Missed a lot of weeks, I’ve decided to train this into a monster as im only growing 2 plants this summer. For a random chance seed it is doing well. I stressed it with defoliation and lst and it showed sex( female) so it won’t be a waste of effort
Training again. I spread out all side branches so the plant will now collect about 4 square metres of sun. It looks pretty crazy with central branches 6 ft up and side branches flat to each side. Did some defoliation as well. Still very healthy but I had to go through carefully to remove some annoying inch worms.
Starting to bloom. Continued with defoliation for air flow. Removed 5 or so leaves with mildew. Switched to bloom nutrients and hydra cal mag 2 days ago after 3 days of just ph 6.2 waterings/flush. Still healthy but a bit of mottling on older leaves and a tiny bit of nute burn on a couple of tips.
The monster is doing great. Minor burn showing on older tips, likely from a switch over to bloom nutrients. Still training and defoliating. So many bud sites, definitely the biggest I’ve ever grown and still aiming for 3 lbs dried. This plant definitely has some hybrid vigor going on. Still no powdery mildew going on but I’m going to start closing up the greenhouse and dehumidifying at night as it’s that dangerous time on the wet west coast.
This beast is thickening up. Has a lot of characteristics of both GDP and white widow parents. Doing really well with the dehumidifier on at night and aggressive defoliation. Maybe 2-3 weeks to harvest?
Should I harvest yet? Rain and grey days are coming, i have a night dehumidifier in my make shift greenhouse, but still worried. Also for convenience sake soon is easier.
Thoughts?
I would advise against cutting them; it's still too early. You should wait for at least 3 to 4 more weeks. When the white hairs turn 50%-80% red/amber, that's the time to check the trichomes. If you find around 10% amber trichomes, it's a good time to harvest for more THC. Additionally, more amber can lead to stronger couch lock effects. However, if the weather in your area worsens and you can't do anything about it, then I would recommend cutting them to avoid losing everything. Now, you can focus on feeding a little more PK to fatten the buds, just be cautious not to overfeed them or cause a nutrient burn.
Got through the wet and grey of the last week, should see some sun in the next few days to help finish the plant off.
Quite aesthetic with gdp colours and whit widow scent coming on strong.
