INDOOR GROWING
Strain: Afghani #1 by Sensi Seeds
Number of seeds: 6 pcs
Time: 01 November 2017 - 04 April 2018
Lamp: Gavita Superagro HPS 750
Power (Watts): 600W
Area: 80 x 120 cm
That year i moved to a new location and immediately started building new grow room.
6 (six) seeds were sown directly into the substrate, in six 25-liter pots.
The substrate was a mixture of peat soil, coconut fiber and perlite in the ratio - 40/40/20 %.
The temperature was 23°C.
Watered once a day with a glass of water.
All sprouted in about a week.
Second Week - beginning of vegetative phase :
The plants are about 5 cm high and look good.
Started to add HESI nutrients every third day:
· Root Complex - 5ml / 1l of water
· TNT Complex - 5ml / 1l of water
· SuperVit - 1drop / 5l of water
Throughout the vegetative phase, the room temperature was set at 25°C in light and 21°C in darkness.
Fifth Week - first cut :
The plants are 30 cm tall, very healthy in appearance and have 6 side branches.
Their tops were cut off at the height of the third branch counting from the bottom.
In addition, everything below this branching has been cut off so that all of the plant's energy has been channeled upwards into this branching.
Made clones by placing the tops in a jar with a solution of water and rooting agent.
I missed the shears, so used a scalpel to cut and accidentally damaged one twig - unfortunately.
I wrapped the cut with duct tape, hoping it would heal.
Sixth Week :
The plants are now 15-20 cm tall (after cutting). Twigs at the fork - 5 cm long.
I can now easily bend them flat and fasten with garden wire.
Seventh Week :
Plants recover from cutting and grow quickly again. They are about 25 cm tall.
They look quite healthy - even the one i damaged has only a slightly yellowed leaf.
It'll be fine, i hope.
Eighth and Ninth Week :
The plants are 35 cm tall and despite the stress of pruning and bending, they are doing well - a few leaves have turned slightly yellow, but that's understandable after what they've been through. And next week they will have another (last) cut.
Tenth Week - last cut :
The plants are 40 cm tall and look nice.
Their topmost branches are already long enough to cut them again. In the same way as before - everything below the highest branches was cut off so that all the energy of the plant was directed upwards to these branches equally. This time with scissors, which i finally managed to find.
The branches have been bent flat, parallel to the ground and secured with garden wire.
Eleventh Week :
The plants are 45 cm high. They are currently recovering from the last cutting treatment, so it's not surprising that they look not too good.
Let's hope they recover quickly.
Twelfth Week :
The plants are half a meter tall and grow quickly. They are looking better day by day. That is, they are recovering.
And they need support. I've already ordered decent supports, and meanwhile i've put together something temporary.
Thirteenth Week :
I gave the plants new, solid supports - they were already half a meter high, and the trained branches were almost reaching the walls.
Fourteenth Week :
When i started this grow, i only had square pots. Now i changed them to round ones (same capacity) so that i could rotate them to the light when needed - in square ones it was impossible. I did it skillfully, so the plants should not feel it severely.
And i had the impression that the plants were begging to bloom, so i changed the lighting to 12/12 - as they wanted.
Fifteenth Week :
Plants are over 60 cm tall. They stretch a lot and quickly.
The first 'hairs' started to appear at the very beginning of this (15th) week, and by the end they were already on all plants in abundance.
End of vegetative phase.
Sixteenth Week :
The plants are 80 cm tall and grow rapidly. The leaves have darkened and flower buds are beginning to form on tops and along the branches. Very quickly and densely. The smell starts to be felt - it smells a bit like chemicals, but sweet and pleasant.
Nutrients have been changed at this point (also HESI, but for the flowering phase) :
· Bloom Complex -- 5 ml / 1 l of water
· Phosphorus Plus -- 3 ml / 1 l of water
· SuperVit -- 1 drop / 5 l of water
(every third day)
also :
· PowerZyme -- 2 ml / 1 l of water
· Boost -- 2 ml / 1 l of water
(every second week)
I also doubled the amount of water - from now on they will get a liter per plant a day.
And i took off all the wires that had been wrapped around them, so that they could grow freely. If necessary, i'll be able to pin an unruly branch to the support's rim.
Seventeenth Week :
The plants are almost a meter tall.
More and more new buds along branches and more intense smell - like in exotic herbal and fruit shop.
Eighteenth Week :
The plants are over a meter tall. Even more buds and they swell almost before the eyes. Drops of resin begin to be visible to the naked eye on and around the buds.
The smell is the same as before, but more intense. Very pleasant.
Everything is going fine.
Nineteenth Week :
Plants are about 110 cm and will probably not grow much more.
The buds, on the other hand, swell at a dizzying pace and are full of resin.
The smell is absolutely stunning. Gorgeous.
Twentieth Week :
Plants no longer grow taller - they are almost 115 cm high now.
In contrast, the buds gain weight rapidly and are full of resin.
Its fragrance causes bliss.
Twenty-first Week :
The buds are abundant, full of resin.
The resin is also on the stems and on the leaves - the small ones and the big ones.
More and more 'hair' turns brown.
And that divine scent ...
Twenty-Second Week - Before the Harvest :
The buds are so big and heavy that the supports can barely hold them. Everything is shiny and sticky with resin - literally EVERYTHING. It looks like it's covered with snow or ice. The smell is just as strong, but now more earthy and hashy.
Everything looks healthy and as it should be, even better than i expected.
Harvest is approaching fast.
So i stopped giving nutrients - just a little clean water.
Best of the best! Not even the slightest problems during cultivation - everything ran smoothly. A wonderfully plentiful harvest! When smoked, the smell and taste is very earthy and resinous - identical to hashish. Splendid. It stays in memory for a very long time. The effect is very relaxing and calming, also thought-provoking, so it's great for creative work. However, in the case of an overdose - it causes drowsiness and can even knock you off your feet - literally. This is the best commercial strain available on the market - imho. It is absolutely my favourite 😍
HARVEST
That day, when i entered the growroom, i saw a terrible sight - half of the plants were overturned along with the pots. The floor was full of spilled earth. Fortunately, because the room is small - the plants did not fall to the floor completely, but leaned on the walls. It looked like someone had broken in and made a mess. But no, nobody broke in here - they just fell over due to their own weight. I cleaned up the mess and went straight to harvesting.
When cleaning, everything became clear - a few days before the planned harvest, i stopped watering the plants completely, so that they had as little moisture as possible during harvest and dried faster. Therefore, the soil in the pots became too light to keep such mature plants upright - i should have anticipated this earlier. Fortunately, nothing bad happened ... apart from the mess.
Looking through a magnifying glass, the resin was beginning to crystallize and tarnish, taking on a milky amber color. The best time to harvest - as for me.
The plants were harvested by cutting off the main branches (each plant had eight branches) just below where the buds start. They were then given a thorough manicure and then hung on strings in the garage to dry. They hung drying for a whole month before being weighed, packaged, and placed in a container for long-term storage. I use a good old cigar container for this purpose, inherited from my father.
