The 2 seeds I tried to germinate failed. Disappointed. So I am trying another Cali Kush seed this week. As you can see from the photo, I have transplanted into a larger container. Both the seedlings were becoming pot bound, so they were due to be moved to a larger home. Beginning to add some nutrients.
Plants are looking healthy. I topped the plants this week. They had more water with nutrients this week because the soil I transplanted the two plants into was dry. Got another Calie Kush seed to germinate and it is now in soil with its wee head just showing above the soil. Going to try another White Widow seed.
I sprouted another White Widow. Plants are branching out since the topping. Sold my house! That means I have to find a home for the two larger plants probably be tossing the two sprouts. The larger plants will probably be going to my boyfriends patio to live in big pots.
Branches are filling out after the first topping 2 weeks ago. Soon it will be time to top some more. As you can see from the photo, I have put the 2 larger plants into big pots. They are now on the deck waiting to go to their new home at my boyfriends place. Very sunny today so I covered the plants for a couple hours near midday, as the plants are not yet hardened off for direct sunlight yet. I hope they mature for a successful harvest in pots.
It rained all week. Because of the cold and rain the plant has really stretched out. Unable to give nutrients as the pots already have access to lots of rain water. Did I mention that it rained all week? The soil mixture that I used has some slow release nutrients already in it. I will have to be careful about over feeding with nutrients. I topped the tallest branches.
Between rainy days, I was able to give some nutrients during a little dry spell. Outlook for next week is a lot more rain. I am glad the commercial soil has slow-release fertilizer included because I am unable to add anything in water. I hope these plant survive this weather. They did grow by 4 inches this past week.
Another week of rain meant that I was only able to give each plant 1 liter of water with nutrients. In spite of the rain the plants grew 7 inches more in height. There has been some bug damage so I sprayed with some Safer's Insecticidal Soap.
We finally had 2 1/2 days without rain, so I was able to give some tap water with nutrients. Yesterday I removed some leaves from the lower branches to prevent popcorn (little) buds. 32 inches tall.
More rainy days this week so plants only got water containing nutrients once. I did some more stripping of leaves and little bud sites from lower branches. There has been some bug damage, I believe it is caused by earwigs.
Plants have been moved to boyfriends garden now that I have sold my house. Still a lot of rain but instead of raining each day, it has been raining at night and we are enjoying sunny hot days.
Warm week with some rain in the form of thunder showers at times heavy but no damage to plants. Did some more trimming of leaves and potential small bud sites. Able to give the plants two waterings containing nutrients.
Rained every second day this week. Today was very windy, which blew both the plants over. Peter chained them down to a metal stake in the ground. Then we put a couple bricks in on top of the soil in each pot. The White Widow is in pre-flower which pleases me as September will soon be here. Increased the amount of nutrients in the water provided as it is raining so much I figure it will dilute in the pots. Trimmed a few leaves yesterday.
A little less rain this past week. Peter made a support to hold a tarp to cover the plant when frosty night arrive later this month. The Cali Kush plant has a few yellow leaves this week. Able to give a bit more nutrient rich water as there was three sunny days this week. That a strange weather year we have had.
Mold! I am not surprised, because of all the rain we have had this summer. We just made it through Tropical Storm Lee. Naturally there was lots of rain and wind. The plants survived because Peter and I moved the plants into the shelter of some trees that protected the plants from the East wind. Saw the mold two days ago. After the storm, Peter and I spent some time trimming the larger leaves and any moldy buds to allow more air into the White Widow plant. No mold on the Cali Kush yet. The weather report for the rest of this week is sunshine. I will believe it when I see it.
The White Widow at 51 inches grew a little bit bigger than the Cali Kush which is 48 inches. I was able to give 6 liters of water this week between rain showers. Picked a few more leaves off each plant. The mold on the White Widow has slowed its growth, so only a little bit of the mold had to be picked off. It was probably bits that I missed finding last week. Peter was nice enough to cover the plant one evening that had a risk of frost.
We had a week of sunshine, that was soooo nice. Able to give more nutrients with water this week. It was even dry enough to give some plain water. Still picking off some mold.
Mold still being picked off. Some branches had mold on the stems and that meant nutrients were cut off from reaching the higher buds. Being discouraged with this years crop. I finished up all the Big Bud nutrient this week. Took a look at the trichomes with the Digital Microscope. They are still white. Not time to harvest yet. I am going to stop giving any more nutrients.
I stopped providing nutrients this week. Watered heavily to wash out any left over nutrients from the soil. More mold was picked off and I noticed that some branches wilted because mold had damaged the stems preventing water to reach the upper part of branch. It has been a disappointing year.
