SEED SPROUTING / GERMINATION
*Started off seed in a glass of water with a ph of approximately 6.
*Left over night, then paper towel for about 6 hours till tail was about 1cm.
*Planted in its final fabric pot which consists of 70% coco, 30% perlite.
*Soaked the coco in a very weak Canna nutrient solution.
NOTE :
*This will be my 9th Fast Bud plant.
*I’ve had 100% germination and an amazing success rate with great yields.
*I am extremely excited to see how the Strawberry Gorilla goes!!
My seedling started off with the cotyledons sticking together for 2 days.
When they opened up I had 2x small cotyledons and 2x big cotyledons.
4x cotyledons in total.
The first true leaves are coming through fast.
The first week of the grow was fine.
Nothing to report.
Even though the seedling has 4x Cotyledons it is not effecting the growth at all.
I have this plant next to a fast buds gelato which is shading the seedling a bit, but the light seems to be getting through enough.
I am using nutrients, but it is a super weak mixture.
Canna a and b = 1ml each
Canna Rhizotonic = 2ml
Week 3?
Yeah I think that’s what we’re up too.
A little bit of a slow start, but she’s steady.
I had her crammed in with a fastbuds mimosa cake which I harvested today.
So she hasn’t been getting a great amount of light.
But now with the other plant out of the way, she has a HLG 65 watt light to her self for the veg stage, then I’ll use a HLG 100 just before pre flowers.
I’ve been having some minor spider mite problems with my other two plants and noticed a couple on the strawberry gorilla leaves.
I’ve sprayed all the leaves with a pesticide I’ve used before that seems to eradicate them pretty promptly.
So fingers crossed I don’t see any more of those little c$@ts!
Stay tuned…
Ps It’s a bit slow during the germination veg stage, so I’ve added a photo of one of the many colas I harvested from my Fastbuds mimosa cake.
I was extremely happy with that grow.
Can wait to dry, cure then smoke
I’ve been a bit lazy with this report.
Everything is going ok tho.
I had a Gelato in my tent that was supposed to grow to 1m max. It is now at about 1.5m high.
So I moved the gelato out of my small 1.6m high tent and into the bathroom.
The strawberry gorilla is now in the tent.
Due to the size of my tent, I have topped her and used LST to try and create a new flat canopy.
Probably performed a little late, ah well.
She seems to be bouncing back.
Whoops sorry I missed a few weeks!
She’s goin great.
In my last diary entry back at week 5, I had just topped her.
This topping was definitely wayyy too late as she was just showing me what her sex was (showing pistols).
Luckily this has worked out good for me as I have a super small and narrow tent.
I believe it has stunted its growth just enough with help of LST to I believe keep the plant under 1m after it’s flowering stretch. Which is pretty much the max height I can get to without burning the crap out of the top leaves and buds.
BACK IN WEEK 6
I couldn’t believe it, one morning I popped my head into the tent and small buds and sugar leaves covered in trichomes were present in what seems like over night.
WEEK 7
More of the same, buds getting slightly bigger with more trichomes
WEEK 8
Currently going much the same.
Slowly adding more growth and height etc
NOTE
I pretty much follow the canna nutrient feeding schedule and my gut instinct.
We are in Autumn in Australia, so temps are starting to drop a little.
21 degrees c during the day.
19 degrees c at night.
Give or take a few degrees depending on the weather.
Sorry, I’ve had a lot going on in my life lately.
I’ve slacked off a bit on documenting this grow.
WEEK 10, 11
*Buds just continued to get frostier every week. They unfortunately didn’t get any bigger tho.
*Majority of pistols have curled in.
*I harvested a few of the top buds where they were all milky trichomes and a few amber.
WEEK 12 HARVEST!!
*Still the buds firmed up, got even stickier and overwhelmingly smell like strawberry candy. AMAZING
*All trichomes are now cloudy with about 20% Amber.
DRYING & CURING
*I guess I’ll get back to you in about a month or so time with my final review of how it smokes, how many grams I received etc etc
MY THOUGHTS ON THE STRAWBERRY GORILLA.
*Even though I stuffed up topping this plant at the wrong time, this has been an amazing plant to grow. My first Gorilla Glue plant.
*The leaf structure is unbelievable. Super easy to trim, most of the sugar leaves are completely covered in trichomes.
*The buds, even though smallish are solid and chunky.
*GROW THIS PLANT! You will not be disappointed!!
*Photos don’t do it justice!!
*Incredible plant.
