Whilst looking for something else I found a tub full of old seeds I'd picked out of some homegrown White Berry a friend gave me years ago. These seeds were approx 7 years old.
I scarified with sandpaper and soaked in warm water in the airing cupboard for 24 hours. I then transferred all non floating seeds to moist paper towel. About 15 germinated but only 12 produced seedlings when planted in soil.
I was not putting serious effort into this it was just an experiment to see if the seeds were still viable. Once I had some seedlings I intended to try some in the garden some on windowsills and some under a tiny full spectrum led light I had for houseplant seedlings and cuttings.
In the end however I left 2 on a windowsill and the rest I put under the tiny 15w light in a room with poor natural light.
The windowsill seedlings failed. In the end nine of the seedlings under the weak light survived.
@@resimax, ahh thanks, really no praise can be accepted here though. I did nothing, less than nothing, the plants were absolutely abused from start to finish. They were never fed, just repotted once, frequently dried out completely, frequently drowned. The plants did what the plants did, despite my best efforts to get in their way. I carried on half arsing things until about week four of the Karen/Bertha grows - from there I started trying, and you can tell.
