Finally our next grow can begin!
So after our last grow we made some changes to our growing conditions. We will start our coming grows in a propagation tent, before transferring to our bigger 1.2m tent. This and other changes will be shown in the coming weeks in this growdiary.
For the strains, we chose Sweet ZZ from Royal Queen Seeds. We wanted a quick flowering plant with very sweet and fruity taste, so sweet ZZ should be perfect.
This grow we'll grow 4 plants. Hopefully we can keep outgrowing our last grows!
This week all plants sprouted. Theres still five at this point, but because I want four plants in the big tent after propagation, the weakest plant will be removed.
At this point everything is going smoothly. I fitted an air intake that will push fresh and a bit colder (18C) air into the propagation tent, 6 times per day for half an hour.
Not much else so far, but very happy to be growing again! till next week!
Second week and the ladies are looking really good. They grow quickly and look very healthy.
Because as of yet they're still all looking kind of the same I still haven't decided which one im going to cull.
They also still dont drink a lot yet and are still on their first watering so they also haven't been fed yet.
Stay tuned for the next update!
This week the plants were topped. They are growing really quickly and look amazing.
They still havent been fed and just received plain ph corrected water.
Next watering they will receive their first feeding according to a new feeding schedule.
Also we decided the middle plant won't be joining us for the entire grow.
It looks like its the smallest one with the least amount of branches.
In any case, they're looking beautiful and I'll update you guys next week!
Another week of Veg has finished and the plants are now 1 month old.
The first signs that they were hungry showed, so when the pots felt dry, they received their first feed.
They all got about 700mLs of water, with the nutrients as listed above. Because the growlight in the Propagation tent is not very strong,
the plants stretch a lot. Because we want the plants to be a bit more bushy, we topped almost all the shoots going up,
so that the plant can start making a bit more shoots on the sides.
The plants will probably stay in the tent for 1 or 2 weeks before moving out to the bigger tent.
Looking forward to seeing how the nutrients and the topping will take its effect!
First week after transplanting. It seems the growlight used to propagate them had so little Watt that the plants are pretty stretchy.
They still look good, but could have been a lot more bushy. Even though the plants were fed, some leaves still seem to show a few signs of nutrient deficiency.
But, because they have received nutrients, were transplanted and are chilling under their new light, I think these issues will be corrected soon.
This week we'll start with some LST to make the plants a bit more bushy and increase their surface area.
We'll see how they turn out!
See y'all next week!
This week we started to LST our plants. One is a bit higher than the rest, but with some more LST that'll get fixed soon.
I LST'd right before watering, as the stems were a bit softer and easier to manipulate.
After LST they were watered and fed and they recovered within hours, and allready corrected themselves towards the light.
The leaves also start looking a lot more dark and healthy, so the nutrients are starting to do their job.
This week we'll keep LST the plants to cover the tent as even as possible.
Next week we introduce the SCrOG net in the tent and give them their final veg week.:)
This weeks the plants were woven into the ScrOG net. After a week of LST the plants were ready and covered the tent quite nicely.
Because some of the lower shoots still have to reach the canopy, we defoliated the upper shoots to create more light.
We removed a lot of leaves so the light penetration is really good at the moment. During watering we fed the plants,
and added a little bit of Terra Bloom to start getting them ready for bloom.
Lovely to see the plants getting almost ready for flower!
See you next week:)
The last week of veg is here! This week we kept tukking branches down and LST'ing the shoots that kept rising above the canopy.
We also added some more substrate because the watering caused for a bit of a hole to devolop surrounding the stems of the plants.
The canopy doesnt have too many shoots like our previous grows, but I hope the size of the buds will make up for that.
Right after this post I switched the lights to go to 12-12 to start the flowering period.
These plants should flower between 7-9 weeks, so I'm curious to see how fast they mature.
Stay tuned for next week!
First week of flower done! The plants are stretching nicely and the tent is starting to be filled up fully with shoots promising a nice flowering period.
To keep stimulating the growth of small shoots we'll be defoliating some more the coming week. All in all the plants look really good.
One thing that is concerning us a bit is the temperature. The room in which the growtent stands is really cold and the temperature sits between 15C and 19C,
which isn't really the temperature we would love to see. So we might turn the heater up in that room or provide a warmer air intake for the tent.
Can't wait to see how they progress!
Till next week:)
And that was it for week 2 of flower. As usual in this period, not a lot has happened. The plants have mostly finished stretching and the white hairs are starting to form,
indicating a succesfull transition into the flowering period. Simply out of curiosity we also fed once with Green sensation, to see if it does anything to the plants.
We'll start feeding with this again in week 4 of flower. Further there isnt much to say except lets wait patiently.
In the coming week we'll probably water and feed once more, and defoliate once aswell.
We're expecting the buds to start showing up nicely by next week.
