Round two, ladies and gentlemen! Apart from the different strain, this second grow will have a topped plant and a small nutrition addition suggested by my local grow shop. Since there where roots EVERYWHERE last time, I tried a bigger air pot. Let's see if this works out. If it's unnecessarily big, my friend's tomatoes will be happy with this pot next summer. Since I needed my GrowBox to dry my other plant, but was eager to get started with this one, I tried germination outside, using kitchen paper and a plastic container as suggested on the fast buds home page. It worked as advertised. :) Afterwards, when the tap root was about one centimeter, this happy little plant went directly into the soil. Again, I used the Biobizz Allmix with a small pocket of herb soil in it to get things started. I did not have perlite, so I used the much bigger clay to get some air inside. Not perfect, but alas, I'm slightly broke at the moment. Perfect has to wait until the next grow. I also read about root riot and wanted to try, but it's a little overkill to buy a pack of them when I can only use a single one every 12 weeks. I wish I had more grow space 😩 Anyway, I'm excited to see how this one turns out!

Grow Questions

My plant's new leaves'S color is much lighter than before and older leaves show a stripey pattern. Things that changed last week: flowering begun, we had two unusually cold nights and days, and a switch to different nutrients. Can someone tell me what's happening?

Hey Growmie, This normally only happens when you have nitrogen deficiency or when your ph is off, and this has me leaning more toward there being a problem with your ph. If the PH near your plant's roots is too low or too high, you will see light green leaves starting to emerge. Sometimes, it is difficult for your plant to absorb all the nutrients if its PH level is not quite right. This might result in nutrient deficiency, even if the nutrients are very close to its roots. Flush the plant and when you do check the ph of your run-off and see what that is it's more than likely going to be off.

Don't worry about your pot is too big. If anything, you would benefit from an even larger one. I know that people keep saying that size doesn't matter ;) but when it comes to growing in soil it definitely matters. Bigger is always better.

"Sorry" for dumping all that info on you, lol. As for topping or not, check out some other diaries that have grown the same strain and read about their experiences.

@kohlrabi, Indeed. I checked your strain as well and I found growers with big yields that didn't top and growers that did, as well as growers with low yields that topped and those that didn't top. There simply wasn't any clear pattern.

@Lecker_Lecker_Berlin, There is no such thing as too big pots, at least not when you grow in soil. Bigger is almost always better. Sure, there's a point of diminishing returns, but that doesn't mean that a larger pot would be bad.

every strain is different, Girls look fine, and let them take the time tey need, they will take overdrive in any case, just be sure they have enough water, because the Airpots are tricky to water ( in my experience) start slow, let the soil soak and then water until runoff from the bottom then plants are happy
