thephalanx420 Took 2 clones from both 2nd gen mums in top chamber. From the 4 candidates, I'll keep the strongest 2 to veg until their mums are harvested.
I dipped the stems in Rootmax gel, and have them suspended about 1/2" above the water line.
Last time I cloned, i had the stems directly in the water, and it took 9 days for small bumps to appear, and small roots poking out on day 12. Using this as an experiment to compare! If they don't work out, I can take a couple more clones and reveg them. More than enough veg time between cycles!
Thanks for reading!
Day 1 in cloner - 8am - all droopy, humidity 47%, temp 22c. Removed dome. 5pm - RH 44%, added dome back, still droopy.
Day 2 in cloner - 8am - still all droopy, 47%, sprayed inside dome/on leaves again.
Day 7 in cloner - 8am - stems sticking up and strong, but lots of leaves dried out during the week, so hopefully the ones remaining are enough to keep them going!

thephalanx420 Day 14 since cut - small roots on 1, and tiny root on 2nd. Other 2 haven't shown bumps yet.
thephalanx420 Day 22 since cut - all 4 clones showing roots, 2 being much more developed than the other 2, so those will be my keepers.
I guess technically, Veg won't start until next week when the roots are fully developed. Stay tuned.
Day 24 - Moved 2 strongest clones to their own res. The other 2 were growing roots, but were slower to root and not are robust. Added 1/2 strength nutes.
Day 27 - Roots are growing quite fast and fully submerged in res. New growth is starting on both clones, and both look healthier each day.

thephalanx420 Left clones is starting new growth, Right clones is slower going, but was also the weaker of the two, but it's doing well. Roots are exploding in the res, and PH/PPM are pretty stable at 5.8 and ~300ppm.
Day 33 - Roots are doing well, lots of new growth on left clone, but clone on right is slow to start new growth. Might trash it and start a new strain... unsure yet.

thephalanx420 Day 45 - Took 9 clones from plant on the left, as it was huge and growing into the T5 lights.
Put 4 clones in dwc cloner, and 5 in rockwool to see the difference in rooting times as an experiment.
Both vegging plants are doing great, with lots of white roots and healthy leaves/stalks.

thephalanx420 Day 55 - clones are doing great - about to harvest my mums in the next week or so, so one more topping/trim session on these ones and then they move to the flower chamber, get cloned again, and become mums for next round!

thephalanx420 Day 62 - New round of clones have all rooted (5 in rockwool, 4 in bubbler). I transplanted the rockwool clones into solo cups (garden mix soil), and 2 of the bubbler clones as well. Going to plant them outside in the next week or two as an experiment.
Mums in flower are ready for harvest, so just a matter of getting them cut down to make room for these ones! Then beings round 4! Bam!

thephalanx420 Day 72 - Moved clones up to Flower chamber, and took 3 new clones.
Cabinet is incredibly hot for some reason... i even added more ventilation, but it doesn't seem to be working.
I think its due to the battery backups i added for the air pump and filter fan - removed one of the batteries, so will report back.
Day 77 - 5F - Heat issues are not related to UPS - I'm venting cabinet into the same room, so the ambient temp is causing warmer air to enter the cabinet. I'm working on a solution to vent the cabinet exhaust outside.
Plants are doing awesome, though! PH is stable, growth is going well. Should have the trellis filled up in the next 7-10 days.
thephalanx420 Day 81 - 9F: heavily defoliated all undergrowth on Left plant, leaving right plant for a few days longer to see the difference between how they grow with/without defoliation.Stretch is starting to accelerate as well, so by end of this week I'll have to bend and tie down most tops horizontally i think.
Day 83 - 11F: defoliated right plant under netting as well. there were a lot of shoots and buds forming, so it was time hah.
Day 85 - 13F: steady as they grow.. heh
thephalanx420 Day 88 - 16F: stretch is going strong. been keeping tops tucked as best i can, but for the last 5-6 days i'll just keep them in check, letting them reach for the lights now.
Day 92 - 20F: stretch is still going, but i expect it to stop in the next day or two, as per their mums. will do 1 final lollipop/trim after stretch is complete.

thephalanx420 Sorry for purple pics - when the cabinet gets this full, my phone doesn't adjust white balance as easily. Going to upgrade lights to quantum boards in the near future, which should also help with picture quality.
F32 - just came back from a 5 day camping trip - res was about 1/4 full but plants looking healthy and buds are growing nicely. changed water and nutes, and they're still going strong.

thephalanx420 50F - Leaves are starting to dry out on some larger buds. should only be a couple weeks now!
Huge fan of your canopy training. I must say It is very refreshing to see people actually putting the time in to grow true photoperiod strains instead of all this auto flower nonsense I've been seeing. I also love that you featured your moms when taking clone cuts, unique indeed. Fantastic work mate, keep it up!
@DabCrab, Thanks for the kind words! I think showing the mums is important, as it gives a good idea of the genetics and what's to come, assuming grow conditions are kept the same. Perpetually cloning is incredibly useful when you find the right strain and pheno for your setup. I am height limited, so going with a mostly sativa strain was a risk, but i lucked out with the resilience it has to topping, training, etc... i can literally cut 50% of leaves, and she just keep growing with zero signs of stress. I have some auto seeds, but haven't had the need to even try them. Why mess with a good thing? My next round will be only one of the Fruit Punch though, and going to try a different strain along side it. Worst case, i just continue with 2 clones again the following round if the 2-strain thing doesn't work out.
When you don't trim plants legs , the plants waste her energy in the bottom shoots , she will end with smaller main buds with plenty of popcorns in the bottom.
@BigDaddyK, not temperatures specifically - but higher temps caused bacteria to grow, and starting stages of root rot, which is when ph started to lower significantly. I could be wrong, but that's what I deduced through not very scientific observation hah. What would cause PH to drop so suddenly, then? Another example i have of this occurring, is that one of my reservoirs is directly over top of the ballasts from the veg chamber, and the res is roughly 2-2.5c warmer than the other res. The warmer res drops in PH more quickly than the other, consistently, despite both res's being changed with identical frequency, and from the same nutrient mix. When i say more quickly, i mean about .1-.3 points in a day.
Proper nice set up that , looks a dream to work with and so tidy , props to you mate u deserve a monster yield for the effort you put in
BIG RESPECT 👊🏻
Great to see such an amazing harvest and the cloning skills really pay off!!! Im recovering from some severe and shitty weather so its time for me to get back to it and try my hands at what you have done!
@H0B0, ahh, shitty indeed. these cabs are a lot of fun - takes the hobby to a whole new level! helping a couple friends build their own this week - highly recommended if you're looking to keep things stealth for children/legal reasons!
@KonopCh, thanks! ya, i was pleasantly surprised. round 4 i'm running some quantum boards, so hopefully the better efficiency will pay off with an even better harvest!
