I had my tent running the last couple days as I waited for my bags of fertilizer to arrive. I wanted to make sure the VPD was in an optimal spot before I started germination. The black fan in the top left front corner is actually a space heater. It's still a bit chilly in Michigan and should be for at least the next week. I tired standing it on the ground but since it doesn't have an auto shut off it just seems to counteract the humidifer. Strapping it to the top keeps it warm enough and yet doesn't effect the humidity as much.
So far so good. I turned the space heater off after a couple a days, been holding steady in the 70s, sometimes low 80s. I let it dry back as much as possible from the initial hydration. I believe it was Thursday, maybe friday I let it soak up some water for 15 minutes.
Like I said before the humidity was hard to keep in for a day or two. There are some roots starting to bust out of the side. Gotta start thinking about switching to the Jack's 15-5-20 and uppotting.
Humidifer was down for a day this week after I tried to clean it and accidentally got something wet. Slowly been dialing up the light, were at 60% right now, pushing a little over 300 PAR. I switched up to the Jack's 15-5-20 formula instead of the 15-6-17 Clone version for early veg. I pinched today, 8 nodes fully developed, just over 4 weeks in. Also I had a good amount of roots popping though so I went ahead and uppotted to a two gallon 70/ 30 coco/ perlite mix. I would say I'm a day late uppotting and a day early or two for topping.
Still topping the hell out of it and taking the lowest fans leaves weekly. Definitely got a bit hot this week, couple days over 90°. To adjust I switched up to an 18 hour light schedule a couple days ago, lights turn off at noon and come back on at six. Also I went ahead and just about maxed out the light height. Added some Rx Green E-Plus to my feed once this week to mix it up a bit. I tested my runoff earlier this week and the pH was about .5 lower then what I watered with. The next time I fed I bumped the pH up to 6.25 and that brought my runoff pH up to 6.1, EC about the same.
Day late due to celebrating my 8 year anniversary yesterday. But today I did the last round of toping before heading into flower. Still have a couple more weeks of veg to go, I'm thinking I'll flip it once it gets somewhere between 18-20 inches tall. I just wanna note that because I plan on growing this strain more then once in this set up. All looks green, more then ever. Very impressed with how it's holding up in the the high temperatures. Been adding 3 ml /gal of Rx Green E-Plus regularly. Without the E-Plus I'll feed at about 2.1 but she was eating it up. With the E-Plus it comes in at about 2.4-2.5 and she seems to eat that up just as well. Getting nervous about a few things for flower. Keeping the garage dark enough and cool enough for 12 hours is the main concern. Always anxious for pest. Watering in general, I have to brush up on generative steering. Then there's harvest and curing which honestly I don't know shit about except 60/60.
Originally I was planning on 9 weeks for veg. However this plant has grown a solid 3 inches every week and with that I'm approaching the point to where I may run out of space for flower if it stretches to much. I maybe throw some trellis up this week and if I do I might push it to 9 weeks.
I got about 6 inches of growth last week, the most I've seen so far. I added some trellis net and it lowered my canopy a good 3 inches. I think I'll let it grow around the trellis this week and flip it next Saturday/ Sunday.
Got a small AC unit on the way to hopefully cool the garage off some during the day. Did a long 9 week veg cycle, if I do the same for Flower, it'll come down 8/26. Work was throwing out some old cure tubes so I picked one up thinking it'll come in handy when I'm ready to dry.
Smooth sailing so far. Still warmer then I would like to admit in the garage. Definitely starting to notice them stretch pretty hard. Bud sights are starting to appear.
Noticed my first real pest, bit of a let down. I'm not sure exactly what kind of larva I have but it doesn't seem to be thrips. I've seen algee eating larva before and I'm assuming that's what these are. They don't tend to leave the pot but that means my roots are going to suffer. I can get my hands on some organic pesticides and that might be the move for next week.
With my feed this week I added 5ml/ gallon of Azagard and 9g/ gallon of botanigard to kill some larva. I used it every other day because I just wanna nip this in the butt. I would guesstimate it's killed a good 90-95%. One more week and hopefully they're gone. Smells are definitely getting stronger. Buds are definitely fattening up everyday as well. I could probably skirt a little more but I really just want to see how much will develop underneath with my current set up.
Pretty sure we defeated the larvae infestation. Haven't noticed anything the last few days. What I did noticed is some dead leaves that resembles a phosphorus or potassium deficiency. So I stopped using the E-Plus and just added more nutrients to the feed.
I was a bit distracted this week with family in town. The nugs are getting so top heavy they're starting to lean. I took the bottom layer of trellis out, skirted some more lowers and tried adjusting the top trellis without breaking anything. I don't know the last time I filled my humidifier. Definitely at least a month maybe two. I have been able to keep the temperature below 87 thankfully so maybe high humidity is helping. I'm just honest to God surprised I haven't seen any rot. Starting to see signs of heat stress but still not as much as I expected. Overall pretty proud of how this first run is turning out. Learned a lot, things will only get better.
