Burned few of the tops as I was trying to prevent anymore stretch. The Gorilla ZkittleZ was pissing me off as it wouldn't stop stretching so I punished or by leaving it to burn! 🤦♂️🙈🤷♂️🏻😂
In hindsight I'll leave them under just the 4k until the stretch is over before firing up the HPS 2k.
The Fast Buds Gorilla Glue only moderately stretched to about 100cm but was receiving less light from the HPS so maybe that had a hand it that also.
The Sweet Seeds Sweet Gelato was a runt, slow growing and late with the stretch but eventually produced a good plant and it's currently around the 100cm. I have noticed though it had nice short internodal spacing and is frosting up early and it's more compact than the other specimen that I grew to replace the Barney's Farm Critical Kush that didn't sprout.
The Barney's Farm Critical Kush didn't come to anything so was replaced with another Sweet Seeds Sweet Gelato. This plant, I call it SG#2, grew much more vigorously and soon surpassed the other in height and although it was a week behind the rest, it started pre-flowering before the rest by a day or 2. However the formation of flowers appears to be slower than the rest.
The Sweet Seeds Sweet Gelato are producing thick colas with lots of frost. They're producing a strong orange sherbet kind of smell.
The 2 Gorillas are growing thick colas but they have minimal frosting or smell at this time. I'm hoping that's going to change in the next couple of weeks.
I think the Sweet Gelato will be finishing first and I should imagine 12 weeks from start to finish and probably more like 14 or more for the Gorilla Glue and the Gorilla ZkittleZ. A long way off from their predicted flowering times! 🤦♂️🤣
Into full flowering for the Gorillas and the Sweet Gelato are both much further along with lovely dense flowers convered in frost and putting out the most delicious aromas. One of the two puts out a pineapple smell and the other a orange sherbet fragrance.
Both the Gorillas are finally starting to frost up to the extent I'd expect. I think the drop in humidity has helped, also I've been holding back on watering as frequent. I think the drought stress has made them frost up.
I'm going to continue giving periodic drought stress, particularly towards the end.
The Sweet Gelatos are getting close to harvest. 60% of the pistils have turned orange/brown, there's a few amber trichomes but the majority are clear still. Consequently I've reduced their feed and will cut all the nutes and only use Boost until they get there chop. I'll also continue drought stressing every couple of days. I also intend to give them 24hrs of dark immediately before harvest, do everything I can to boost those trichs!
The Gorillas appear to be a have a while to go. They still have many white pistils and need to fill out the buds some more. The Gorilla Glue I have started back building to b prevent anymore lengthening of the buds and try to make them fill out some more.
Support yoyos have been added to the Sweet Gelato #2 as the branches are bending trying to support the dense colas. Also added yoyos to the Gorillas, not so much for support but to direct the taller colas away from the light to prevent them from getting scorched.
The Sweet Gelatos are almost there still waiting on the trichomes to ripen. I expect I'll harvest them this weekend.
The Gorillas have still a way to go, possibly another 2 weeks or more. They both have produced large thick dense colas but the ZkittleZ are by far the largest and thickest easily as thick as a woman's thigh!
I've procured a new light so I've added it as side lighting for now... 800watt led side light! 🙈 Begone popcorn buds and larf!🤭
Lovely dense lime green nuggets, some with a purple hue, covered in trichomes and pungent turps.
I can't put my finger on the smell/taste... I do pick up an old school skunky smell/flavour, I expect the aromas to be brought out once cured
Very smooth to smoke and relatively potent.
Very easy to grow and forgiving, they both would take big feeds and weren't upset by high EC. Lovely dense nuggets, some had taken on a purple hue. All dripping with Trichomes and potent turpenes. I can't put a finger on the aromas but there's an old school skunky smell in the background. Completely changed from the early stages of flowering.
Very smooth to smoke and reasonably potent. I'll definitely be growing this again and it's my favourite strain of this run.
Good work Sweet Seeds, Sweet Gelato is a winner for me!
@Sweet_Seeds, thanks buddy!🙏 Keep an eye out I'll be growing some more of your strains in the coming months! Btw I used to live near Valencia, spent a few years at Actv, Heaven, Spook Factory, Chocolate in Sueca and la ruta del bacalao back in the 90's.
