Germination
I picked up the seeds from ILGM several months back and am excited to start a new diary. I grew a plant when I received the seeds to get a feel for how this strain grows and the buds ended up smelling and tasting delicious. Nice and fruity, like the name suggests. I'll be germinating for the next few days with a paper towel and am hoping to have in the soil in 4 days. And away we go.................

The second week is complete and I couldn't be happier with the growth. She's really starting to grow nicely!! I increased the lights to 20hrs/day and started introducing Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Grow, which seems to be working well. I'm not going to change a thing with lights or nutrients this week, but will begin LST later in the week. I'm already excited to post results next week!!

This week the growth started picking up. I started LST, but think I should have waited another 2-3 days. Either way, she seems to be responding well and is drinking more and more water each week. I'll continue with the LST this week and look to start defoliating towards the end of the week. Thanks for stopping by!

This week was a fun week as the plant has entered the final week of the vegetative phase. Growth has increased exponentially and the basic framework is coming together with the LST and defoliation. I'm going to continue with Botanicare veg nutrients for another couple of days before switching over to Botanicare flowering nutes. Not much else to report this week. Plants are starting to get thirstier as well. Until next week......

It was another great week of growth. She started transitioning into the flowering stage this week and I changed up the nutrients for the remainder of the grow. I'm sticking with the one-part nutrients until I get a few more grows under my belt, and changed from Botanicare to General Hydroponics FloraNova Bloom to experiment a little. She seems to be taking well to the new nutrients and the plant has a very sturdy and firm structure, which tells me she's healthy. The amount of water she's needing has increased significantly over the past week. I'm continuing with the LST and believe I've got the basic structure trained for development of big colas, while opening the plant to better air circulation. I'm expecting a continuing surge in growth this week and will continue to maintain the current course. Thanks for stopping by!! 👌

Six weeks have come and gone. This grow has taken some work. This sativa strain really wants to stretch. I'm working to maintain the basic open structure for better air circulation and light penetration. I'm still working the low-stress training and defoliating often. The new GH FloraNova Bloom nutrients are starting to take effect. They're very concentrated and strong, and I believe I used a bit too much, too early. But as a good autoflower, it took it like a champ. Back on track. I'm curious to see what happens over the next week or two. Depending on how much more it stretches in the coming days, I may install netting to help keep it open. I'll update next week with what happens.

Some cannabis strains grow like meatballs (indicas), and others grow like spaghetti (sativas). Banana Kush is definitely spaghetti. It has a wiry structure and loves to stretch, even with the early LST. As it stretches upwards towards the light, it also has a tendency to grow back inward. On day 48 I threw up a screen to keep it open for air circulation and light penetration. It's still adjusting to the screen but I'm hopeful it will continue to fill out. The colas are starting to burst out and I started noticing the smell for the first time this past week. I'm going to stay the course this week and leave it alone while it continues to mature and fill out. Thanks for checking it out!

Top leaf tips turned yellowish, brown with curling. I'm leaning towards light burn as the cause, but noticed it started occurring during the recent hot weather. I've raised the lights, but am wondering if this could actually be related to the heat.

Looks like nutrient burn from prolonged high levels of nutrients. Some phenotypes are more sensitive than others. They usually start with the tips turning a whitish color before turning brown. I usually back off nutrients if they all start to pale on the leaf tips. I would use less nutrients in your mix.

On the positive side, the plant really started to bulk up this past week. The base structure is solid and the buds are slowly starting to fill out. The smell has started getting stronger as well, and is starting to smell amazing. I left her alone for the most part last week and didn't do any maintenance defoliation. I plan to do the same this week and let her continue to add weight. On the negative side, I did start noticing that the tips of some leaves were turning yellowish/brown with curling. I asked members what this might be and the unanimous consensus was nutrient burn. I've used the less-concentrated Botanicare in the past, which allowed me a greater margin of error. I'm using the GH FloraNova Bloom for the first time with this grow and made the novice mistake of using too much of these concentrated nutrients. I've started flushing with plain water and will continue this for the next several days before easing back into the nutrients. That's it for the week!

This week she started putting on some weight. The buds are getting fatter and it's essentially on autopilot. It's slowly changing from scraggly to thick. I spent the first 4 days this week flushing out the excess nutrients before restarting them at a lower amount. I'm trying not to push it at this point. I'm planning to stay the course this next week and see how fat these colas get.

It was a slow and steady week with this Banana Kush plant. The buds continue to gain weight and are starting to bow the narrow branches. That's always a good sign. This is my first grow using synthetic nutrients, and it's been a learning experience. The synthetic nutrients are very strong and, as I've learned, it's very easy to overdue it. I've began using regular tap water for 4 days, followed by light nutrients for a day. This seems to be a decent working balance, so I'll continue this cycle for the remainder of the grow. One thing to note, the buds are extremely sticky and resinous. It'll coat your hands very quickly and easily 😋

Another week in the books and this plant continues to put on some serious weight. It's not going to win any beauty contests, but it's definitely a hearty plant. The branches began flopping with the weight of the buds last week, so I've been using twine to help keep them supported for the remainder of the grow. I've been feeding with a mild mixture of Botanicare Pro Bloom, and using FloraNova Bloom every 3-4 days. The trichomes are still clear and have slowly started getting cloudy. I figure I have another 2-3 weeks before harvest. That's it for this week. Thanks for checking my diary out!!

This past week was another week of the buds bulking up. They continue to put on weight and are totally bending the branches with the weight. I've been using twine to keep the branches supported and upright. The buds are absolutely beautiful and continue to amaze. I've been checking the trichomes every other day and the majority are still clear, but are slowly becoming more cloudy. I'd guestimate starting a flush in a week or so. I've been using a small amount of the Botanicare Bloom nutrients for the past 2 weeks, while adding a blast of the GH FloraNova Bloom every 3-4 days. I'll stay this course for the remainder of the grow while monitoring the trichomes. Until next week!!!

We're coming into the homestretch. The buds have continued to put on significant weight. It's not the prettiest plant, but it's extremely stocky and bulky. All branches are now tied up to support the weight of the buds, but some continue to flop over. I've been watching the trichomes for the past several weeks and they are slowly turning cloudy. I have been checking the trichomes on different parts of the plant and did notice some have amber tips. I've started flushing with ph-balanced water, with an eye on harvesting next week. I'll be out of town this week and everything will be on autopilot. I'm testing a new watering pump and am looking forward to returning from my trip and harvesting.

We made it to the end of the road. It's day 98 and it's time to harvest. I flushed for about a week and a half and then didn't water for last 3 days. As soon as I cut the string, the branches flopped all the way to the ground from the weight of the buds. The buds look great and shouldn't take very long to trim. My next post will have final weight and the smoke test. ✊

This was a very easy grow. I just kept her fed and watered and she did the rest. Buds grew big, dense, and hearty. When I cut the string, the branches flopped to ground with the weight.
