The In House Genetics/Raw Genetics grow is up, out, and most are about. These seeds struggled shedding their shells. I think only one made it without any assistance. Which I am getting much better at. I generally put seed in Root Riot cube, tap down, and cover with about 3/4 inch finely shredded, moistened, Coco. Sometimes they do perfect sometimes they don't. Such is life. Now from one beginner to another whoever in the hell reads this. If you assist in removing your shell, make sure that the thin inner membrane is completely removed from the cotyledons or it will twist, delay, and possibly stunt the plants growth. Like the Apple Tart and the 1 SlurriKing. Also, I have found that hypo needles, tweezers, moisture and believe it or not, the pick end of dental floss singles.
These plants stayed in a great Bay window until day 7 and then I placed them in the "Seedling Area" under a DIY 150w LED. If they continue to thrive, I will place them in their home tent until harvest.
I experimented 😬 with the seedlings that had developed leaf sets by giving them a very, very, very, diluted dose of Cal-Mag plus. I think my plants struggle with Mag from early on.
4 Southern Zlush in Hydro are up and strong (Another diary in Hydro)
?2 SlurriKing in Soil One strong and one got membrained and is questionable on Veg.
?1 Apple Tart in Soil got membrained and is struggling to Veg.
FYI- I will be gathering some strain info (if I can find) 👻 and post some major highlights of each strain. I just can't remember right now the Burnt Orange Cookies are hammering me... in a good way! 😁
The girls are enjoying the LED light.
Apple Fritter looks like she is gaining some strength after her membraining. Stem should fill out.
1 of the SlurriKings is a twisted mess because of her "membraining" and me removing it to late. The other SlurriKing is looking good👊.
Moving to LED should slow down the lankiness however, they will be moved in just a couple of days. I may leave the Twisted SlurriKing a day or two longer in the incubator. When I move them I will plant just a tad lower in the soil.
Oh, did I mention that I... yes me and my continuing battle with valves flooded the basement where I grow. I figured somewhere in the neighborhood of around 200 gallons.😖 I surrender. 😵 Man... my dumb stoned ass can't remember to turn the reservoir fill valve off to either one of my systems. Maybe one day.
Increased PPM to +/- 500. Cal-mag + Grow (lotus)
Out of the small area and into their final homes. Just decided to plant the Jacked up SlurriKing I still have hope for her. I think the Apple fritter is gaining some traction.
I did finally test the runoff from my DIY soil. It was around 900 ppm. I have no idea what it should be but I got some buffered coco with just a little "cool" soil and made a perimeter around the seedling about the size of my net pots, to give her a little them some protection for a few days. I am watering, just this area, with +/- 550 ppm.
SlurriKing #2 bites the dust. She germinated great. My fault, I didn't remove the "husk" quick enough. This has happened to me in the past with the same results. Don't have 100% solution but I do know if you don't get it off in the first day or so, it could get ugly.
Replaced with a cross between Runtz and Burnt Orange Cookies. It will be a surprise for me.
SlurriKing #1 and Apple Fritter growing along nicely. Adding a bit of Cal-Mag and upping the ppm slightly. Now, in the soil I am initially cautious with my watering. I don't want to over water or overdose with nutrients that might be in the soil I am using. Again, I use sort of a micro dosing approach till I see some positive response.
I am going to attempt to top at node 5 or 6.
After the death of one of the Slurrikings, the Purple Pipe Bomb (Burnt Orange Cookies x Runtz) is beginning to re-veg and gaining some nice color.
Getting close to topping. I think one more complete node. Gonna wait a few more days on the PPBomb to start Vegging.
Increasing the Nutrients, I will try to top out at about 1100 on the soil. It is so very easy to overcook these plants. I'm just not sure how pushing nutrients to the max translates into the final product. I am adding some extra magnesium. Thru trial and error, my grows do well with a little extra magnesium.
