Seed was soaked 24hrs In tap water then placed in a moist paper towel inside a Tupperware on top of the cable box until it had a 1/2 inch tap then planted in a solo cup with 70/30 coco mix.
The plan is to finally give it a go with the Autopot system after owning it for a year. I am going with 100% Canna Coco Pro
Plant has been relatively slow growing I would suspect it to be a byproduct of the transplant, I have been letting the coco dry out a touch to encourage root growth before putting it on the res.
Day 9 Fertigation @ 600ec/6.0 ph leaving a runoff @ 580ec/6.2ph
Day 12 Fertigation @ 700ec/6.0ph leaving a runoff of 660ec/6.3ph
My plan is to top this plant at the 3rd node as long as growth starts to pick up over the next couple days
Day 16- Plant has really started to grow with more vigor, roots are present at the bottom of the pot, I have fertigated daily for a few days but I am going to allow a dry back to encourage some more root growth then I will turn on the autopot reservoir. Topped plant above 4th node removing 1st node and single leaf associated with the node.
Day 17- Turned on Res tonight, there were a bunch of roots coming out of the bottom and the leaves were just about to the edge of the pot, I will watch how it reacts over night and be prepared to turn off the reservoir if needed.
Day 18- plant was a little droopy when I got home today so I turned off the res and will let the roots grow a little more before turning it back on
Day 19- root have really pushed out of the bottom, I did a flush w/ [email protected] until outflow read .8ec@6ph then returned to tray and turned on the Autovalve , I will monitor the plant over the next couple days to ensure the plant is liking conditions
Day 20 - decided to take the top 2 Fans off to allow the shoots a little more light, this plant has very tight new shoots never really seen it this tight before
Day 21 - new growth daily, I have turned the light intensity down a touch was getting close to 450 ppfd before and is now closer to 350 ppfd and a light integral of 23~25
Day 22 - Aquavalve has been on for 3 days now, doesn't seem to fully empty the tray but the plant seems to like it, there is growth every day
Day 23 - nothing to report, plant is drinking and growing each day . Res is stable at 5.5ph looks to have drank near 500ml over the day
Day 24 - started LST today, will leave it to stretch up over the next 2 day or so and re- tie the branches to the outside of the pot. Res holding at 5.5ph
Day 25 - Plant responded well to the LST is starting to bush out a touch, has a few pistils but not yet "flowering" thankfully, hoping to get some more veg before flower really kicks in. Res still at 5.5ph water In the tray is 5.7ph , water level is at 1 gallon remaining so its drinking close to 750ml daily
Day 26 - Raise ppfd to 350, res is still holding at 5.5ph I will do a refill over the next couple days and possible switch to the bloom which should still have plenty of Nitrogen in the mix to promote the remaining vegetative growth.
Day 27 - filled res and adjusted mix, I have a feeling it was a little too much nitrogen and calcium. I am using tap water that has a starting ec of .2 I don't think there is much need to use much more additional calcium, res ec is at .7 and ph 5.5 again
Day 28 - decided to flush the plant from the top with the res water, there looks to have been a slight magnesium deficiency but may have been ph, so I flushed to see what would come out . After flushing I refilled the res with 4ml micro/4ml magnifical/4ml bloom to a ec of .8 and dropped it to a ph of 5.9.
Day 29 - Res is at 5.9 ph and .8 ec plant has drank .25 gallon over the last 24hrs. Did a light defoliation and LST to spread the nodes a touch. Still only seeing minimal pistils and stretch has not begun yet so I will adjust from here out.
Day 30/31 - not much to report, plant is growing well seems to be growing a but faster . Di what will be my final HST bending the top most nodes and trimming some shaded branches off to focus energy to the dominant shoots
Day 32 - switched to Strive Nutrients, the recommended feeding is 15ml A / 7.5 B in 10l of water, this brings the ec to close to 1.8 which I feel is quite strong so I diluted the mix to 1.1 and lowered to 5.9ph
Day 33 - plants seem to have responded well to the swap of nutes , still looking nice and green. Growth is still a little accelerated over the last 4 days not sure if this is the start of stretch or not, still not much pistil, hopefully I get some more strong growth for a few days before the stretch really kicks in
Day 35 - seem to be starting a deficiency, I believe it's phosphorus ph has been fine I set it at 5.9 and allow it to drift to 6.3 before lowering it again, I switched back to Remo and will finish this plant with them
Week 6
I have been battling a slight deficiency which I believe is due to a fertigation that was too light when the plant began stretching, It seems to be a phosphorus issue which would be in higher demand during this phase. I have stopped the aquavalves and started to fertigate from the top with a slightly stronger mix. It seems to have stabilized over the last few days so it may have turned the corner. After increasing the feed to 1.3 the plant is looking much better and has darkened up in colour and chlorosis has stopped
Week 7
Plant looks to have recovered from the issue it was having, I suspect my feed was a little low for where it was in .
I will be finishing the rest of the grow top feeding. Also realized that I had my timer set incorrectly and it was actually running 24/7 for the last 45 days, I have switched it to 20/4 as was my intention from The start
Week 8
Plant is doing well, fertigation daily at 1.4ec/5.9ph has lead to a runoff of 1.3ec so it has been feeding well I am debating increasing the feed to 1.5 but I think this is pretty much perfect there is just the faintest bit of tip burn and the foliage is looking nice and green with a slight sheen to the leaves.
I turned the light down a touch because the plant was drooping a little right around 3hrs before lights out (if you look at the day 49 pics you can see what I mean pic was at 9pm lights out is 12am)which to me is signalling that it’s had enough and is starting to shut down photosynthesis for the day, PPFD has been just over 515 at the canopy it has been lowered to 480.
Light is currently 19” from the canopy I think the stretch has begun to cease and it has begun budset, I did some light defoliation to open the center of the plant and cleanup the lower 1/4 of the plant to allow more air flow.
Week 9
Starting the week I have been dealing with some slight issue, not sure exactly what the cause is but I have done a flush w/1.0ec until the runoff came in line with the feed level.
Week 10 - plant has been suffering a slight nutrient deficiency due to an improperly calibrated meter. It was slowing growth to almost a stand still , since fixing it the plant has started bulking up much more.
