% brown pistils, she is in the harvest window, with peak THC levels and moderate CBD levels. This also (generally) co-incides with the oft quoted "10-30% amber trichomes" zone, without having to look too closely and is far easier for newbies to understand. Once a plant has 100% brown pistils, death is approaching, with a corresponding drop in cannabinoid (THC) quality. If you prefer a THC influenced, clearer brain type of high, harvest when there are about 95-97% brown pistils. If you prefer a CBD influenced, heavier body type stone, harvest when there are about 97-99% brown pistils. Cold nights generally slow cannabinoid production and maturation and it is a fine line between leaving plants too long and harvesting good quality while you can. These are my opinions based on close to 40 years of outdoor cultivation experience and not ideas based on internet bro science. Hope this helps, Organoman.

@ClydeGrows, Thanks I’ll try to post some pics to compare the training methods in a week or so. The greenhouse is too tight to get good shots of all three plants at once.