Hopefully everything keeps going well
Week 3 of flower is done! The plants have been stretching a lot this grow, so the budsites are in a quite vertical structure.
The plants were also very dense with leaves, so we had to defoliate the plants a lot. After defoliation the shoots had a lot more light.
The flower stage has started nicely and the plants are showing flowers appearing everywhere.
The coming weeks there won't be a lot of work, except for watering when dry and defoliating when needed.
Hopefully the buds will keep growing nicely. See you next week!
First month of flowering is done! I think the plants stopped stretching and are now focussing on producing buds.
As of yet they are very hairy and the flowers are developing a bit slow. Very eager to see how they keep developing.
We defoliated a lot, because of the stretch many of the lower buds are not getting a lot of light.
Also, the growlight could use an upgrade, but we'll see if we are going to do that this grow or in the future.
It looks like the coverage isnt as good as it should be. But for now we'll have to see how this goes.
Till next week!
Another week of flower is done and we're slowly starting to get a bit worried about the plants.
Even though they look really healthy, the flowers dont seem to be in much of a hurry to develop.
If you look at the past week, not much improvement has been made. Definitely if we compare it to week 5 of flower of the previous growth,
you can clearly see the plants are a bit behind. Hopefully they start growing soon and start filling up the buds.
This week the plants will be watered when dry and here and there we'll do some defoilation.
For the rest we can do nothing but wait.
Till next week!
Another week of flowering has passed. The grow again hasnt changed much.
The plants look very healthy, all leaves are deep dark green, but the buds just dont seem to want to grow.
I'm not sure if i'm doing anything wrong and I hope the flowers are picking up weight soon.
The flowering period was listed as 7-9 weeks, and this was week 6.
I'll do a growquestion to see if anyone had this problem before or knows whats going on.
Next week i'm going to defoiliate them a bit, maybe the stress pushes them to start flowering quicker.
Till next week!
Another week in flower passed! Week 7. Still not a lot is happening to be honest.
The flowers are developing really slowly. We removed some lower shoots and defoiliated a bit more,
but almost all leaves have trichomes, so we don't want to get rid of too many.
Since they are not stretching anymore we hope that they'll start building some bigger buds soon.
See you next week!
Thats it for week 8. Of the 4 plants, 2 slowly start forming some buds. Still nothing too crazy, but it finally seems something is happening.
The left 2 plants though still dont seem to be doing much. The buds are still litterally not doing anything at all.
We hope the ladies won't be taking too much more time to mature, but as of yet it seems like they still need quite a few weeks before its time.
To help speed up the process we aquired a CO2 bag to help supplement the plants.
The CO2bag is located 10 cm above the highest nugs and infront of the fan to disperse the gas across the room.
Hopefully this will boost the plants a bit. Till next week!
Another week where basically nothing happened.
The plants still look healthy, but there is absolutely no growth in the fluffy nugs visible.
It's as if they are standing still in time. A few nugs are slowly starting to fill up,
but litterally the rest of the tent would be wayy to fluffy to even call a nug.
Hopefully this changes soon and they actually become dense..
That was week 10. Even though a few nugs look like they can be something, the majority looks like its not gonna become anything at all. Its hard to see on the pictures,
they look a lot denser than they are. Except for 2 or 3 nugs, you can litterally see through all of them.
I have honestly no idea why they have such a hard time developping. As far as we know they look healthy and have everything they need.
We'll just let them chill some more and hopefully with some magic they suddenly start doing something.
If we dont see a lot of improvement the coming time we'll harvest them too soon simply cause we need the tent for our next grow.
Hopefully some things turn around. See you in week 11.
Another week has finished. The plants are barely developping. The trichomes start getting cloudy and the leaves are turning red and yellow,
but the buds are still nowhere near the expectations. Next week will probably be their last week before we cut them down.
Since this week we started watering with pure water only.
Curious to see how the final weeks of this grow will look and what the results are going to be.
Till next week
So after 12 weeks ( instead of 7-9 weeks) we decided to finally cut the plants down. The trichomes were milky and amber and the nugs were deeply red. Even though they looked mature, the buds were extremely small. The front left plant has probably hardly any nugs with bag appeal, which is a huge bummer. I have never seen so underdeveloped buds as in this grow, and I cant figure out if we did something wrong, or if it's the strain, or if it was simply bad luck. In any case, we cut them down, stripped them of their fan leaves and put them in the dryer. The dryer was quite full and the RH was 99%, so we moved the exhaust to the bottom of the tent so the moist air that sinks to the bottom gets sucked out. This dropped the RH to about 60%, which is nice for a slow dry. I'm very curious to see how the buds end up after drying, and we'll put in all the additional info after trimming is completed. Also, we didnt weigh the wet weight, but we'll give you guys a final dry weight. See you soon!
