Here we go again, Royal Dwarf! After 3 or 4 years, I'm finally growing my favorite strain again. Trying to provide a much better growing environment than in my first grow this time, with ideal temperatures, rh, and watering. This time I didn't prewet the substrate and am only spraying around 100ml of plain RO water per day.
So far this grow is around 2 days faster than my first royal dwarf grow. The higher RH seems to be really paying off. Still using the spray bottle although I've increased the amount of RO water I'm spraying to around 500ml every second day
Started applying LST around the end of week 3 – the goal is to get an even canopy. Slowly lowering my RH by 5% a week. Also started feeding nutrients from week 3 according to the Biobizz nutrient schedule. Now watering 1l every two days.
And we're flowering right on time! So happy that my plant has transitioned well into flower this time. My first Royal Dwarf grow had 6 weeks of veg, which delayed the harvest a lot. Apart from that, the plant looks very healthy and is responding well to LST. I'm now applying new wires almost every day to keep an even canopy.
The buds are growing slow and steady. The Stretch seems to be almost over now. I managed to keep her significantly smaller than in my first grow (30cm vs 55cm). Canopy is pretty even.
Day 48: it looks my I went a bit overkill with the nutes in my last feeding (3ml biogrow), as she's showing nutrient toxicity in the tips of her leaves. Cutting back on the nutes and flushing her a bit today. Might have also been a result of not having enough run off, as I barely had any for the past few weeks. On then that, she's now getting fat and stinky
She's progressing much fast than my previous grow. The pistils are already starting to turn orange. Trichomes seems to be filling up with thc too. At this rate I'm expecting to harvest in two weeks from now. I will have to significantly up my top max during the next feeding sessions.
Side note: it seems my timer plug was misconfigured after a recent power outage, so my lights have been on 24h for at least some time.
Day 63:
The grow is slowly coming to a close as pistils are starting to turn orange. During the last week my plant also showed what I believe to be calcium or manganese deficiency. At this stage of the grow im not really trying to change it a lot as the final flush is just one week out. I'm hoping she can pack on a lot more buds before harvest in 2-3 weeks. Let's see...
Day 67: I started the final flush today as most trichomes are already cloudy and I want to harvest before they start turning amber. The flush is planned to take 1.5 weeks, so i will be harvesting right at the end of week 10.
I started the final flush early last week. The first pistils are now turning amber, so I will be harvesting in the next few days.
Day 66: I just chopped her. Slightly earlier than expected and definitely a huge lot earlier than in my first grow. But after all it's a strain that should mature in 9-10 weeks, so it should be good. Will report back with the harvest data in a couple of weeks.
Harvested a few weeks ago. As expected, the harvest wasn't huge (27g dry weight + 4g high quality trim), but for the amount of weeks it took it's still decent. Quality of smoke, effects, and smell are impeccable.
